Conversely, I have had it in the 24th slot since it's release.

Well, let's put it this way, at least you should see Bond 25 as an improvement!

There was a 7 year wait for a decent follow up to QOS.
Luckily SF can be ignored easily. CR QOS SP is the perfect Craig trilogy.

I don't dislike Spectre but I realise that I'm not as enthusiastic about re-watching it.

The problem with this era is that you can't watch SP and ignore SF because it references Silva.

CR-QOS is a fine combo though.

That 2 seconds can be ignored easily.

I have always seen SP as a sequel to Skyfall. Much of the background knowledge for watching SP is given in Skyfall. Especially the introduction of the new M, Q and Moneypenny...

    23. The World Is Not Enough (1999)

I've just realised that looking at my latest rankings, I actually seem to prefer the Brosnan era to the Craig era. It's a pretty close call too, two from each era at the bottom, one in the middle, and one near the top.

That's a decent & unique list. It's surprising to see AVTAK ranked so highly.

Thanks. The Roger Moore Bonds are inching their way up.

AVTAK is a funny one. Parts of it are really good (Moore and Walken in Stacey's office, Bond and Tibbet, Moore taking charge when teaming up with Mayday etc)

Parts of it though are REALLY bad. I just can't shake the "going-through-the-motions" feeling that the film often seems to have.

AVTAK gets *worse* for me. Even this time around even the score felt repetitive (it's still good). I didn't even mind the "James!". But it just feels like a really tired effort, and that's not even considering anyone's ages.

I don't hate or even dislike it - I like other films more

AVTAK was my favourite film for a very long time. It has gone down a bit... In the German version they were smart to make the "James" yells less shrill and less annoying...
  • AVTAK felt like the first film where the filmmakers weren't pushing themselves to make the best movie they could. It was just the box office this time around.

All of the Roger films I enjoyed and the ones I didn't enjoy as much are getting better for me. What a fun run he had. I wouldn't change it for anything.

I have heard this complaint very often. But do you for instance think that DAF, TMWTGG or MR were films which the film makers tried to make as good as possible?

    Year end's list
Of note: CR for the first time in 10 years has slipped, behind OP and GF, didn't see that coming, but I can't find it more pleasurable than OP or GF now, also SP had an impact on it as it showed me what the Craig era could have been for me.
DN and DAF and QOS are this year's clear winners. Both creeped up my ranking bit by bit during the last two years.
DN finally made it into the Top 10 where it probably will stay somewhere behind CR.
DAF "started" at the bottom, but I discovered over the last years what a highly funny and entertaining film it is.
QOS I had near the bottom for years, but I finally overcame the prejudice's I had against it and see it as the highly entertaining action roller-coaster-ride it is. Had it been more Bondian instead of Bournesque, it could be in my Top 10 easily.
The Mendes films bookend my ranking which is ironic isn't it. But I finally had to admit to myself after SP that SF is the only Bond movie I cannot really enjoy when watching.

    1 SP
    2 GE
    3 TLD
    4 OHMSS
    5 OP

    9 TND
    10 LTK

Current ranking in progress. I thought my last ranking put YOLT ahead of GF, but apparently not, so things are looking similar thus far.

    1.) DN
    2.) OHMSS
    3.) GF
    4.) YOLT
    5.) FRWL
    6.) TB
    7.) DAF

I have CR and GE somewhere at the very top and somewhere at the very bottom, so that isn t unique. Sure there are many examples of something similar.

For many years GE WAS at the top for me. Its fallen but still fairly high and the fact I can remember every single line shows how re-watchable I consider it to be.

The lines in that film are just so damn memorable for me too. More so than any successive Bond film. Camp, but very memorable. The delivery by all the supporting actors is a key component of why I recall them so vividly even now.
