Personally am willing to forgive barry for that position since his top 4 is exemplary!
(And as we all know, he has the excellent TLD at 24 cos he is so obsessed with Kara that he just can't bear to ever watch the film.!!)

Exactly! Because seeing Kara with another guy makes him super jealous.

Let me know... it’s the film that took Bond away from the Cold War in such a brilliant and respectful way.
Such an important film to keep the series going, possibly Bond’s last shot after LTK and a 6 year gap when everyone said Bond was finished.

It really was (and is) an important film in the series. Pierce was a perfect Bond for the 90's as well. Who knows what could have happened had they for some reason gone for a different actor!

Don't go along with this love for GE.
In fact TLD is a million times better!
Still love your posts barry, but you get it seriously wrong with Daltons debut! Classic Bond!

If I had to rate the Bond actors right now :

    1.Moore
    2.Connery
    3.Brosnan
4.Craig (too much emotion since QOS ,That’s not Bond, with the obvious exception of OHMSS due to his wife’s death and his future destroyed )
    5.Dalton
    6.Lazenby

Wonder if there's a younger Campbell type director out there. If he's getting a bit too old now, the producers couldn't go wrong with a Campbell type director.

    4 Moore/Lazenby

    6.Brossa
Actually I used to make this list without Brossa
As I think, and still do, that he should never have been cast!!

Sorry the reply was a mite late @barryt007. Here's my top five -

    1) From Russia With Love
    2) On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    3) Casino Royale
    4) Dr. No
    5) The Spy Who Loved Me

Swapping FRWL and OHMSS is eminently reasonable. And the rest, well that's between you and your own personal skyfairy. Here endeth the lesson.

I hope that we are not going too off-topic with this...

    1. Sean Connery
    2. Roger Moore
    3. Pierce Brosnan
    4. Daniel Craig
    5. Timothy Dalton
    6. George Lazenby

Brosnan and Moore are my favorite.

I don’t know what my top six or eight are anymore.

All I know is that Sean’s first four, George’s one and Craig’s first three are unbeatable and unparalleled. To me these eight are necessary viewings. In what order?

    Then:
    9/YOLT
    10/LALD
    11/TLD
    12/GE
    13/LTK
    14/DAF
    15/TSWLM
    16/OP
    17/TMWTGG
    18/SP
    19/FYEO
    20/AVTAK
    21/MR
    22/TND
    23/TWINE
    24/DAD

While I was waiting for a plane, I thought of a different way to rank the Bond films.

I made a top 10 of all different aspects of a Bond film. As in a top 10 favourite Bond girl, villain, henchman, ally, music, title song, sets, locations, title sequence, pre-credit sequence, post-credits sequence, cinematography, climax, gunbarrel, etc. The film ending up first in a category gets 10 pts, the number 10 gets 1 pt, with everything in between receiving 2, 3, 4 up to 9 pts.

Than I also handed out extra points for my 3 favourite portrayals of recurring characters M, Q, Moneypenny, Leiter and Blofeld.

And finally a film with my favourite Bond received 6 extra pts and those with my least favourite 007 received only one extra point and those with the ones in between receiving 5 to 2 pts.

After all that my ranking of the films turned out to be like this (between brackets the points they gathered and in case of a tie my personal favourite ends up first):

    1. On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (106 pts)
    2. The Living Daylights (94 pts)
    3. From Russia with Love (92 pts)
    4. GoldenEye (92 pts)
    5. Thunderball (77 pts)
    6. You Only Live Twice (70 pts)
    7. Licence to Kill (64 pts)
    8. Moonraker (50 pts)
    9. The World Is Not Enough (41 pts)
    10. The Man with the Golden Gun (40 pts)
    11. Dr. No (38 pts)
    12. Casino Royale (36 pts)
    13. A View to a Kill (33 pts)
    14. Goldfinger (31 pts)
    15. The Spy Who Loved Me (25 pts)
    16. For Your Eyes Only (19 pts)
    17. Diamonds Are Forever (19 pts)
    18. Octopussy (18 pts)
    19. Tomorrow Never Dies (16 pts)
    20. Quantum of Solace (14 pts)
    21. Live and Let Die (13 pts)
    22. Skyfall (12 pts)
    23. Never Say Never Again (12 pts)
    24. Die Another Day (9 pts)
    25. Spectre (6 pts)

I suppose I can conclude that I definitely need to rewatch Moonraker soon :))

As someone who has tried and failed on numerous occasions to rank the films I think I may just try your scientific approach and see what the result is.
I'm doing a Bondathon soon, and I will mark them all using a similar system. Then see what the outcome is.

    Thank you @Birdleson!

I find it tough to rank them. I realize GF, TSWLM and CR are good Bond films and I appreciate them a lot. But despite their flaws entries like TMWTGG, AVTAK and TWINE just mean more to me.

As for LALD and QOS, there is a lot to like in almost every entry and they are no exception. I’d still rate both of them 6/10, I just like the others a tad more. The only one that doesn’t get a 6 or more is SP. That one I’d give a 5/10.

That’s great news! And now we agree about what’s the worst Bond film as well ;)

Who would have thought it would take Bond's arse to make me realise TLD isn't the worst Bond film ?! (which it never was to me,it was just.......her).

The arrogance of that arse lit up a lightbulb in my head hahaha
