Where would Indy be in your Bond rankings?

Given the announcement of Indy 5 which has been met with justifiable trepidation by a lot of us, it started me thinking where would the 4 Indy films end up when ranked directly alongside the bond films?

Do the Indy films maintain as high a standard as Bond over the course of the series? Raiders is probably the finest action film ever made but then Crystal Skull is an absolute abomination. So when going head to head v the 24 Bond films where do the 4 Indys fit in?

My own:

Couldnt bring myself to go against OHMSS for number one but Raiders is so good it cant be any lower than number one either.

Last Crusade is as good as most top end Bond films but Temple of Doom is only on a par with the lesser Rog and Brosnan films. Less said about Crystal Skull the better. Overall I think the Indy series maintains a similar quality level to Bond - one stunning film, one very good one, one average and one shocker.

We really have to hope Spielberg has something amazing up his sleeve otherwise he wouldnt sign up to do it. Impossible for the new film to beat Raiders and probably Last Crusade but if it gets to the level of Temple of Doom then I guess we have to be happy.

    It would be great, when the Indy thing has run out, you would adapt the thread for maybe including other franchise into a Bond ranking :)

    Certainly when Indy peters out it could be adapted to other franchises. Although for me there's only Indy that comes close to Bond.

    The only other two possibles I can envisage would really be Bourne and MI as I don't really think you can directly compare Bond and likes of Star Wars and I'm not interested in stooping to dross like the Marvel universe and Fast and Furious films.

    Even after just two posts this thread is proving controversial with two people ranking the lamentable Crystal Skull in midtable!

    While I agree that Skull can be viewed as lamentable compared to the other 3 classics, it still is one of the best action/adventure movies of the last 20 years.
    Cate Blanchett is simply irresistible as villainess imho.
    Ford looks great and still kicks ass.
    Shia LaBoeuf...well...ok...sadly Chris Pratt was too young looking back then :))

    They wanted to do something a little different while also bringing back Marion... the script could definitely have been better, but the execution was pretty good. Hating Crystal Skull is like hating QOS... "It's not like the others! It's not as good as Goldfinger! I would have made it differently! Waaaaaaa!"

    Yes, I actually like it a teeny bit better than Raiders for that very reason. Crusade made Salah a buffoon for comedy's sake, and Skull tried to be too funny as well. But I do like 'em all!
    Oh, and I just found out that Indy goes into space in the next one.... don't know if I'm gonna like that. #-o

    Props to you all, I don't know how you can rate two different series together like this. Took me years to get around to doing my first ranking of all of the Bond movies, so trying to inject a separate franchise into something like that would never happen on my end.

    Actually, that's not the total truth, for 28th place would hold 'Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.'

    Well if I was you I certainly wouldn't! KOTCS the 6th best film out of the 28 =)) =)) =))

    Actually it's tedious and protracted elimination games I don't do.

    This thread has turned out to be a real eye opener. Any normal person would assume DAD and KOTCS would be an eternal battle for 27th and 28th but it's only a matter of time before someone actually puts KOTCS at number one.

    I guess things like this explain why Donald Trump actually might end up getting elected.

    That's actually not only unrelated, it's also a little uncalled-for.
    Stupid folks would vote for Trump, yes. But art is in the eye of the beholder. It's not a reflection of intelligence or emotional distress, but rather the effect a very complicated chain of life events, parenting style, personal beliefs and opinions, and self-trained & cultivated tastes.

    When I see those rankings I'm not sure I wanna see Batman rankings within Bond.

    Have to admit I was concentrating more on the Indy rankings and knocked the Bond ones out a bit quick so could do with a bit of a polish.

    But there's no comparison between GE and KOTCS.

    LALD is very average whereas MR is sheer entertainment with Rog at the top of his game. Not even close.

    No Bond touches ROTLA for me, it's the quintessential action adventure film, they broke the mould when they made that film and no blockbuster has come near since, the only film that tops it for me is Jaws.

    I confess to finding the Indiana jones films wildly overrated. I watched Raiders for the first time a couple of years back and it was just meh, that was ok. I can do without the theme tune blaring out every 5 minutes as well. Temple of Doom, they got to the bad guys lair and 15 minutes later everything's sorted after some really dumb hypnosis crap. Last crusade should be good with Connery but his distinctive voice wasn't there (didn't he have throat problems around that time?) Also I thought the chemistry/script was poor between father and son. In the ROCK (1996), his voice was much more like it's old self. Haven't seen the new one but heard it's a load of balls.

    one more thing, why is LTK so low? Good to see you're a TLD fan though, putting it at 17 like @Thunderfinger is a bannable offence in my opinion.
