TB seems to be a marmite movie.
This was proven to be the case on another ranking thread some months back. It seems to be quite polarizing, with some like myself really loving it and others not being able to stand it.

    Like me !

It's Kara, the pace and a soppy Bond that does it for me....shame.

TB is a good Bond film. But it was the start of the makers trying to outdo the previous film by stuffing more action, gadgets and big sets into each adventure at the expense of character.

It's a big 60's spy extravaganza that looks great and is well made. It's just so bloody slow in places and overdoes everything so much it collapses under it's own weight.

The underwater battle at the end is fantastic though imo.

I have TB at 12, so I think it is a very fine Bond film with great underwater stuff, a beautifull location, a great femme fatale, a decent score (but not Barry's best), an OK villain, an attractive yet extremely naive Bond girl. Connery is also good of course.

The main problem I have is the first act which contains many plot holes and is not written very well. All the stuff that happens in the health spa is relatively unexciting and does not make very much sense. I also don't like the final fight between Bond and Largo. The editing and the back projection takes away all the excitement for me.

No nostalgia in my love for TLD (though I was born the year this was released). The first time I watched it in HS, I couldn't get through it, it seemed so bland. Now it is in my Top 3, consistently climbing through the years. Dalton is great, the plot is one of my favorites, love Kara, the music, the locations and scenery, the action is top notch vintage Glen and all of it makes up for the one weak spot which are the villains.

I do think TLD is coming soon (9 or 8), but hoping it can climb a few more as my #1 film has been long gone :(

TB a well deserved spot in the Top 10. I believe I had it #10 for this ranking, it is very close to slipping out of my top 10 but I think it will always be in the 8-12 range (not counting future movies to come out of course)

What is your #1 film just out of interest ?

    @barryt007 Moonraker :)

I forget what exactly I said my top 5 was for this poll when I completed it a month or so again. I just did a recent reranking and have the following top 5

    1.) MR
    2.) TLD
    3.) CR
    4.) LALD
    5.) FRWL

I just have so much fun with these five and I realize they range from serious spy thriller to ridiculous romp. Sometimes it's hard to explain other than I just have the most fun with these.

Good film choices, apart from #2,i dont think i have ever encountered anyone who has MR as #1...nice on,refreshing to see that for a change.

Same with me and TLD: I like it a lot until Afghanistan (good stunts though)

I must be one of the few people who enjoys the Afghanistan scenes!

But top 5 Bond film for me and has one of the best and most exciting climaxes with the cargo net fight.

Too high for me! And this anti TLD is shameful!

It's usually floating outside my top ten, the action in Spy... elevates it.

TSWLM only number 9. That's a bit of a shocker for me. Currently my number 1 but, even though I don't expect it to finish number 1 here, I'd have thought it would have been higher. However, that's what makes these polls so interesting.

Apart from a lot of other things wrong with it (boring villain, even more boring leading lady, cartoon henchmen) I find the action rather meh! to use a much used term here! The final battle is extremely slow, and that bomb diffusing scene, I nodded off!
Moore, and Carly Simons theme is about all I like about it! (Oh the ski jump goes without saying, but the rest of that pts is rubbish!)

Have no trouble placing TSWLM among the top ten, if only just. As cartoonish as it may be, I find it highly entertaining, with great locations and action scenes (another train fight that works so well!). A good mid/late-seventies Bond film, with Moore at his best.

I'd put it in the upper half but not in the top 10. A fairly good finish nevertheless.

So what have we got left?

    - DN
    - FRWL
    - GF
    - OHMSS
    - TLD
    - GE
    - CR
    - SF

SF will rob GF of the 5th place.

Next will be GE and TLD, that's a no-brainer by now.

These results have been far from inspiring to date, particularly the last two revelations. Disappointing, to put it mildly.

I hope for some better news in the days ahead.
