I thought I'd express my slight concern over Spectre, which is Bond going rogue. Seeing as we had Bond go sort of rogue at the beginning of CR then got his mission from M. Then in QOS, Bond went full on rogue. In Skyfall, the mission was given to him. Now in Spectre, another two of the missions are rogue, the main storyline and the Mexico City PTS.

    Going into even more spoilers,
The end of Spectre gives off a vibe that Bond will already be rogue (if you can call it that) at the beginning of Bond 25, if Craig is still Bond which I think he will be.

So if Bond 25 is Craig's last film he would have gotten a straight mission only twice and gone rogue in 5 times in 5 movies.
  • Well I guess this is what happens when the zeitgeist is about character-driven movies more than plot-driven movies... Skyfall was about Mother, Spectre is about Brother, beware of an eventual 3rd Mendes Bond movie, because Fleming did give a son to Bond :)

I haven't read any leaked scripts and tried to stay as far as possible from the spoilers.
But I have a question for those who read the script: - Is there a parkour chase in the movie à la Casino Royale/Quantum of Solace?

There are some short action moments without cars, planes/helicopters, boats etc. - but there is no real foot chase.

    Thank you very much.

There is a foot chase at the beginning. I don't know how long will it be in the movie, but it is quite good, not parkour but good

I can see it now, Bond going rogue, hunting down the head of the child support agency for criminally astronomical backdated payments.

We rarely see Bond build a relationship with younger characters. I have often wondered about a plot where he had to rescue a young guy (around 16 perhaps) and see how he would struggle to relate to him, it would go back and expore the themes of the death of his parents and being an only child.
PS M's son, there you go, instant plot. Spectre kidnap M's son from Eton. Bond tracks him down and rescues him. Where's my fee

I think they should have Bond at home with his house keeper, she's cooking his breakfast smoked salmon and scrambled eggs while waiting for the plumber turn up to unblock his toilet.

Then we get 10 minutes of him having a chat with the plumber before he goes off to MI6 where he accepts is mission from M like a good boy not quipping smart cracks or disrespecting his superiors.

Would that make some of you happy?

  • Do you think the nano-blood will remain in the movie ?

The "Make me disappear" line means it should still be in the movie.

But this nano-blood was first used several times in the early scripts, then after some change probably it was a kind of plothole, and I mean a Skyfall-kind of plothole (Oberhauser not using it to be sure Bond is dead, while he spent the movie before monitoring him with it), and then in the last script we have, it's yet another half-baked idea because of all the rewrites. It could disappear, since it's now so minor (but the audience will feel at the beginning it's important, IMO).

Brothers seperated at a young age. One destined to lead the biggest criminal organisation in the world. The other destined to be the one man to take it down. Now, that's a coincidence of unbelievable proportions. Better not to think too much about it ;-)

Any ideas on how Mr Hinx shapes up. All this talk from Bautista makes me yearn for a proper, physically imposing henchman. Is that the case?

Very much so. Maybe the most badass henchman ever.

I'm about to crack and look for spoilers. Any idea if the latest leaked script is around somewhere? I don't even know what to look for (extension?) and where.

I would say that in Quantum of Solace Bond is on an official mission the first half of the movie, just until the opera scene. In SP script he is obeying M´s orders, but maybe the wrong M ... On the other hand, in SF Bond is out of control some time, too, when he is "enjoying life". In some way, in every DC movie 007 is some time rogue and some time on a mission.
  • I just reread the script. Only my second time doing so, and the first since the trailer. I am surprised by how many dialogue changes there are, just in the few clips we've seen. Oberhauser saying, "You've come across me so many times but you never saw me. What took you so long?" is not there. Nor is his line, "I am the author of all your pain."

Another one is Bond's response to Madeleine asking if the life of an assassin is really what he wants. He doesn't say, "I don't really think about it" in the script.

Also not in the script is Monepenny saying, "I think you're just getting started."

Anyway, I bring this up because it really does seem that, although the sequence of scenes may be the same as laid out in the screenplay, the scenes themselves have been tweaked and altered quite a bit.

I saw this the other day on eBay - item no. 321827934632 - 'concept art from SPECTRE' - compare with the recent still from EW

Are they in a meat locker?
  • I will use spoilers for those who didn't see Mission:Impossible Rogue Nation. Seeing this movie and knowing the leaked scripts is quite something.
We were close to having two spy movies with the MI6 boss as a traitor !

Well, to introduce a black Bond to the larger audience, you'd have to put the cursor into super-normal territory to compensate I think ;)

Tried to avoid spoilers but I'm weak and have given in. So, apologies if this has been covered but does anyone know the significance of having OHMSS title music in the Spectre trailer? Is there a direct link between the 2 movies, or is it just a casual nod to the past?

Be strong grasshopper ...just two about two months to go. You are treading a path you cannot return.

Jk but seriously ..worth the wait I believe.

You are right of course and I will be strong. Was just getting a little exited if Part of Spectre (and Mendes) are linked to one of my favourite Bond movies, OHMSS.

If you are still reading this thread:

the last sentence in "Spectre" is "We have all the time in the world."
The rest you have to see at the movies in 2 months.

Well, I said I'd find out more and I've now heard from a second source-not as high profile as my first but still a key creative-that this is definitely Craig's last Bond;and again, that something in the screenplay makes this unavoidable, though they wouldn't say more than that, frustratingly. Whatever it is, they did say that a) this was NOT in the leaked screenplay and -get this- b) the original plan was to do something even MORE extreme but had rolled back on that. Now I don't know any better than you what this means but the implication was that they were really thinking the unthinkable. Yes, I know how crazy that sounds and sheer greed alone would tell me that nobody's going to kill off a franchise: I can only think that they had some idea to do it and yet not do it. And the only way I can think of is Craig's Bond is not THE Bond. That would explain why Craig has to go and I guess it would also explain the Dench anomaly. But maybe I've got the wrong end of the stick entirely. All that seems clear is that Craig is going and SPECTRE is going to be a landmark in the series. Again, I can't prove any of this and I don't have much appetite for being insulted so I'd appreciate it if the non-believers would just ignore me and let me discuss this with those that are interested.
