James Bond's 50th Anniversary - Your ideas and thoughts.

Although this is not strictly an event alert,it is still an event,and so ,in that context,what would you like to see happen in 2012 to celebrate 007's 50th Anniversary ?

This is obviously besides the hope that BOND 23 will be released then,which is something we all have in common.

So,what can be done to make the celebration of our hero more special ?

Maybe a get-together of all 6 Bond's for a special programme ?

Or something very extravagant ?

    I'm still hoping for one big box set of all the Bond Blu-Rays. The release of chunks of 3 and such is quite useless. Naturally, that is a simple request.

    I'd be awesome if there was a touring orchestra show with actors from the films coming along for the ride, so that people across the world could potentially join in the celebration.

    I agree about a nice big movie box. I suppose it never happened because of the hefty price tag which would be asked for the big set.

    Definitely a reunion of all 6 Bond actors. I'm thinking Connery would be the only one that might refuse to do it, but I'd be happy with the other 5 anyway.

    Well, according to recent news, he already refused to be part of an upcoming 50th anniversary special event where all of the Bond actors talk about their experience with the character. Lazenby, Moore, Dalton, Brosnan and Craig have all apparently agreed to it.

    Doesn't make sense to me though, because Connery did a Bond-related interview series not too long ago alongside Craig.

    -Big box of Bond Blu Ray and DVD's
    -New edition of QOS with deleted scenes and other goodies.

    That's all I really need at this point. I'm assuming they already released a big box set of the Fleming novels.

    I didn't know that .I dont see what his problem is with this ,he is always difficult to do anything re Bond.
    It's a bit disrespectful if he doesnt make the effort for the 50th .

    Last time there was a celebratory anniversary Bond flick, it was 2002. 40 years after DN, and look at the disaster that followed.

    Either nothing special for 50 year anniversary, do nothing special!
    No reunion, no cameos, it's been done to death and would be too much of a farce, you know, like the one from 2002.

    No no, nothing special for Bond 23. Just a very good film! That by itself would be the best gift for us, Bond fans, to collect.

    Besides that, I wouldn't mind if they re-released some of the classics for a short theatrical run, and please everywhere on the planet for a change.

    I really hope EON will have a lot of special things for the fans in 2012. As for Bond 23: no references, no cameos, just make the best Bond film of all time!

    Connery should appear along with other Bonds. I am sure he will get the respect he deserves and if there is some one who could persuade him, it is Roger Moore.

    I think if the powers that be can get Sean Connery involved in any substantial form, the 50th anniversary celebrations will be perceived as a genuine event as opposed to a farce!

    Really? Doesn't that seem like a really bad idea? The last thing we need is another DAD-style "anniversary" film.

    A moment like that would take the viewer out of the film, I would rather not see a former Bond in a Bond film.

    The most I would like to see as a "salute" to Dr.No would be to give Ursula Andress a small role.

    A dancer in the background (so hardly visible) a la Dana Broccoli in Thunderball would be the best idea I think and could even disguise a former Bond if it was wanted.

    I would love to see a round table discussion from the previous actors who have played the part. I somehow doubt that would happen.

    I would love to see a definitive music CD set. Pull together some of the popular cues and songs. Or better yet have an orchestra tribute to the Bond music. Maybe have some singers tour with them.

    Blu Ray's would be great...with all new features! Am I asking for too much?

    If there wasn't already the Olympic Games in London, I would love to see a summer festival in the city or somewhere else in England, with a great exhibition organised by Pinewood Studios. It would be the greatest advertisment for the coming 007 Movie, and a great opportunity to gather the films, the actors, the fans, and all archive stuff of the James Bond saga throughout the years.

    That could always be done in October, the month of the anniversary and a month before the film's release @Ytterbium. I can see what you mean though, it is a bit annoying having the Olympic Games in London the very same year!

    Here is a suggestion for a year-long celebration in honour of the cinematic Bond.

