C'est reparti pour un tour ! On sunday, July 9th at 21.10 CET, France 2 (France) will air Goldeneye. Will it be the beginning of another Bond festival ? Time will tell.

Well, it is indeed the beginning of another Bond festival on France 2. So, on july 16th 2023, at 21.10 CET, we'll see Demain ne meurt jamais (TND).

An embarassment of riches on sunday, july 23rd on France 2 (France) at 21.10 : No less than three Bond movies in a row. To start with, Le Monde ne suffit pas (TWINE), followed, at 23.20, by GoldenEye, and at 1.25 am, by Demain ne meurt jamais (TND).

Mae West once said that "Too much of a good thing can be wonderful", but I very much doubt that there will be many people who'll stay till the end for this marathon.

Same thing for sunday, july 30th : First, at 21.10 CET, France 2 will air Meurs un autre Jour (DAD). Will follow, at 23.25, Bons Baisers de Russie (FRWL), and lastly, at 1.20 AM, Le Monde ne suffit pas (TWINE).

During my vacations, I found out that Arte (France) had done a small report about Ian Fleming and Jamaica in its documentary show Invitation au Voyage. Here it is, for those who can read it, followed by a similar subject about Paraguay and Graham Greene :

Both Quantum of Solace (Saturday Evening) and The World is Not Enough (Sunday afternoon) are on ITV1 this coming weekend.

Similarly I would expect Skyfall and Die Another Day on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th respectively, and Spectre on Saturday 2nd Sept and No Time To Die on Saturday 9th Sept, to complete the run of films.

Just one Bond movie on sunday, september 3rd at 22.55 on France 2 (France), but it's one of the (very) good ones :

    L'Espion qui m'aimait (TSWLM)

Somebody forked up, but I don't know who. Let me explain : Last week, I told you that on september 3rd, there would be only one Bond movie that sunday on France 2, the thrid movie of the night being a non-Bond film. I was only repeating the information given by one of the local TV guides, Télé 2 Semaines. But another TV guide, TV Grandes Chaînes, which I purchased yesterday, say that the third movie of the night, at 1.50 AM CET, will be a repeat of Vivre et Laisser Mourir (LALD). So, which is right ? I don't know, and I'm likely not to know given that at this time of night, I'll be sound asleep.

Anyway, the Bond festival is not over yet : on sunday, Sepember 10th, at 22.55 CET, on France 2 (France) :

    Moonraker

Followed, at 1.50 AM CET, by L'Homme au Pistolet d'Or (TMWTGG)

    Unless someone forks up again.

Rien que pour vos Yeux (FYEO)

Followed, at 2.20 AM CET by :

    L'Espion qui m'aimait (TSWLM

I know I may have said that before, but who's going to watch them at these ungodly hours ?

Sunday, september 24th at 0.40 AM CET on Fance 2 (France) :

The mind of TV programmers will likely stay a mystery to me.

As usual, Bond is a staple of holidays programming, and this year is no exception. So, here's the line-up :

Thursday December 28th at 13.50 CET on France 2 (France) :

    Tuer n'est pas Jouer (TLD)

Friday, December 29th at 13.50 on France 2 (France) :

    Permis de Tuer (LTK)

But that's not all : I also have the programing for RTS1 (Switzerland) :

Tuesday, December 26th, at 15.45 CET : Opération Tonnerre (TB)

Wednesday, December 27th at 15.50 CET : Rien que pour vos Yeux (FYEO)

Thursday, December 28th at 15.45 CET ; Octopussy

    Sunday december 31st 2023, at 14.10 CET on France 2 (France) :

    Mourir peut attendre (NTTD)

Now, that' a surprise ! Usually, Bond movies don't get put in the afternoons until a few years down the line. To be put on a sunday afternoon like that when it had its first airing 8 days ago, that's puzzling, to say the least.

If my computer hadn't given the ghost, I would have told that piece of news earlier, but as it is, here goes : Last saturday, the channel Culturebox has aired a concert by the Danish National Symphony Orchestra titled Agents are Forever. The concert (half Bond, half other spy movies and TV series) will be repeated on the smae channel on saturday, january 27th, at 22.30. If you can't watch it, go there :

It seems that RTS1 (Switzerland) will start a Bond festival at the end of March. So here goes :

    Friday, March 29th, at 22.50 CEWT :

    Casino Royale (CR '06)

    Friday, April 5th, at 22.50 CEST :

    007 Quantum (QOS)

And yes, I'm surprised by the title given for QOS. After all, when the movie was shown in french theaters, the title was the same as in Great Britain. Unless it's the title given in Switzerland. It wouldn't be the first time a movie had different titles depending on the market. EDIT : Indeed, according to the french Wikipedia page, 007 Quantum is the Quebec title. So there.

And BTW : CEWT = Central European Winter Time, CEST = Central European Summer Time.

I'm reminded of watching the BBC quiz, 'The Wheel' the other night. Theres a round in it when the celebrities try to boost the winning contestants' prize money by each being asked to name something from a category! The category? James Bond!, The Question? Name ANY James Bond movie! First up, TV chef Ainsley Harriot, his answer..."Goldfinger," next up comedienne Katherine Ryan, her answer, "Eh..eh..007?," I've never seen a James Bond movie!" End of money build! There ye go folks... they do exist!!
