  • Upon an awesome rewatch, I can still say that The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) is the scariest horror film I’ve ever seen. Not quite my personal favorite, but easily a Top 10 of course.
  • The Autopsy of Jane Doe (2016). Until the last 15 minutes or so, I thought it was pretty impressive and scary. While not horrible, though, the wrap-up was a bit lackluster. Still recommended - excellent atmosphere, tension, dread, and mystery.
  • Vienna by default - the idea of 1970s New York City terrifies me!
  • Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983). Not as great as the original show, but still a fun, entertaining homage. Great choices of classic episodes to remake.
  • https://kotaku.com/star-wars-original-theatrical-cut-4k-restoration-leaks-screenshot-disney-2027-2000638887 Fingers crossed that it’s true, but I’m still taking it with a massive grain of salt. If it does happen, it would instantly, objectively b…
  • PSA: Criterion is having their 50% off flash sale right now. I went a little nuts and got 10 4Ks - but all films I wanted a lot and am very excited to own: Altered States (1980) Anora (2024) Double Indemnity (1944) Flow (2024) A History of Vi…
  • Random, small-scale rant, but I hate whenever the comparison “girls are like cats, guys are like dogs” gets used. For one thing, it sounds dehumanizing to people and reduces their complexity, but also, it’s stereotypical and is another way to say “a…
  • Coming from someone who loves Kaufman and the scene, I objectively agree it is tonally jarring. With TND, I found that the moments meant to be tragic like the boat massacre and Paris’s death didn’t really work all that well. On the other hand, I thi…
  • With all of his films now watched and mostly fresh on my mind, it's time for an Edgar Wright ranking. I have to say, this is one of the absolute toughest rankings I've done when it comes to exact ordering; he has just been so consistent so far. One …

  • Personally, I’m more drawn to Wright’s more serious movies (Baby Driver and Last Night in Soho), but the comedies I’ve seen so far (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) are still very good. I’m skeptical on if I’ll enjoy his Run…

  • Checked out The Boogens (1981) after it had been on my radar for a while. It’s not all that great conventionally speaking, but it has a charm about it that helped hold my interest even though most of the excitement doesn’t happen until the end.

  • One Battle After Another (2025). Definitely worth the hype - PTA always delivers! For my tastes it’s been a weak year for movies, so I’m all for this one running away with the awards. Updated ranking of PTA’s filmography: 1. There Will Be Blood (…
  • @Creasy47 I love The Faculty (1998) - it’s like The Thing (1982) meets Scream (1996)! I also will be binging horror as always.
  • Started my October / spooky season off with a bang with Let the Right One In (2008) - another first-time watch for me. Really gripping movie, and such a cathartic ending.

  • I never know for 100% certain, but the reason that Obanno asks Le Chiffre if he believes in God is that it is a threat of sorts, right? Like, if you mess with my money, nothing including God will save you.