    How about screening all the Bond movies (in high definition Blu-Ray format) from Dr. No to QoS in public cinemas around the world? Let's make it 2 movies per month (e.g. from Jan, 01 to 15 Dr. No will be showcased & from 16 to the end will be From Russia, With Love). February will witness Goldfinger & Thunderball, March - YOLT & OHMSS, and so on.

    Excluding the non-canonical & utterly deplorable Casino Royale (1967) & the much better NSNA (1983), we will be watching the 2 recent Bonds featuring Mr. Craig in November. Then in December 2012 will be a global celebration in welcoming Bond #23, the latest addition to the family. What a way to launch the latest Bond-buster.

    What'ya think buddies? Is there a better way to commemorate Bond's cinematic legacy? At least for the younger generations it affords them a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to watch all the pre-Craig Bonds on the silver screen. And for the elderly, it is sweet nostalgia all the way. Who would wanna miss it?

    If you think this idea is viable, start petitioning your local cinemas so that they can get ready to launch the operation on time in January 2012.

    Whatcha waitin' for, chums? Start crackin' in the name of EON Productions, Ian Fleming & James Bond.

    I never thought the idea of referencing the other Bond films in DAD was really that bad, certinally compared to the bigger sins that film is guilty of. Maybe the reason the idea is so disliked is that the references were so blatant and clumsily handled that they distracted from the plot. My only criticism of trying a more subtle approach to past referencing in Bond 23 is simply that it has been actually going on for many years in the Bond films in one shape or form and would not really make a suitable memorable 50th anniversary celebration.
    My idea would be to just make the title sequence of Bond 23 a homage to the previous films, that way we can all revel in a few minutes worth of nostalgia before settling down to concentrate on the film without distractions. A title sequence would be the appropriate medium to incorporate images, props, small sequences and even with a bit of subtlety the faces of all the previous Bonds, needless to say great care would have to be taken to create this in an artistic and modern take, rather than just showing clips and stills which would just look awfull...I'm guessing Babs and MGW still have Daniel Kleinman's number, he would be the guy to speak to.

    Well, definitely nothing in terms of the 23rd action romp like when we saw all those old gadgets in DAD. I didn't mind them doing this in DAD as the film is slapstick anyway but such a move wouldn't harmonise with the Craig era.

    A new box set of Bond DVD's in standard from and blue ray might be nice, then carnivals and parades in the streets and more Bond concerts. Also, memorabilia like action figures, model cars, that sort of thing. I would like to buy a model of the Aston used in Goldfinger.

    Ordinarily, I would agree with you but they rebooted Bond so it would just seem strange now. I think we should hear subtle traces of the old Barry/Bond music throughout the 23rd film. The gunbarrel should be back at the beginning too and they should use the same music from Dr No for this sequence. Exactly the same!

    Well in that case, the gunbarrel would cut right to the credits sequence, and the main theme would be the instrumental Bond theme... Not going to happen, I'm afraid.

    I don't think that they should do anything special for the 50th anniversary other than deliver the best possible Bond film. Anything other than that would be, IMO, unnecessary.

    Cracking idea, maybe with 'Albert R Broccolis Eon Productions Presents' superimposed across it as well? Just a good solid blast of the classic Bond theme by the John Barry Seven for 20 secs or so and then into the PTS.

    its better to get the gun barrel and the beginning of the new movies! and the music of James bond whenever there is an action scene...
    also to get back Q and Money Penny...
    a little bit humor in the movie wont kill! lately all i can see is sadness and sorrow in the new movies !
    i wish Brosnan is back, he certainly made a better James bond then Daniel Craig!

    Okay, not exactly the same (LOL). I was just talking about the actual gunbarrel sequence that should be the same as in Dr No except with Craig as Bond obviously and the same sound effects/music. Then, as the Wizard said, it should cut to the PTS sequence instead of going straight into the credits as in Dr No. Following this, obviously a decent, new song for the opening credits.

    Yeah, I know the Aston model has been around for years, I mean that it's just something I should get around to buying one of these days. They should implement an aggressive promotion scheme again though for all these Bond toys.

    For Craig's tenure, there shouldn't be any more humour than there was in Casino Royale.
