There’s some good stuff in DAF’s first half (Wint and Kidd are the best part), but the minute I get to the moon buggy and beyond, it’s almost entirely a slog for me - save for a couple neat bits. I did enjoy the film a little more than usual, but collectively it’s one of my least favorites.
Anyway. Great viewing as always.
Time for............
OCTOPUSSY, another go-to Bond that never lets me down.
Ever reliable Barry gunbarrel. Perfectly in sync to the action.
I love the opening shot of Bond driving into horse jump competition (or whatever it is).
I sure do like Roger's pompadour.
On the Tracks of 007 found some of these locations recently.
The Acrostar Jet is classic. This is perhaps one of the reasons I find this film so re-watchable over and over and over again. Bond doesn't have his Aston Martin, he uses another type of vehicle.
Filler up, please.
Classic.
Onto the new M played by the underrated Robert Brown.
My second favorite M, though Judi is far more iconic.
The Blu-ray is stunning. I love M's office in this film as well.
I even like to snap my fingers when he does.
He's pretty over the top. It's a funny scene.
I like the James Brolin version of this scene. He wore a similar suit to Roger here.
Okay, the casino bit.
Next to LALD, this is my favorite reading by Roger of "Bond. JAMES Bond."
Bond only gets one bite of his souffle before Kamal gestures it to be taken away.
Kamal eating the eyeball is still funny. Great expression on his face.
I wonder if Bond ate anything on that plate? Wonder if Magda liked it?
Sneaky Bond. This is one of my favorite sneaky Bond scenes in the series. Loved it as a kid when I saw this in the cinema.
The Octopussy seduction. I remember this scene being played on television during promotional segments for the film.
Vijay gets his.
This is one of my favorite Roger fights.
Roger kicked that guy's a$$ then through his face into the fish tank.

Years ago one Thanksgiving dinner I asked my Dad to pass me a knife to cut the turkey.
He held it up and said "MISCHA!!!!!!".
No one else thought it was funny but me. Yes, my Dad ,too is a Bond fan.
Bond shoots a lot of people in the head in this one as well. LOL.
NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN.
Bond has sneaked in some grub at Shrublands. Dandelion salad and goats cheese hardly sounds appetizing.
Meanwhile Fatima gives Chuck Cunningham a thrashing.
I love the shot of Bond hiding in the shadows. I remember all these scenes in the cinema.
Pat Roach is great.
Connery looks great as well in his black dinner suit and helmet.
Connery is really in top form here, IMO, looking the best he's looked since TB.

Same here. Connery’s first 4 are all some of my absolute favorites and make for tough ranking.
I have a hard time giving some of the other Bond films a chance to fit into my top 5 because those I never tire of those first 4 films. Masterpieces really.
Don’t blame you. They definitely are all in my Top 10, and at least a couple in my 5. They are infinitely rewatchable.
Either way I'm long overdue.
CASINO ROYALE
I'm at the Body Worlds bit. Bond just kicked Demetrius's a$$.
As he sits Demetrius' body down I wanted him to say: "Mind if my friend sits this one out? She's just dead."
Bond thinks it's funny when Richard Branson is frisked by airport security .
Craig looks good here and his rapport with Eva is excellent. I have a difficult time picturing any of the other Bond candidates pulling of the dialogue in that scene. What would Cavill have sounded like saying "Skewered. One sympathizes."?
Bond enters the hotel and blows his cover immediately. Vesper thinks he's an idiot now.
Here we go: the Mickey G cameo. Mathis is great.
The shot of Craig walking through the casino reminds me of a similar shot of Pierce in GE.
I'm very glad he's back in the new one. Thank goodness something is going right for a change.
CASINO ROYALE was my favorite Bond novel and for years I felt it was such a missed opportunity Eon never had the chance to make it into a film. As a kid I found the '67 version a disgrace. I appreciate that film more now, but still have a hard time watching it in one sitting.
Great summer as I was going into 8th grade and reading the novels. For some reason I didn't read them in chronological order in spite of having numerous copies of each book.
I saved many for the upcoming year's school book reports.
I lost respect for my English teacher when she called Fleming's writing "so-so" and proceeded to confused some of the movie plots with their literary counterparts. "Correction, ma'am. Jaws isn't in the MOONRAKER novel and no, 007 doesn't go into outer space!"
I love the bit where Bond loses. Craig genuinely looks gutted and upset.
Jeffrey Wright exudes cool as Leiter. I think he may be the coolest since Jack Lord.
Julian McMahon, Alex O'Loughlin, Cavill, or Goran Višnjić. Just don't see it.
Brosnan, on the other hand could have played that scene to the hilt.
I always thought the scene in SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE when Superman arrives too late and discovers Lois suffocated during the earthquake unintentionally funny. It's a pity because Reeve played that moment beautifully. Then as he flies into the air screaming I used to laugh during that shot. I still do.
Watching the Vesper death I'm reminded of that scene a bit, yet it's played with such effect as to be genuinely moving. Wonderful performances by both here. Craig is great.
Great viewing of this Bond. I'll have to watch SF at some point soon.
You've got me in the mood for A VIEW TO A KILL now.
Another go-to film which should probably triumph many others in my rankings, but ultimately usually ends up somewhere in the middle.
Gun-barrel! Yay Roger!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The contrast in the gunbarrel is more so here than the other Roger's.
If I had to pick a favorite opening shot the circle opens on in the series, this may be the most breathtaking.
I don't count the ones in which the gunbarrel doesn't actually open. Otherwise, QoS might give this a run for it's money.
The Beach Boys cover reminds me of a solid rendition one might here at an open mike.
Wow. Barry never fails. I love the music cue as Bond enters the ice sub and flirts with Mary Stavin.
Sigh. Oh well. We'll see...........................
Of course, perhaps all is not lost in that Fukanaga is apparently a strong supporter of this entry?

Roger and Lois Maxwell had amazing chemistry. I love Patrick MacNee. A legend.
