    It's been a tough day.

    (Another favorite of mine from the Burt Bacharach/Hal David songbook, and one that is somewhat personal for me).

    Here's one of my favorite Bacharach compositions, "Message to Michael." It inspired the Temptations song "I Wish It Would Rain":

    Bacharach's influence is also obvious on "We Have All the Time in the World". John Barry worked with Hal David, Bacharach's usual lyricist, the track was produced by Phil Ramone, Bacharach's usual producer, and the instrumental section, with the muted trumpets, is in his style.

    Ironically, the score to OHMSS and "We Have All..." weren't even nominated to the Oscars in 1970, the year "Raindrops Keep..." and the score to Butch Cassidy and the Kid won. But Barry had won an Oscar the year before for A Lion in Winter.

    And here's my other favorite, Elvis's version of "Any Day Now," described by Greil Marcus as "a Burt Bachrach-Bob Hilliard composition Elvis sang with a naked passion—a naked piety, really—that cannot be found in any of his other recordings."

    As someone that is not musical at all, the brilliance of Burt Bacharach’s melodies is that even I can warble them around the house. And they still kind of work (key term: "kind of"). :D

    Yes, I'm sending my condolences to Ms. Maryam D'Abo, I'm sure he's really proud of his wife's achievements, that's breaking as Valentine's Day is coming near, then to have such a heartbreak of losing your better half is really painful.

    I hope Mrs. D'Abo's okay.....😢

    I must admit that I didn't realize that Hugh Hudson was 86 years of age. My thoughts are with his family. A real loss.

    And another comic book artist, this time a Belgian one : Joseph Loeckx, better known as Jo-El Azara, creator of Taka Takata for the magazine Tintin, passed away on february 7th, aged 85. It's a part of my childhood and my adolescence that disappears. I really loved Taka Takata when I read his gags in Tintin.

    RIP Raquel Welch. I must admit I don't remember ever seeing a movie in which she performed, not even One Million Years B.C., but she was quite ubiquitous as the quintessential "sex bomb" during my youth. Another one of those impacts coming closer.

    Wow. There's immortal and then there's immortal. My first crush on Raquel came with Fantastic Voyage and was cemented forever with That Poster of her in One Million Years B.C. Rest in Peace, Miss Welch -- you will be remembered as long as films continue to be shown.

    saw this online from Toys of Bond Twitter; 'the Bond girl that never was. She was originally cast as Domino in Thunderball until being released from her contract so she could star in Fantastic Voyage instead.'
