What are your favourite movie deaths, which you just didn't see coming?

    Haven't seen them all but the Final Destination flicks seem to specialise in surprising deaths.

    Gosh there are so many films I have not seen. I'll probably stay away from this thread because so much will be full of spoilers for me.

    But I'll contribute one here: Easy Rider. Still gets me.

    Watch a 1985 film from William Friedkin called To Live and Die in L.A... I can't say anymore than that but like me your jaw will drop at the end.

    Doc getting shot at the beginning of Back To The Future really surprised me the first time I saw it.

    @0013, Mr. X isn't dead. His fate is unknown at the ending of 'Layer Cake,' and it's confirmed he lives thanks to the new novel and film adaptation where Jason Statham will be playing the character.

    It is true, but when I first saw it I assumed he was killed, and I believe the film makes you think that. So it is a 'subjective' death.

    I don't remember the last few seconds preceding the credits, so I could be wrong, but from what I recall, I always took it as a "you decide" ending. Does he die there on the ground? Does he make it to a hospital and survive? I've never read the novel, but I never expected something to come out years later that unveils whether he lives or dies, so that's nice.
