Halloween 2 1981 I definately prefer this timeline, the recent film that wiped all but the first film does not work for me at all.

    THE MATRIX MARATHON

    68-agent_smith.png

This is one of my darlings, the cultural phenomenon that left us baffled in '99. What can I say? This stuff isn't getting old! The action still rocks, the mythology remains cool despite some truly nonsensical concepts in the sequels and the exceptionally bad dialogues that come with them. But hey, because of the action, I'm a Matrix sequels apologist. Keanu, Fishburne, Weaving, Moss, ... they're all so much fun in these films. So, for this marathon:
    1. The Matrix: excellent, still, hasn't lost one bit of its charm.
    2. The Animatrix: easily overlooked by the anime challenged, but a huge recommend to all of us, children of the '90s.
    3. The Matrix Revolutions: despite the heavy reliance on the silliest of plot twists, there's nothing but eye candy in this one.
    4. The Matrix Reloaded: still a delight, but the film slows down at times and the heavy-handed chewing gum philosophy carries the stench of pretention more than the other three movies.

I, for one, have always loved The Matrix and I'm modestly intrigued by the prospect of a fourth film, even though I know I probably shouldn't be. ;)

I have four versions of all the films (Dvd's, Bluray Box Set, Bluray Steelbooks and 4K Boxset) I am a dedicated fan or have more money than sense ;)). I enjoy even the weaker movies.

I still have the video tapes of the first two films. ;-) But I wachted them on bluray now, of course. ;-)

@Fire_and_Ice_Returns I feel the same way. Halloween 2018 had it's moments, but it wasn't worth wiping past films, just to create yet another timeline.

Last night I watched The Satanic Rites Of Dracula. Still my favourite Hammer Horror: Dracula.

Satanic Rites is a fun film. I guess POD is my favourite in the Dracula series. Still, I prefer the Frankenstein films, especially FCW and FMBD. Cushing is delicious in those two. :)

I like the their Frankenstein films as well. I like the Dracula film a little more, though. I might watch Revenge Of Frankenstein tonight.

Film about the events in Oslo in the diabolical year 2011, and the aftermath. It doesn t feel exploitative, but realistic all around. Good performances from all involved. Definitely unpleasant, naturally.

Re: Halloween It's a trend in film at the moment to wipe films from cannon to try to get people to watch another rehash of a sequel.

The Satanic Rites Of Dracula is a good one, I like the modern setting.

I watched another Hammer film last night The Kiss of a Vampire
kiss_of_the_vampire_02.JPG starring Bond alumini Edward de Souza. The Hugh Jackman film Van Helsing borrows heavily from this one.

    Ma nuit chez Maud (1969)

I remember reading somewhere: "I rather watch paint dry then watch a Éric Rohmer film". It wasn't that bad lol, quite a "talky" picture, a bit slow sure, but it also had its moments. Decent flick.

    Partie de campagne (1946)

Directed by Jean Renoir and running at just 40 minutes, this little film was very nicely shot, but emotional ending didn't quite do it for me as there was really no time to build it up (because of the short run time).

    A Perfect World (1993)

An Ok film. As with the previous film, the ending didn't quite bring out the emotions it intended to.

    Letyat zhuravli (1957)

Some cool direction, but mostly boring.

    The Mortal Storm (1940)
    ¨
Been a while seens i've seen a James Stewart flick (one of my favourite actors ever). Interstingly enough this film was made before the US entered the war. Decent anti nazi flick, made while Hitler was still alive.

    The Natural (1984)

Not that much into sports movie, i rather prefer watching the real thing... Had its moments, but overall mediocre.

    Bull Durham (1988)

    Same as with the above.

    The Foreigner (2017)

    Thin, but somewhat entertaining.

    Sorry to Bother You (2018)

First film from Boots Riley. It was certainly original, but not quite my cup of tea.

    Capharnaüm (2018)

Some nice performances, but it didn't get me as emotionally invested as i think it intended to.

