Final scene in CR: I didn't want to leave the theatre, that's how excited I was for the follow-up movie. The music, Craig's "Bond, James Bond"... Couldn't have been better!

Final scene in QOS: the magic starts when Yusef and Corine walk into the room. Great acting, powerful moment, Bond tossing the necklace in the snow... Redeeming scene in a challenging film.

Final scene in SF: like going back in time to the glory days of old, restoring the good stuff we all fell in love with as kids. "Eve... Eve Moneypenny." Then the door, the office, "M". I freaked out! (in a good sense)

When I saw the Monepenny and new M introduction, then the 50th anniversary logo with 'James Bond will return' at the end of SF, I was litteraly jumping up and down on my seat, same as the end of CR. So I very much agree with the thesis.

I'm trying to draw a mental picture of that, @DaltonCraig007 ;-)

I get a weird midget Roger Moore with a beard jumping up and down. Am I close?

Midget Roger Moore: Check, as I am quite smaller than him, but I am clean shaven. ;)

Couldn't argue with that as I actually said that in another thread yesterday.

I have think about it. Inspecialy before Colin Salmon made his comeback in Arrow.

About Tanner SR: At time of DAD there plan sequel with Falco as villian that never happend because the script changed. Some people mabey remember i sugest to make end of Tanner Sr in pretitle scene and M killing his murderer Falco at Tanner his funeral.

    Disagree.

I agree. The ending of scene of CR is my favorite to any Bond film, the one in QoS is well-done, and the one in SF is a perfect set-up for continuation/50th anniversary tribute. Personally I definitely think Craig has had the best collection of final Bond film scenes.

I think the Craigs may even, at least for me, have endings stronger than (or as strong as) their openings. Let's see:

in terms of quality and IMO
    - CR: final scene = opening scene(s)
    - QOS: final scene(s) >> opening scene(s)
    - SF: final scene > opening scene

I agree with you on both CR and SF, but not QOS. The car chase is masterful, and ends with one of the best moments in all of the Craig films. "It's time to get out."

I guess I'd tend to agree. The final scenes of Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace were quite strong, although I couldn't say the same thing about the final scene of Skyfall. The amount of fan-service they decided to cram into that minute or so of the film was cringeworthy.

The final scenes of the Craig films don't really have all that much competition, though. They try to do something a bit more interesting (whether it's a twist on the iconography like in CR or a dramatic scene that ties together the themes of the film like in QoS) than the typical "Oh, James" final scenes that many of the other films tend to go for. As far as those types of endings are concerned, I rather like the endings of Dalton's two films, especially the one for Licence to Kill, which I've always had a soft spot for, despite the winking fish. The final scene for The Spy Who Loved Me was quite strong as well.

    Agree with thesis.

Only OHMSS did something different from the other 19 films before. Now is the time to reintroduce Bond with girl in or near water again, as being different starts becoming a cliche in itself.

I very much agree. And none of them is the recycled: Bond and Bond girl making out while MI6 is looking for them.

I agree, and yes, @Ludovico, like you said, none of them are recycled, which is very refreshing. I never mind the old hat endings of the majority of Bond movies, since it's sort of an expected staple of the series, but it's nice to have the variety shown with the Craig era. However, I would like to see the typical Bond and his woman ending in future Bond outings just as a way of making sure the series still appreciates its old traditions!

I'd love to see it again, but not so cliche. Fleming made some great endings which we never saw.

I'd still like to see an adaptation of the early scene where Bond and M are talking about what happened since their last meeting and Bond has been brainwashed.

I completely agree. And I'dd add that there are quite a few Bond movies and short stories that have several great moments left for future Bonds.

I couldn't agree more. TMWTGG would make a great movie adaptation, from its brainwashed opening, to Bond going undercover, to the exciting gunfight on the train and the final bloody battle in the mangrove swamps.

The closest we have come to this novel being adapted is in 2 movies, LTK and SF.

The beginning of the novel, with a returning Bond brainwashed after going AWOL is slightly like the beginning of SF, but nowhere near as good as the novel.

And Bond going after Sanchez, and being hired as someone useful by Sanchez is similar to the Mark Hazard role adopts in the novel.

Definitely. Also, I agree with @Ludovico that there are several great moments lefts for future movies.

I always assumed the LTK 'board meeting' scene where Sanchez is pitching his deal to the Chinese was taken from the Scaramanga-makes-sugar-deals meeting in TMWTGG (Hey, they're both villains selling white powders!)

What I like as a classic moment, is what Bond tries to do when he first steps into M's office in the book. (I'm avoiding spoilers.) I want that in a movie AND M's swift reaction. That moment never gets cold for me.

Also, the way Fleming describes that dance performance halfway through the book... I'm aroused for sure! Take that to the screen... ;-)

    The snake bit? Sure!

Also TMWTGG is one of the few novels when the henchman is the main antagonist.

I also love the fact that Scaramanga's party totally underestimate Bond, and are all at first enjoying the train ride, thinking they are going to get a great show from their host, watching Bond being murdered, but not realising what they are up against.

God, the more I think about it, the more I think its criminal that this book hasn't been properly adapted yet.

We have the train ride, including the little surprise on the rails, we have Scaramanga getting into Bond's appartment as he meets Mary, the backup of Felix listening in, Bond as an aide and someone in the meeting (can't remember the Russian's name) who's on the 'other side' and finds him out. That's all still usefull. And perhaps the scene where Scaramanga and Bond meet as well, that's a very tense moment.

so yeah, there's plenty of material still to be used.
