Yes, it's sad and unexpected. I wish His Majesty a speedy recovery and a return to full health.

I was just thinking of the change we've seen from the monarchy over the last few years. It used to be the case that the doctors and consultants weren't allowed to tell the monarch that they had cancer as it was felt kings and queens couldn't be told that. I recall the scene in Season 1 of The Crown (not always a reliable source, I grant you) where King George VI is coughing up blood and they put it down to breathing in the cold morning air when out hunting as opposed to it being lung cancer caused by heavy smoking. They kind of confirm him in his delusion to help put his mind at ease. Fast forward to today's times and King Charles III has come out and said he has cancer and he has been praised for sharing this diagnosis. Somehow it makes him more relatable to ordinary people than him having a euphemistic "mystery illness" as might have been the case in past times.

I have a lot of respect to King Charles III for bringing greater awareness to the possibility of prostate cancer and now his own cancer (I am not going to speculate).

According to recent figures more men have gone for checkups since the King made his health issues public.

Yes, it's great that such high-profile public figures can help raise awareness about cancer and the need to get routine health checks. They have a large platform so it's always good to see them using it for the greater good.

This news has come as a shock to me - Catherine, the Princess of Wales is undergoing treatment for cancer:

I wish her all the very best and a full recovery. I've always liked William and Kate. They are the future of the British monarchy.

I recently deleted all news outlets on my feed due to how appalling they have been with regards to Catherine. A friend texted me earlier to inform me about her statement, very sad and made me feel angry. May Catherine make a swift recovery and privacy.

Yes, the way that Catherine has been treated over the last few weeks from the edited photo story and all the conspiracy theory rubbish to medical staff accessing her private medical files has been truly appalling. Now the media has had to climb down with eggs on their face. The media is pathetic. When Princess Diana died in Paris in August 1997 trying to evade the paparazzi that should've been a watershed moment. Sadly, as we can see, it was anything but and the intrusive media machine has continued unabated.

To be fair, those rags would never do things like that if there wasn't a public for that.

Never an excuse. The media has responsibilities. And the public has to be taught on good taste and values. Catering to the people whilst degrading the public school system with facilities and proformatic teaching styles is a dangerous business on the long run, and we, more than ever, are at that breaking point, where the people vote for right wing parties all across the globe, and are hungry for rags and rumors. The world is run by the media nowadays. They are the real governments, because they intertwine with the people through social media, and create a faux democratic dynamic with co dependency and fallacious truths.

We need better media, better teaching, so we can have better people. Waiting for better people to just "happen" so we can have better expressions of them, like the media, is the most dangerous fallacy of our time.

    All IMO, of course.
