  • Want to hear Ian Fleming on Desert Island Discs in 1963?

    1. Casino Royale
    2. Goldfinger
    3. Dr. No
  • Goldfinger
    Casino Royale
    ...oh man

It's between From Russia With Love, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, and Goldeneye. This is tough.

    Goldeneye for variety's sake?

Goldfinger is the GOAT, Casino Royale is a brilliant reinvention of Bond.

Goldeneye represents another reinvention of Bond...From Russia With Love is a brilliant Cold War thriller, and On Her Majesty's Secret Service has the best supporting cast of any Bond movie and a first-class plot courtesy of Ian Fleming.

I forgot The Spy Who Loved Me, too, which is pure escapist, silly Bond, but amazingly done.

Okay, I'll eliminate Goldeneye and From Russia With Love, since they're partially covered by other entries. That makes it OHMSS vs. TSWLM. Decisions, decisions.

Worth an update as I feel like taking Quantum of Solace along (Yes, it's been berated to death, but I watched a third very recently and there's still the rest to go), so the said desert island can accomodate

    #1 Quantum of Solace

    #2 License to Kill

    #3 Dr No

Right about now, I am leaning towards the Blofeld trilogy of YOLT, OHMSS and DAF.
I love the pristine blu-ray transfers which have just come on the market recently, as individual purchases.

The Spy Who Loved Me: My favourite Bond movie, could easily (and have) watch it over and over.

You Only Live Twice: My favourite Connery flick, mainly because it is somewhat hilarious. :P

OHMSS: One of the longer running films, so it would do well to keep me distracted. Also, I would imagine being on an island, eventually the sight of sand would make you mad, so some snow would be a welcome relief.

Of course I could have added License to Kill, just because it is so AWFUL that it would motivate me to find a way to escape...
