There really is a vast variety of Bond hair styles.

Fleming did have Bond part his hair on the left. I don't remember him describing a specific length to Bond's hair with the exception of the LALD novel.

I tend to assume Bond's normal hair length was similar to Ian's himself or Hoagy Carmichael. A standard classic 1940's/1950's length. I think I prefer Connery's first 3 haircuts as well. Something timeless yet classic about his early look. I also like a good tapered nape.

I actually like all of the Bond actor's hairstyles. Lately I'm digging Sir Roger's later pompadour look. Reminds me of THE SAINT only without the shine.

    All of bond actor's hairstyle?
    Even this one? :>

The Bond hair is basically side parted from the left, ideally with a comma falling to the right of the forehand, as described by Fleming. Other than that, we have seen various takes on this over the past 50 years depending on the fashion for that period.

We had Connery's longer pompadour in the first 2, his shorter top brushed off the head in GF, and then the sensible flat accountant look in TB and YOLT.

Lazenby probably had the coolest style, with his Connery/McQueen Bullitt cut but with slightly longer sideburns.

In the 70's and 80's Bond's hair got more fuller as these two decades went on, starting with Connery's longer greying style in DAF, to Moore's thicker side sweep, through to Dalton's Miami Vice 80's big hair.

In the 90's Bond's big hair reached its pinnacle in GE, where Brozza donned the thickest and longest style of them all. Some loved it, others hated it.

And then from TND onwards, we've seen the Bond hair go slowly the other way - shorter and tighter, reaching its pinnacle on the other end of the spectrum in SF, with the shortest crop of them all.

I think that just about summarises the Bond hair. B-)

Craig looked his best overall in CR and QOS. He had a good haircut, great physique, and clothes that actually fit him.

Brosnan's GE hair was too long and too perfect looking. He looked more Bondian in the last three films when it was cut shorter.

Dalton had basically the same haircut as Brosnan in GE but it looked more effortless which was more in keeping with the character.

Moore looked his best in his first four before he got that ridiculous 80s pompadour starting in FYEO.

Overall though, Connery's swept back look in DN and FRWL and Lazenby's short side part in OHMSS are the two most Bondian haircuts in my opinion. However, my personal favourite is still Dalton's TLD hair which I adopted as my own hairstyle several years ago.

Yes, agree with all of this, although I do prefer Connery's GF style, and I also like Dalton's LTK cut in certain scenes (not the casino, lol), as the longer sideburns give him an edgier look, reminiscent of Lazenby's.

Brosnan (Goldeneye) and Craig (Quantum of Solace) 2 of my favorite haircuts.

Skyfall is my least favorite haircut. It makes Craig look older, and like a stunt-double of himself, and like a roughneck plumber.

Best (not including Connery since he wore a toupee)
Moore: TMWTGG. The swept aside look works on him.
Dalton: TLD. Stylish without being showy.
Brosnan: TND. Good compromise between the male model look of GE (too elaborate) and the lawyer look of TWINE and DAD (too short). Surprised to read that his hair was grey by TWINE.
Craig: QOS. He always looked better with longer hair.

    Worst:
Moore: AVTAK. Looks like a helmet. Can't blame him though, he must have been really thinning at that point.
Dalton: the infamous LTK "badger." Probably the most bizarre haircut in any Bond movie. What were they thinking? It makes his head look twice as long.
Brosnan: TWINE. Too spikey and "up."
Craig: SF. Way too short. Very unbecoming. Looks like a bouncer.

I agree with slide99 on everything.

Dalton's hair style varied a lot. When styled at its best, it looked really good. His hair was long, but his hairline was also receding. This means the hair can cover up the receding areas, but also, having too much hair in the center draw attention to the recession on the sides. Yet he looked good with the slicked back hair in LTK.

I always found the Skyfall hair weird.
I can understand the first scene, but when we resume with Bond later, he has the exact same cropped short hair, which makes little sense since he seems to have let himself go, not washing (according to M who advise him to take a shower), so why would he have his hair trimmed?
Maybe they tried a long hair wig and Craig rejected it, or Mendes is just a very bad director who knows how to surround himself with talent like Deakins to hide that fact, which is what I think, and who doesn't care about the details.
I heard that's how they had to CGI Craig gloves because Craig used the palmprint gun with the gloves on, which Mendes failed to notice when Craig suggested to keep the gloves. He just didn't give a toss.

To me Connery has the most timeless haircut in TB. Moore's and Brozza's looked great for the era they were in, Dalton's not so much, and Craig's is too short for my liking.

This is what I ask for when I go to the hairdressers. I take this image in to show....

I must be the only person, who isn't a fan of Craig's Bond with longer hair in QOS.
At points in the film it looks cool like in the desert when it's messy, but at points like the M briefing and with Fields in the hotel room it looks flat like the fringe needs spiking up a bit

I'd love to know what specific products were used to style Bond's hair throughout the years.
I imagine Connery pre-toupee used creams or oil. Perhaps pomade?

I'd assume Laze and Sir Roger had their hair sprayed in place.

    Timothy, moose or gel perhaps?

Pierce, at least in in TND did use a specific gel and spray also pomade for certain action scenes. I don't recall the brands, though.

I imagine Craig using a forming cream.
Anyone have an insight on this?

Just found this photo, which to me epitomises how Bond should look with his hair.

Agreed. The Steve McQueen thing was a bit full-on. The spikier 'do from CR was just right

I have a suspicion that only @talos7 could likely answer... Was Craig's hair cropped short in SF because he was getting plugs? I'm fairly Connery'esque, naturally-- as in I was thinning hard in my 20s... So a follicly challenged man such as myself take care in studying hairlines and so on.
Remarkably, Craig seems to have thicker hair in his 50s then he did when he started Bond... Am I wrong, @talos7

There was a spoof thing I saw with Craig seen on the laptop in M's office and this cleaner talking to him. It might have been children in need or comic relief or something, (I saw it on youtube). And it looked like he'd got Connery's Thunderball wig on. I thought that was quite a tribute.

Indeed they crop your hair when you get plugs, but that is because it's easier to work that way.

Stars with unlimited money for these kind of operations, usually have them done without cropping the hair, it's longer and thus is higher in price, but more discreet when you are a public figure.

His short crop in Skyfall might be from a transplant, but a year prior, because if he just did it, he would have scarring in the places where the surgeon put hair back. As it takes a year for the implanted hair to grow, this need to be done a full year minimum before you shoot a film.

But, here's the catch, after a full year, your new hair is growing. It will be short though, so in order to have even hair, you might have to crop your whole haircut short then.
