Who's planning on going to the UK premier Oct. 23rd or just hanging out nearby?

I have to start saving now. :o) To the people who have gone in the past, did you get premier tickets or just hang out and watch the actors go in to the theater? It would be nice to go to the premier but I think that's probably not realistic. I'll just be glad to see the movie in the UK. If there's a list of people going, please add me as I would like to stay informed. I will be participating more on this board so you can get to know me before the trip. I guess this board was revamped because my old login poofed. I was "Latoureiffel" before.

    Its easy decision - do you want to see the stars or the film? There is just one chance for the stars but many for the film. If you go for the tix, you can see them on the stage far away most likely - if you do the red Carpet, you MIGHT be able to see them face to face. But you can luck out, too and then just had a day of boredom AND excitement and hopefully you like being squeezed. I did the latter and it was well worth it. :)

I will also be going to Paris for a few days and will most likely watch the movie there, too.

    I would love to see the stars so it looks like the red carpet is what I'll be trying to get a glimpse of. I'm hoping we can get a group together to do this and then go see the movie and maybe do some London sight seeing since this will be my first trip there. I will also be going to Paris for a few days and will most likely watch the movie there, too.
    I am sure, many here have experiences of all kinds. I went with several others but did split, because they did the parc and I did the space after the stairs in front of the press where the entrance to the theater is. I was the only one getting to see DC up close, because he did the whole front, BUT didn't see any of the action going on in the parc - only over big screens. So what is better? Guess my place is pretty much the best, because ALL have to come through there, pose etc and most likely do the line, because it is not that long. In the parc, they switch sides and you might just see their backs.
    Be there 9 to 10 am and be prepared to get squeezed to the barriers from 1 pm on, WHEN you are first row -.but nothing else makes much sense IMO.

    It was well worth it on all accounts. Great next day of sightseeing, too. Harrods is all dressed up in Bond, film theme on the streets included. Its save to say, London belongs to Bond in those days...its amazing...

    Viva Las London, I love it, LOL! I will PM you my e-mail addy so we can keep intouch and I will check this thread and update it whenever there's any new information. I plan on flying Virgin Atlantic, of course. I currently live in Orlando, FL but I'll be moving to DC next year so I will probably be flying out of there. Are you located in London or nearby?

    Great information, thank you!! Being squeezed into the barriers doesn't sound like my cup of tea though. It would be nice to see the actors but not at the detriment of my safety and sanity. Just being in the same city, in the vicinity will be enough for me. I'll bring my telephoto lens, LOL! I mostly would like to hang out with fellow Bond fans, run around the city enjoying all of the Bond madness and if I catch of glimpse of the actors, that’ll be cool.

    I made the mistake of attending the premiere for QOS, not because I was especially keen to meet the actors which I knew I wouldn't anyway but I like to be around all things Bond. There was a band playing the Bond songs which I enjoyed listening to. I turned up late afternoon and it was just so damn crowded. Too crowded. I left just as Craig emerged. If you actually want to get up close to the stars and shake their hands you have to turn up around midday or even earlier and sit there the whole day until the premiere in the evening. Crazy. Even if I did want to shake the stars hands, I just couldn't wait around for that long.

    Still, anyone who is doing it, I wish you a good time.

    I've only ever been to one Bond premiere and that was TLD. I managed to meet Desmond Llewelyn and Andreas Wisniewski aswell as Fiona Fullerton from the previous 007 outing. I have an embarrassing story to admit that involves being pressed right up against Timothy Dalton then Maryam d'Abo by the world's press, but I think I'll keep it to myself!!

    Since then I've managed to attend early screenings of GoldenEye, Casino Royale and QoS. It's a shame that ITV don't produce the 1 hour specials of the Bond Premieres anymore. I seem to recall they started with TSWLM and ended with LTK.

    They have half an hour ones on ITV2 around the time of release but not the same. Still, it's something.

    What was the TLD premiere like? Did you see Princess Diana and Prince Charles?

    I would love to go but at this time next year I'll be in college. With luck I could be able to study abroad in England and then be able to go, but it isn't very likely. But to all that are dead set on going, have fun and take some pictures. Bond only gets one 50!

    P.S. Just had a thought. If members are planning to meet members how about you all wear some sort of dignifying decoration to tell each other apart. A really subtle thing that no one else would wear.

    I attended the Royal world charity premiere of FYEO at the Odeon Leicester Square way back in '81 - so I can honestly lay claim to having gone to the flicks with Charles and Di! (Admittedly they were sitting several rows in front of me.) It was a thrilling experience for a 19 year old (as I was back then) Bond fan. I seem to recall getting hold of a ticket through the JBBFC. I hired a tux and was able to mingle with the great and the good. Well, I met Topol at least. Oh and Sheena Easton's record producer, Christopher Neil - he was flattered that I knew who he was. I'm really glad I went. Just a pity the film was so bloody awful!
    The question is: Are tickets made available to mere peasants like us nowadays? Or are they strictly reserved for so-called "celebrities"?

    Nowdays for world charity premieres it's usually so called celebrities. If you actually get to attend a premiere it's good but standing around in the crowds waiting to catch a glimpse of a star or shake their hand is something I'm not in to.

    I'm definitely going to try and get to this...can't miss it!
    I went to the Goldeneye preview screening it was a fantastic event, then went to planet hollywood and had dinner alongside Eunice Gayson, Norman Wanstall and...Peter Franks. Will never forget that day. :-)

    I went to the Planet Hollywood there in Leicester Square after seeing GE but it wasn't the premiere.

    When I have met Bond celebrities it's been at an autograph signing and the Birmingham NEC movie memorabilia exhibition. Oh, and I chatted to Britt Ekland and her chiwawa on my street. LOL.

    She looks a little different now does Ms. Gayson. ;)

    I went along to mingle among the crowds at the Leicester Square premieres of both CR and QOS. The atmosphere at both was, shall we say, electric.

    I suspect I'll do the same if I can for SF... :)

    Wow, didn't know about this until you mentioned it. Thanks! Hopefully I will have already moved to Washington DC by then so I can attend. :)

    Yep message me if you remember! My friend gets the tickets- im not sure through where- but i'm sure i can find out. They were 100$ for QoS. None of the stars were there :\ but it was fun- they had the aston martin out front.

    I'd love to go as have never been to a Bond premier before. I contemplated going to the QoS premier but ended up having other commitments.

    I was however in the crowds for The Dark Knight and The Expendables. From my (limited) experiences you need to turn up as early as you can so allow allow a whole day off if you want to get a good view (particularly for something as popular as Bond).

    for the last two, I think it was 2 days before the general UK release.

    I've been at the front of the barriers for the past two Bond premieres. Its a terrific atmosphere, with fans (some even dressed in Bond costumes) all relaying their favourite moments of the series to eachother. Occasionally, members of the world press will come up and interview you about your favourite Bond actor and thoughts on the current film etc. Last year, Japanese television quizzed me on my Bond knowledge (I would have loved to have seen me being dubbed in Japanese!) There's a great buzz in the air despite the temperature of it! Waiting around is not for everyone but I've always found time goes quickly, especially when you're alongside fellow fans and giant screens showing Bond clips, trailers and interviews, along with music from a band.

    Leicester Square is currently undergoing major renovations ahead of being presentable for the 2012 Olympics. The new park design may alter the original premiere layout slightly, but we should know more in the summer when its completed.

    I didn't realise it was even possible to buy tickets for the real premier (the one that the stars go to). What kind of price are the tickets? Where do you usually get them? (Just from the usual cinema box office?)
