Will there be a "salute" to the 50th anniversary of Bond in "Skyfall" like there was in "DAD" for

the 40th? In "DAD" homages were made to some of the most famous Bond scenes. A "wink" to the 50th year would be even more appropriate than one to the 40th. I thought it was interesting that Michael Wilson stated he'd like to get all the Bonds together. I'm not certain he meant into a scene. But how cool would it be to have all 6 around in a card table for a scene in "Skyfall"? I doubt it would happen. But I feel sure it would be a crowd pleaser.

    I don't know if I'd like to see nods or homages to the previous films. I thought that was one thing that tied DAD down, because it had to exploit the 40th and all. I hope that "Anniversary Bonds", as they may come to be known if there's more than one, don't become a lasting tradition.

    I think with DAD, the emphasis was not so much on it being the 40th anniv, but more an emphasis on it being the 20th film in the canon. I say no more 'anniversary films' until the 75th, then the big centennial. I'm pretty sure there will be very subtle references to previous films (unlike DAD) in Skyfall- such as a possible scene with the DB5 driving around at night (a la GF). However, Wilson and Craig's main goal is to make the best Bond film they can for the 50th. As I said a while back- that attitude would be a better tip of the hat to Fleming and the EON franchise than any in-your-face homage could ever be.

    Should there be as many as in DAD? No. But come on, Bond only turns 50 once there's got to be something

    I was about to say the same thing. One or two homages or winks wouldn't be too bad but I hope it's nothing like DAD where it become more of a clip show than a story.

    You needn't worry. Daniel Craig and Sam Mendes have already made it clear that they want to make the best film in the franchise. Ask anyone in the street to name a Bond film, and they will likely reply with GOLDFINGER. It would appear that EON want people to reply with SKYFALL when they are asked forty years from now.

    Well, Craig clearly thought they rushed into QUANTUM OF SOLACE because of the deadline imposed by the writers' strike. They clearly could have delayed production by a hundred days, commissioned re-writes of the script (the strike only applied to Americans, and one hundred days is enough time to re-write the film) and maybe moved the release date back a bit, and they would have had a much more polished film without being affected by MGM's financial crisis.

    But on the upside, look at Craig's off-season. When EON was pumping out Bond films every other year, the actors got very little down time to pursue other projects. But between QUANTUM OF SOLACE and SKYFALL, Craig got to do a very wide range of films and work with some world-class directors. He did a cowboy film with Jon Favreau, a dark R-rated thriller with David Fincher, an animated adventure film with Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson, and a horror film with Jim Sheridan. The only other way he could have gotten more range would have been to land a role in INCEPTION with Christopher Nolan, PROMETHEUS with Ridley Scott, and/or RUSH with Ron Howard. The Brozzer, on the other hand, had a similar range of films during his downtime (MARS ATTACKS!, DANTE'S PEAK, THE MIRROR HAS TWO FACES, THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR and THE TAILOR OF PANAMA), but he had to stretch them out across seven years. So I think Craig's off-season between QUANTUM OF SOLACE and SKYFALL has given him a lot of opportunities to flex his acting muscles and really throw himself at some projects for the love of them, rather than to give himself something to do between Bond films. So I think he'll have a really fresh approach to SKYFALL, and the producers obviously think highly enough of him to give him an excellent script, cast and crew to work with. Even if SKYFALL isn't the best Bond film, I think it will have successfully put the Bond franchise in a position where actors and crew members want to work on future films. I think BOND 24 will be one of the hottest properties to get involved with when production begins.

    I think we've had enough ' nods' to previous films in QOS and DAD combined to last for, say, another one hundred years?

    a wink and nod aren't bad... but thats it..

    one of DAD's many problems was that because it was the 20th film and the 40th anniversary, it felt like they were trying to shoehorn in as many winks, nods, elbow nudges, and homages as humanly possibly... hell, even the script has bits derived from almost every Bond film, some more obvious than others.... when you have too much stuff like that going on, the film becomes too crowded - and it almost gives off an aroma that the film doesn't take itself seriously, and is more concerned about presenting itself as a parody.... not to mention it becomes distracting, and looses whatever nostalgic feeling it was supposed to have over the years (IMO anyway)....

    in my opinion, subtle nods - like the painting of Bernard Lee in TWINE is perfect... it's in the background, it's subtle, and its not thrown in your face - thats the best way to go..... because then, it's more of a fun easter egg, instead of a 130 minute romp down memory lane.

    Honestly, if DAD kept the homages to just the Q Lab, it would have been a far better film. We didn't need things like Bond taking a grape at the Cuban clinic, like he does in TB, or putting the ticket in one pocket and pulling it out of the other like LTK, and we definitely didn't diamond encrusted laser. Though, Halle Berry coming out of the water in the bikini was welcome.

