    I'm really surprised the Geiger Counter is taking more of a beating than the Identi-Graph. All the Identi-Graph did was give them the name to a face he already knew. Besides that, it couldn't be taken out into the field. The Geiger Counter is portable and confirmed to them the professor was lying about the rocks from Crab Key being radioactive, which in turn led them to finding Dr. No's Lair.

    Since it appears to be futile, I'm not going to defend the geiger counter anymore if only I think it's a mistake for it to be the next one eliminated among the bottom dwellers. I'd rather voice my opinion now instead of have a conversation after the game about "Gee-whiz, that one gadget would be higher in my rankings."

    My criteria for the game was Gadgets that got Bond out of a clinch, sadly the Geiger counter was the only gadget I could think of for Dr. No. Since the PPK isn't a gadget it had to be excluded.

    That's a good criteria for gadgets. All of them cannot come through in a clinch either. The point I am making is that with the way the voting is going, it's a little inconsistent. For example, the ski jacket in The World Is Not Enough has already been eliminated even though that saved him from a serious injury at the very least.

    And when I take issue with the identi-graph, it's not its inclusion in the game, but rather just how useful it is to Bond since it doesn't get use in the field and gives him less information than the geiger counter. I can imagine Bond asking anyone in the intelligence community, "Who is the assassin with octagonal glasses and blonde hair," and they would know. Comparatively, Professor Dent lies to Bond about activity in Crab Key and he has to take it at face value until proven otherwise, which is just what the geiger counter does. It's not sensational, but it's useful.

    This is what makes it a game and fun to play, though. I find myself guilty of ignoring certain selection I later realize deserved higher placement.
