Just taking the Aston out for a spin, Q.

Bond movies have always had an illustrious history of cars. From Astons to Lotus' and beyond, the cars have always challenged the looks of the women.

Out of sheer curiosity, I'm wondering what everyone drives. I don't care about income, or who got the best deal, but surely Bond must have had some sort of influence on what you drive. Or at least, how you drive it.

Car stories, history, and all that - right here.

    Actually, I just got a 2003 BMW 325ci (for $ 15,000 !!!) this week. My second car, after a 2007 civic ( :-S ).

I love it. 5-speed 2.5L V6 and drives like a dream. I definitely have a cocky Bond confidence driving it with the windows down :D Bond soundtrack + nice BMW = dangerous and fun.

    Here's the car:

    (that's my dad, not me)

EDIT: to explain the price for a 10yr old car...

It had >60,000 miles, new brakes, virtually no wear&tear, one owner, 0 notable accidents (if any), and overall was in great shape. I had looked for one of these a year ago when hunting for my first car, and stumbled upon this one last weekend when car shopping for my sister.

Couldn't be happier. If you can find one for a similar price and similar condition, don't hesitate and pick it up!

I live in the greater Paris area, so I don't need a car to get around. But whan I'm on vacation in Britanny, I use my mom's Renault Clio.

Before coming to live and work near Paris, I had a Renault 4L. Not very glamourous, I'll grant you, but it did the job. That is, until my brother totalled it.

Picked up a black 2012 Mazda MX-5 hardtop convertable just a couple months ago. Seriously, the most fun I've ever had behind the wheel, bar none. So much bang for the buck it's insane. Yes, I know it's never been in a Bond flick, but it's hard not to feel like Bond when you're driving one.

Used to have one of these:
    Golf1xp-45-gr1.jpg

An increadably strong car. Hit a sidewalk with 70 kph and three passangers in the back and it didn't even need any outlining afterwards. Loved it, but sadly, had to let it go after I started studying again (please note that my driving has improved dramatically over the years and I have lost some of my vigilante driving style). Now looking for a 25 y/o BMW 5 or 3 series (E30). Especially the convertible. But no, no Bond links I'm afraid.

Maybe not a direct Bond link, but it is still a British car.

No, use the image button under the 'Write Comment' tab when you write a comment. It should add
    [ img ] image url here [ /img ] with no spaces.
  • Finally now I understand. Thank you very much JWESTBROOK.

  • My current car and history below-

I started working when I was 15, it was a lot of work but it finally paid off. I managed to save just the right amount of money to buy my dream car, and here it is:

I have a 2011 Mini Cooper s John Copper Works with a unique color combo ( at least where I live), White Silver on the outside and British Racing Green on the inside , I love everything about it, just bought it 2 weeks ago with only 5,000 km and it still smells like new. Maybe not a direct Bond link, but it is still a British car. 211 horse power 6-speed 1.6 turbo engine... just amazing.

The engine sound when I change gears is just addictive and with a nice Bond soundtrack i feel just complete...

I've always liked Coopers. And seeing as their now owned by BMW (I drive a BMW) I like them even more ;)

The new Coopers look very unique, and their saying they plan on expanding their line-up in the next few years to over 20 models I think they said. Crazy.

haha! I hadn't even noticed that. It should revolve to "MAYBNOT"..
  • I don't have a car anymore. I do have a Triumph Tiger 1050. Works like a dream, I got it 2nd hand but I've had basically no problems with it so far, definetly the best bike I've ever had.

Currently, I have no personal transport. It's much more cheaper and reliable for me to walk across the road and catch a train. Having said that, I miss driving very much, and look forward to buying a second car someday soon once the funds allow for it. Hopefully it's a step up from my first car, which was a 1990 VN Commodore. As most of us do with our first one, I sucked the life out of it.

Unfortunately, I never took a photo of it- but the pic below is a great example. Just change the rims to 5-spoke.

No, it doesn't look like a Bond car- but it's certainly seen it's fair share of action! ;)

Not exactly Bondesque. But as I commute 100kms to and from work each day, I need something cheap to run.
Also have a Mitsubishi 380 for family use.

I doubt Bond would be seen dead in one, but this is my current car from when I picked it up:

    578728_10151004480419737_1119145639_n.jpg

The car previous to that is probably as close as I'll own to any Aston:

    Well, it's the right colour!

Thank you! I also own a Bmw x3 and can agree with you, since bmw owns mini, the quality of the car has rose by 200%.

:-? I can kinda sorta see traces of Vanquish in the bonnet, as well as the seams and ridges around the front lights. Hope this helps. ;)