    The grape I had little trouble with. The diamond laser is BAAAAD! It hardly worked in '73, and we got another killer satellite in '95 - why they assumed we could stomach such a contraption a third time is beyond me. The Halle Berry scene annoyed me too TBH, but that's only because no mortal woman could ever grace such a scene the way lovely Ursula did in '62 and also because a scene like that doesn't have the same cultural impact today that it had approximately 50 years ago.

    I wouldn't mind something like the number 50 in one of the white dots at the start of the gunbarrel sequence, but don't go overboard again. I'd like to see past bonds make non speaking cameos, just walking past in the background.

    This is just going over old ground but I'll say it again in that I sincerely hope they keep any previous Bond references to a minimum, Yes it's the 50th anniversary of the James Bond series, the Wrestlemania of 007 if you will, but please let's steer clear of anything such as what we saw in Die Another Day, and as for the idea of having the previous five Bonds round a table with Craig at some point in next years release, while it's a nice idea, for the benefit of Skyfall I find it somewhat inappropriate and can't envisage for one moment this will ever see the light of day. All I ask is for a fun and eventful film fitting of the half century celebrations, we don't want it spoiled with over references of past adventures

    True but fortunately the EMP device is plausible - more or less. The laser... not so much. :)

    Yes, I do accept the EMP weapon, but space weapons in general are quite a problem to me. I especially hate it when realism is established, and then it's all blown in the sequel for a superweapon. This problem happened with the Battlefield: Bad Company series. The first one was just a simple rip-off of the movie Three Kings, and then BAM! the sequel opens up with some secret Japanese WWII superweapon that, of course, nobody but the bad guy knows about.

    Maybe the best tribute of all would be to make a movie that creates fun and escapism, rather than be so dark. That would require going back to the roots of the James Bond movies. Whenever I saw Sean and Rog on the screen playing Bond, they looked as if they were having a good time and fun in the role. And that "charisma", for the lack of a better term, transported to the movie audience, who, in turn, were transported to a level that allowed them to escape from the every day "rat race". I've yet to sense that Daniel has had a good time playing the role. He has come across as more business-like in his approach. Michael Wilson says they now want to go back to a "1960s feel". I hope he means that. Maybe Daniel can hit his stride in his 3rd attempt, much like Sean and Roger did on their 3rd tries in Goldfinger and TSWLM respectively.

    Well, you have to question the "60s feel" anyway. Which "60s feel"? GF doesn't feel a thing like DN or FRWL. And TB doesn't feel like YOLT. And OHMSS doesn't feel like any of the ones before. Which "60s feel" does he mean?

    Homages i don't mind to see in or for Skyfall:

    Bond is trowing out of Airplane by 2 villians and it end in the Europe flag in to the maintitles (Moonraker & The Spy Who Loved Me with a twist.)

    Reference to Goldeneye/ For England line: For the lady ? Personal ? No for Europe !!

    I think it is time to make clear that Bond no longer do things for England. At the time of Goldeneye For England line work very well, but those days i think it should be more clear that Bond should do things outside of England but be controlled by others. The lines not look like a agrement this time but a a disagree.

    Reference to TMWTGG maintitle with a twist: Bond his face be in to some water mirror. If needed Bond must open the shower (Reference to Thunderball maintitle)

    Movie starts with the studio logo's and the gunbarrel (As it be before CR see FRWL to- DAD) :*h*:

    After the studio logo's before the gunbarrel: Michael G Wilson & Barbara Broccoli presents..

    Movie starts with the studio logo and the gunbarrel changed in to the maintitle (Dr No)

    Bond at some house with Eve and M & Bill Tanner wil visit him (Reference to LALD with a twist). It be funny to see Bill Tanner get red face if he see Eve in some closet, in specialy if M visit Bond to ask where she be and a view seconds later Bill Tanner get a Sms from Eve and saved the moment.

    Shirley Bassey doing the title song.

    I would love to see a nod to the past but nothing heavy handed. It was done in OHMSS as Bond goes through his desk.

    They will have to be very careful about any homage to the previous films because the series started again with Casino royal and this will be the third film, so Bond hasnt been married, met blofelt or been into space!

    Therefore scenes like in DAD when they reminise at Q branch looking at gadgets from previous missions wont work.

    They could have the old bonds play cameo roles but please no in jokes like "this would have never happened to me".

    no cameos by sean or rog please. would be awful. in fact lets leave homages and refs to past movies out altogether please. they usually dont add much.