    Street Fighter

This movie is stupid, let's not pretend, but it's dumb fun in such a good way. I hate 90% of the video game movies out there, but this one I'll always defend for being so obnoxiously cheesy. This is the poster child for "so bad it's good" entertainment.

Kong '76.....I kinda feel sad for Grodins character , he was so proud he'd struck oil , of course he tried to minimize the loss with Kong....makes sense

Sadly I can imagine people exploiting Kong had he been around in real life

Also watched Batman Moon of Wolf , sadly T1 froze up.....gonna watch some more , prolly horror , maybe the one with the old man Marley from Home Alone , that was a good one

    DARK SHADOWS (T. Burton, 2012)

Burton has been a bit hit and miss up through the years. This is a hit, one of his absolutely best. I love practically everything about it.

Spiderman Far From Home A lot of this film is like a Saturday morning cartoon, the film is very basic. The CGI though obviosly good, for me still falls well below the Sam Raimi films though that will be down to Sam's direction and decision making. Midway through the film there is one of the worst exposition dumps I have ever seen, it really is bad and pretty much derails the whole film for a while. The major plus of this film is its actually funny, arguably one of the funniest films in the MCU. The two post credit sequences cant be missed

I thought RPO was way too bloated and nostalgia heavy for me to enjoy it. I didn't hate it or anything, but it left me questioning whether Spielberg's lost his touch.

This, and The BFG, left me with the same feeling, so empty.

    The Dark Knight Rises

where do I begin with this film.....

lets start with the negatives because that is a longer list and a lot of these comments will be on the fly as I am watching it now

    1. Why does Gordon just carry around the speech
    2. I HATE the way Bruce acts in this film
    3. I agree with Fatman on batman Blake finds out because of a look WTF
    4. none of the finichial stuff makes sense
    5. I hate the way Alfred acts
    6. I know now why most don't want Nolan to do Bond

    postives

    1. it's well acted: Litterally everyone is perfect in their roles I love Hathaway as Catwoman and Hardy as bane
    2. uhm the opening sequence is good

overall this film is beyond weak and considering I like Bane and Catwoman my heart breaks.... THE MULE (C. Eastwood, 2018)

Possibly the best role Clint ever had. This one has it all-comedy, tragedy, drama, suspense and heartbreak. Highly recommended.

The mirror Crack'd (1980) - an Agatha Christie tale and allstar cast movie directed by Guy Hamilton, with the title based upon a poem of some poet by the name of Tennyson. An nice easy Miss Marple movie starring Angela Lansbury as leading character with an ice little mystery at heart. 007 connections besides the director is one Blofeld actor and one uncredited 007, who lays his ear to Elisabeth Taylors chest.

Tonight (again): The Train (1964), directed by John Frankenheimer, starring Burt Lancaster as a French railroad official and resistance fighter and Paul Scofield as a German colonel trying to move French art masterpieces to Germany before the Allies manage to take Paris.

This sums up the few problems with the movie. Except for the credibility problems that arise if you have an Englishman pretending to be a German and an American to be a Frenchman. along with a lot of French actors trying to speak English with a French accent and some dubbed because they apparently didn't even manage to do that (the great Michel Simon's voice has more of an American accent than even Burt Lancaster), this is very much a pretty perfect movie! Lots of suspense, action (and no CGI!) and what have you: The best part for me as railroad buff (I should probably hate them for destroying steam engines, but whatever) is that the French railway company (SNCF) apparently used this as a tool to get rid of much of their 1910's stock by having it crashed for the filming. All in all, a very, very good movie, in glorious black-and-white...with only a few anachronisms to complain about (see the goofs on IMDb...).

    Absolutely love that film.
Tight direction by Frankenheimar, and tremendous action, beautifully lensed,
I recently bought the blu ray with some unusual artwork on the sleeve

Of all the Directors names been bandied about for Bond, I would love for Cuaron to be one of them.
He had some small involvement with QOS, so he not a stranger to Bond!

Notable as its directed by Terence Young and Peter Hunt is second unit director. Its a bit of a Bond reunion with Charles Gray, Vladek Sheybal, Peter Burton, Anthony Dawson starring.
