    1. At the villa, a tuxedoed Bond knows something's up, casually impales his apple on the trident of the golden statuette, and draws his Walther.

    That s a cool moment.

Seems like there are quite a few cool moments in this. We've come up with a lot between us.

Looks like the opening sequence has turned out to be the winner.

Small detail, the PTS seems to be a highlight in most of the films.

Though in the 60's only the one from OHMSS is mentioned.

Then the big setpieces came from TSWLM onwards and only LTK's PTS didn't make the top choices since 1977.

It could have been, apart from the fact that Necros didn't need to fall to his death if he'd only held onto the net around him rather than obsessively (and suicidally in this case) holding Bond's shoe.

I agree. I think it's a great scene and a masterful example of the series' stunt work (as well as one of Barry's best action motifs) but it is slightly undermined by an action from a character who up to that point had displayed a cunning ruthlessness and snakey intelligence.

Now with these final results lets get just one scene from one film and latter. The final of each compete for the top 10 Bond moments of all time.

And make this The Bond scenes tournament.
    We go film by film.

    Lets start from the Beginning.
From the 3 most voted of Dr No we Choose the best, when we get to the best of that one, we proceed to From Russia with Love, Goldfinger Etc with each of their fianlists.

These will leave us with 24 scenes to vote for to choose the 10 best Bond scenes of all time.

It's a horrible CGI scene, for sure.

But in recent years, I have grown to better understand the idea. What Bond did was similar to "ski-gliding." In a way, EON was ahead of the curve on this.

The idea of ski-gliding across terrain was becoming popular, as seen in this video:

More recently, JT Holmes, ski-glided the Eiger and then para-jumped off one of the edges, Rick sylvester-style.

Note what Holmes says at the end: "I'm Bond." =D>
  • The cargo net fight just feels really real and raw in my opinion. There's the feeling that at any moment, Necros could kick Bond off the net, or the rope might snap or the bomb might explode.

EON isn't ahead of anything because no one did the damned stunt. EON used to scout the world for the most outlandish stunts and capture them on screen. Not just concept, the real thing.

@Birdleson: True. I am not saying the execution was good. It was extremely poor. But the concept was good. I am sure that today, they would hire Holmes to actually do the stunt.

One would hope, but based on Craig's parachute landing I'm doubtful.
The parachute landing was done for real, albeit with his stunt double.

No way. In Rome? I find that hard to believe. Where'd you see that?
There was a set photo back in March of last year of Craig's stunt double being hoisted up by parachute. I've been trying to find it with no luck unfortunately. To me, the stunt doesn't look fake in the slightest. The Brosnan one on the other hand, does.
