Totally agree mate
The topic has also been discussed with him in an interview with Vogue back in 2016:
"However, there is one franchise that O'Connell would be certainly willing to sign on to: Bond. When asked whether he would want to step into the shoes of 007, he seems genuinely shocked to be even asked (surely the only British actor currently feeling that way): "100 per cent, but I don't think it's realistic."
So what would Jack O'Connell, the actor who most often finds himself taking on the role of a troubled youth, bring to Bond? "I'd definitely not try and portray him with a Derby accent, I wouldn't have the audacity. I would make sure that if you were watching you would think, 'Yeah this guy is going to save the world.' I'd have a cracking suit and I'd get in shape. I would make myself triple hard so you knew if it went down, you could trust in James." His grin is never cheekier than when thinking of his dream Bond girl, a roll call of girls running through his head, (although he wouldn't name names) but is quick to namecheck his This Is England co-star Stephen Graham as a potential "brilliant villain."
The guy has a lot of charisma and a lot of talent. I say give him a shot if they can :)
Quite sure most of us do not find him suitable. Perhaps the new Robin, alongside Batman.
He’s 5ft 8 in! He even looks like a midget/ elf. No Bond candidate can be below UK average height which is 5ft 10in. ‘Nick Nack’s’ need not apply.....
On that Note, he looks like Ed Sheerans older brother. Hard nope from me.
Sadly I know it wont be Hardy Fassbender Hiddleston Hemsworth or Evans but I can dream for the time being
I'm pleased it won't be Hardy or Hemsworth. Both totally unsuitable. The others mentioned above are viable choices IMO.
Tom Hardy is too short and Hemsworth is, well.... not a very good actor and Australian.
Chris Hemsworth has played a very small variety of roles in film and is only ever really noticed for his role as Thor in the modern Marvel films. Once you get past his muscular build, his wavy blonde hair and his blue eyes, you start to realise that he is an atrocious actor. With his unbelievable forced fake British accent, his completely unconvincing body language and his complete lack of emotion, Chris Hemsworth is definitely one to watch in the acting world! With people like this on your screen, one only wonders how easy it is to become successful in Hollywood in the modern day.
“With the whole Bond process, I screen-tested many, many moons ago and it was, as far as I know, down to Daniel and myself – maybe one other,” says Cavill. “I think Daniel – sorry, Mr Craig – has done an incredible job of being Bond. And if it is indeed his last one, then the playing field is open. There are no conversations just yet, but we’ll see what happens. It would be a great, fun role to play.”
I wonder who the third guy was. If there was one.
If that was indeed the final 3 it really does show just how much BB wanted to shake things up and have a very different portrayal by picking Craig. Great instinct and at the time a big risk that might not have paid off. I think it has, in spades and the Box office agrees. Had one of the other two guys got the role I can imagine the films to have carried on in a similar vein to what we were used to at the time. Not necessarily story wise, just in the mould of the Bond character.

This is true. The personal angle is done to death for me, it can't always be a traitor or someone from Bonds past. The character of James Bond as created by Ian Fleming is so much more than that.
A government spy and assassin. Surely there's enough material for a writer/s with that alone.
Take all the Bond #7 casting with a pinch of salt for now. The tabloid and bookies odds are just click bait. NTTD hasn't even come out yet, EON are not focusing on the next OO7 for a while.
True but when DAD came out Tamahori and Berry were both critically well respected. And Pike was a rising young talent.
Agree. I feel like every Craig film with the exception of Casino Royale has taken this pathway. The Connery/Lazenby era films always had new villains (with the exception of Blofeld) that were working within the SPECTRE organisation, with each film being a new mission to conquer another threat within it. I'd like them to bring back that dynamic is they are going to continue with their introduction of the iconic organisation after No Time To Die. We don't need another film driven by revenge or a character from Bond's past as mentioned.
Always wonder what would have happened if Heath Ledger for the role in CR. He certainly had the looks and acting chops to play a young Bond in that film. He also was handsome enough for the role – but had that slight masculine angst. He could have been a good Craig surrogate.
My understanding was that Ledger was under consideration in 2005.
I also caught sight of Nicholas Hoult in an Armani advert playing on a big screen in Blackfriars station. He made a pretty convincing leading man in the video….certainly food for thought.
Nicholas Hoult could be one to watch out for @Pierce2Daniel good call
But besides his looks, he's a very talented and versatile actor. I'm not too keen on Nicholas Hoult. I don't think he has that slight edge that Bond needs.
