RIP Robbie Coltrane. First thing I saw him in, was "Nuns on the Run". But I remember him brest as Fitz in "Cracker". And, of course, as Zukovsky in GE and TWINE: aND WAS VERY SAD; TGHAT zUKOVSKY DIED IN twine.

I can’t imagine what Carly Simon is going through.
    https://www.cnn.com/2022/10/22/entertainment/carly-simon-sisters-cancer-deaths-ent/index.html

Carly’s sisters, Joanna Simon (85) and Lucy Simon (82) both passed away this week from cancer. Accomplished in their own right, Joanna Simon was an opera singer, while Lucy Simon was a Tony Award nominated composer.
Losing family members is never easy, but to lose two members so close together is heart breaking.

Yes, I've read that too on the NYT. I wasn't really aware of Carly's sisters, but what a way to go away, one day removed from the other. I understand their brother passed away even earlier. May they all RIP. Carly is a few years younger (actually, younger than my own sister whom I'm optimistic about for quite a few years), and I hope we'll have her around for a sizable amount of time. Marvelous singer, marvelous composer. One of the greats from the late 60s/early 70s.

Not to mention the fact that she sang one of the all-time best Bond songs ever (whatever one thinks of TSWLM in other regards). Let's hope she'll be around much longer than her sisters.

No need to reach such respectable ages to pass away. Two artists died while or after performing this past week. First, there was haitian singer Mikaben, who died onstage while performing at the Accor Arena in Paris.

And actress Josephine Melville has tragically passed away after a performance at the Nottingham Playhouse :

Sad. Really sad. I don't have anything more to say about that.

The death of former Gemini (IV) and Apollo (9) astronaut Jim McDiviitt was announced this week. He was 93 years of age.

My grandmother passed away this morning. It had been years since I even last saw her. She always treated me and my siblings so well, always kind and getting us treats. Unfortunately, she also had severe mental problems throughout the time I knew her, believing things that were not true that caused rifts in my family as well. I'm sure she thought and said what she did because of issues that weren't related to her wanting to cause harm, though. I won't be able to attend her funeral or anything because of the side of the family she was on, which includes individuals that have done much worse and deliberate, irreparable damage to my other family. More than anything it's just hard to process she's no longer on this planet anymore. It's all too easy to take anyone's existence for granted, even when they are old, and the last thing you expect is to wake up to the news of their passing. I'll choose to best remember her for having always been so nice to me, and a true original in humorous personality.

That sounds like the best way to go about keeping her in one's thoughts and celebrating the story of who she was. Regardless, I'm sorry for your loss, @FoxRox.

I appreciate it @Creasy47! I'm not super distraught or anything just to clarify, but of course it's never something to take in easily either. Just like when I had a grandpa die, it had been so long since I even last saw them, and in that sense it's a blessing that the death doesn't hit as hard.

Thoughts and prayers for you and your family. I lost my grandma earlier this year as well. It hurts, and in terms of family, I can relate.

Thank you @MaxCasino. I'm sorry to hear you went through / are going through similar things. Like dealing with death though, as I talked about with a friend earlier, the best comfort is that none of us are alone in having to go through these occurrences.

Sorry to hear this, @FoxRox. My grandfather passed on this August. My family had been preparing for it, but it's still hard. Thinking of you and your family.

True. Friends and loved ones do make it a little better, though.

Sorry to hear of the loss of your grandmother, @FoxRox. Sadly I never knew any of my grandparents as three of them passed away years before I was born and my maternal grandmother passed away when I was about a year and a half. I hope you treasure the memories of your grandmother. She sounded like a kind lady.

Thank you all, wow. I am touched by the kind, outpouring responses. I know everyone who is left that knew her will miss her.

@Dragonpol My grandfather, the husband of my grandmother who just now passed away, died in an accident when my dad was just a teenager, so I never got to know him. Luckily my other three all got to live long and healthy lives, which is a huge blessing. Now I have just one grandmother left, and she probably does not have much longer. I was rarely in a position to see any of my grandparents that often because of distance, but I am lucky to have some really nice memories and know they all cared about me and my siblings.

Sorry to hear about your loss @FoxRox 3 of my Grandparents died when I was a teenager, and one long before then. I have a lot of good memories and decades later those memories always stick with you.

Thank you. I’m sorry to hear that, it sounds incredibly difficult to have gone through so much loss in one short period. Those good memories are truly priceless though.

It was a long time ago, though thanks mate. I am in my late 40's now and more philosophical about life, I always say remember the good times they never leave us.
