Seems like some progress. Obviously the strikes change the timeframe but for context, does anyone knows how long it takes from listing this to actual production news (casting and stuff)

I figure once the strikes are resolved the first bit of news we’ll ever hear is who’s hired to direct and what the release date is.

If we should expect a Fall 2025 release, I don’t think we’ll hear about casting until Fall 2024.

That would be great wouldn't it? Hopefully the writers/actors get the agreements they're more than deserving of and this strike resolves itself quickly.
Then we can begin to look forward to the next chapter of Bond

It seems to me this is the start of Bond 26 and the first big sign for some time that things have moved on behind the scenes. Or what does a Variety listing mean?

Still no sign of a limited company being opened that I can see. Mr Wilson and his sons have a company which they opened in 2020, which may be it I guess, although I'd have thought Ms Broccoli would be in on it if it were.

Does anyone here have access to Production Weekly? I wonder what the status of the movie is according to them and which producers they’re listing.

It’s just a list of film titles greenlit by studios, the only real significance of that list is that “Bond 26” has now been added.
I know that but usually at the very least they list the producers. Is MGW listed or not?

No names are listed, just film titles.

On the website, yes. But in the magazine itself not just the titles are listed.

And that one is listed as "Other service activities not elsewhere classified" and not "Motion picture production activities". So unless they can change that - and I really don't know anything about this - this ain't it. Late Harvest is sneakily a great Bond film title, though.

Bond is back (on Prime video, anyway). They're all there to stream free again.

I must admit, I’m quite surprised how much it does actually look like a Bond film!

Yeah, they used quite filmic lighting. How neat!

That looks WAY better than I imagined. I haven't really followed this and am positively surprised how Bondian the challenges look. I'd assumed they'd go to a couple of random Bond locations and do very standard adventure reality TV show stuff there. But this looks like they put a proper thought into making those things quite close to actual Bond moments. I may have to renew my Prime subscription after all...

I didn't get to watch it. Did those who did not succeed get killed ? Sharks, alligators, laser beams, etc ?

Has it been mentioned that the version of Quantum of Solace on Prime is missing the location captions? Very curious.

That would please some viewers 2008-2012 or so.

Plus likely upset some of those same viewers today.

I wouldn't want them for every film, but I actually LOVE the location captions in Quantum. The font choices are great.

Yeah they didn’t upset me at the time, and they’re a stylistic choice of the film and it seems odd without them. I guess this Prime quirk is some sort of by-product of doing versions for different languages..?

    That’s most likely.

I'd still like to rewatch the theatrical version where the Port-au-Prince location card was slightly different from what we see on the physical release.

I didn’t realize they were different

@PropertyOfALady pointed it out to me a while back with this article, though it's either someone was supplied with a working version that was never used or this was the one chosen for the theatrical release but inevitably changed to what we recognize today for the home video editions. It's been so long, I can't say with confidence which is the case.

They can both be seen here. It's a very interesting read.

I never realised that either. Those location cards are one of my favourite things about QoS, among many others!
  • I like the location cards in QoS too but dislike that the titles appear right in the middle of the screen. Especially the first one, "Sienna Italy" is jarring as it looks like as if it were the title of the movie.

I wish they had spent more time on the script. Stuff the interstitials.

Not gonna lie, I’m not a fan of location titles. But it was very much a stylistic choice in QOS to use different fonts, and I do find it quite cool admittedly. I suppose it adds at giving each location their individual character.

It's screams typography nerds getting to be needlessly extra but as a typography nerd I love that, in fact those title cards are probably the reason I am one of those people.

Amazon MGM Studios Plans Toronto Production Hub With Five Stages Leased From Pinewood Group

  • I can't wait until Amazon actually do something with the franchise. The game show was ok but not actually Bond specific.

Film director Doug Liman has written a scathing article for Deadline. He's very upset his new Amazon produced film Road House (remake of the 1989 film) is going straight to streaming.
Doug Liman Says He’s Boycotting SXSW Premiere Of His Jake Gyllenhaal Film ‘Road House’ To Protest Amazon MGM Bypassing Theaters For Prime Streaming Release

My plan had been to silently protest Amazon’s decision to stream a movie so clearly made for the big screen. But Amazon is hurting way more than just me and my film. If I don’t speak up about Amazon, who will?

Because contrary to their public statements, Amazon has no interest in supporting cinemas. Amazon will exclusively stream Road House on Amazon’s Prime. Amazon asked me and the film community to trust them and their public statements about supporting cinemas, and then they turned around and are using Road House to sell plumbing fixtures.

The streaming companies want their product available on their platforms not at the movie theaters. Amazon don't care if Road House doesn't get a theatrical release.

The Bond producers better have a watertight contract with Amazon when they make Bond 26. It's hard to imagine Bond 26 going straight to streaming but Beverly Hills Cop was the biggest box office hit of 1984 but BHC 4 is going direct to Netflix streaming. The streaming companies have no nostalgic loyalty to cinema.
