Looks like a slam dunk, as it should be, imo.

It's film for me too :

    Book : 0

    Film : 3

    Tie : 0

Frankly, there was really no contest, TSWLM being the best Moore Bond.

I rather like the book, despite being "different". I find it interesting to immerse myself in the experience of an ordinary person who just happens to encounter Bond in an extraordinary situation. But I like the film too, so I guess it's a tie.

It all has ended in a tie here.

    Three to go now.

Next up is: ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE

Love them both. A lot. If they would have kept Tracy's Lancia in the film instead of that Mercury I probably would have chosen the film. It's a silly tidbit but it makes a difference for me. I'm going to go with a tie here.

    Welcome to Japan, Mr. Bond.

Next up is: YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE

Though I adore the escapist fun of the film, the book still wins.

    @GoldenGun

I missed OHMSS. Not that it matters for it will be a tie too.

    Book: 3
    Film: 0
    Tie: 5

    And as for YOLT:

    Book: 2
    Film: 0
    Tie: 0

The book is so much more cohesive and so much stronger than the film.

Book it is for me too. I love the escapism of the movie, but the book is superior.

While I like the book, I'm not entirely sure what TSWLM movie would have been like if Christopher Wood didn't have the basic plot structure of Roald Dahl's screenplay to use. I feel like liking TSWLM and disliking YOLT would be like biting the hand that fed it. On the other hand, the novel is excellent and making the movie YOLT before OHMSS and disregarding the novel makes the movie OHMSS seem like it has a giant plothole, which can be annoying. However, I usually just follow up YOLT with DAF and treat the film OHMSS similar to CR so it's not really a problem for me. And I really love Donald Pleasance's Blofeld. Would I be happier if the film followed the novel? Sure, but it already happened the way it did and YOLT can be a great deal of fun and without it TSWLM wouldn't be the film it is, so I say "tie".

    YOLT:

    Book: 3
    Film: 0
    Tie: 1

Two very different beasts, I find the film ok, but I love the book. Melancholic, with
a fantastic ending. With Bond able to give full rage to his anger!
( sorry if a bit late, but it won't affect the score )

    Last one is up folks.

Next up is: THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN

I'm going to end controversially here and go with the film. I much prefer Christopher Lee's sophisticated villain to the brutish one from the book.

I'm going with the book here. I prefer the Scaramanga of the film as well, but I really like the way the book opens and the ending in the swamp.

Time to wrap this baby up, here are the final results:

    Results
    Casino Royale: book
    Live and Let Die: book
    Moonraker: book
    Diamonds Are Forever: book
    From Russia with Love: book/tie
    Dr. No: book
    Goldfinger: film
    Thunderball: book
The Spy Who Loved Me: tie
On Her Majesty's Secret Service: tie
    You Only Live Twice: book
The Man with the Golden Gun: book

    Clearly (almost) nothing beats Fleming.

    Book: 8
    Tie: 2
    Film: 1
    Book/tie: 1

The only exception is GOLDFINGER. Ties were achieved by ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE and THE SPY WHO LOVED ME. FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE received as many votes for tie as for book.

Thanks for your votes, chaps. See you around!
