The 70s for me. My least favourite Bond and only one film (TSWLM) that I consider any better than awful.

Whichever decade had Moonraker come out.

Probably the 70's for me, too. The 90's aren't fantastic but they're solid.
  • Probably the 80s or 70s.

The 80s at least had FYEO and a couple of good Dalton outings. A lot of people seem to like OP too.

My least favorite would be the 90's simply because those are the Bond movies I revisit the least often. It may not be the worst decade in terms of overall quality but for whatever reason when I want to watch Bond I almost never pick a Brosnan movie.

Shoot me if you wish, hahahaha, but for me, it is the 60's! Why, you ask? Fairly simple explanation: I really have a difficult time getting through Goldfinger, You Only Live Twice, and On Her Majesty's Secret Service, and on a bad day, Dr. No can be quite tedious as well, leaving From Russia with Love and Thunderball as the only two '60s Bonds I can really count as good ones!

The 90s wasn't an outstanding period for Bond I have to admit but it did have GE which salvages it significantly.

It also had a sad but pogniant farewell for Q and a cool boat chase on Bond's home turf.

If I had to pick my least favorite decade, it probably would be the 70's - and that is hard for me to do because TSWLM is one of my very favorite films. Not overly fond of TMWTGG and I dislike Moonraker. LALD was fun.

The 80's had FYEO (love it!) and Dalton's. :)

Not a big fan of either DAF or TMWTGG either but they had their moments.

TSWLM is one of my fav's and MR...well...its just...silly :p but at least it has some great music.

I find moments in every Bond film, including Moonraker and AVTAK. And yes, the first full half of DAD.
  • Time to crunch some numbers. According to my own Bond ranking, the decades fall thus in the power ranking:
    60's: 1, 2, 4, 7, 11, 14 (avg: 6.5, median: 5.5)
    70's: 8, 16, 19, 20, 23 (avg: 17.2, median: 19)
    80's: 9, 10, 12, 18, 22 (avg: 14.2, median: 12)
    90's: 5, 13, 17 (avg: 11.66, median: 13)
    00's: 3, 15, 21 (avg: 13, median: 15)
10's: 6 (not counted, for obvious reasons)

With this in mind, we get, from best to worst:
    1. 60's
    2. 90's
    3 (t) 00's, 80's
    5. 70's

A few changes could be made, like weighting it by number of Bond films in a decade, pushing the 80's over the 00's.

    90s easily the worst IMO

This is probably how I would rank it:

1.) 60s- Basically hit after hit after hit, something very rare in any series. DN is a classic origin, FRWL is a masterpiece espionage film, GF is iconic, TB is a behemoth Bondmania-sparking and rousing adventure, and OHMSS is a very deep and engrossing film with a lot of unforgettable moments for Bond. I still need to rewatch YOLT and see it with fresher eyes; it has been too long.
2.) 00s- What can I say? Dan in CR, QoS and Skyfall more than make up for the elephant in the room called DAD.
3.) 80s- If only for Dalton)
4.) 90s- It can be a toss up at times, but I am a bigger fan of this Bond as opposed to the celebrity he seems to be in the 70s. No thanks.
    5.) 70s- Nuff said...

    70's

60's - Loved them all except YOLT
70's - Don't like DAF or LALD, and the rest are meh.
80's - OP and AVTAK are a bit meh but I like the rest.
90's - TND is kinda boring but not bad.
00's - DAD blows. CR kicks ass. QOS is also kinda boring but not bad.

I really liked it, Craig now has two films in my top 5 list. And I don't think QOS is as bad as many make it out to be. So I think Craig has a very solid track record so far.

I love QoS and Dan's era as a whole as well, and I think he still has more to show us. As Frank Sinatra sang, "the best is yet to come." ;)

"the best is yet to come."

I sure hope so. I mentioned this in another thread but I was thrilled to see where Skyfall left off. We got Moneypenny and Q back as well as a new M with his classic office; things have been teed up pretty well for Bond 24.

The 80s were such a repugnant period. Moore's run sputtering to a halt, the widespread cocaine use and rampant excess of Hollywood, and OH! That horrid music! The 80s gave us some of Bond's worst, Octopussy and AVTAK.

But Dalton's (who was a secretly confirmed coke head in those Hollywood days, little bit of trivia) run was a bright spot, the very first reboot lets say..
  • 90's for me The Bond films got too silly for my liking. Not Brosnan fault (although he never convinced me as a kickass Bond ) too much CGI, tomfoolery and sadly Bond Was sidelined for most of it.

70's- Not great, Moore wanted to play Bond different and his films are fun but far too much making Bond look stupid and OTT for my liking. DAF is Connery at his worst.

80's- loved Dalton as Bond but his film's just never suited the way he wanted to play Bond imo. LTK and TLD are good Bond films. FYEO is Moore's best Bond film and he should have ended it there but i have a soft spot for AVTAK. But the 80's and Bond didn't mix to well.

00's- My Favourite Bond Craig with the Awesome Casino Royale and the great QOS (underrated among Bond fan's imo) but DAD was awful. Skyfall is another awesome Bond film From Craig. Best Peroid since the 60's.

60's- YOLT is the only weak blot on anotherwise perfect run. Connery is awesome as Bond (i prefer Craig's more darker take on Bond but only just) Dr No, FRWL and Goldfinger are perfect. Thunderball is a bit hit and miss but hold's Connery's best performance as Bond. But the best Bond film from the 60's was OHMSS, Yes lazenby is a bit hit and miss as Bond but Diana Rigg is the perfect Bond Girl, Great soundtrack and still a gut wretching Ending that still gets you.

No it wasn't a reboot but a different take on Bond from before. I'm not surprised if thats true Dalton comes off like a bit of a jack a lad, who likes his women (although i never understood what he saw in Whoopi Goldberg) and drink and drugs. Listen to the commentary on Hot Fuzz he seemed to have lived a interesting life.
