Movie Quiz hell
Went to a pub movie quiz last night. The guy seemed to have very weak knowledge of movies. Many of the questions had multiple correct answers: (classic mistake)
Music round: name the movie - he played the James Bond Theme!!, also played the Imperial March from the SW series.
For an anal movie fan like me, it was torture. Part of me feels like running a movie quiz to show how it should be done.

Unfortunately when I attend other people's quiz nights, particularly ones for charity where they've just got a random volunteer to put a quiz together, I invariably end up being frustrated by poorly-written and badly pitched questions that nobody actually enjoys. Quizmastering is one of those things that a lot of people think they can do, but very few can actually do it well.
No point. Just throw a kettle over the pub and be done with it.
Who is he ?. SW = starwars ?. John Barry and Moonraker is only thing i can think about.

Bond is a ball rolling around. Or a doll (Pinocchio). But a Kite sound more instresting.

I actually was asked to join a new pub quiz team called 'Simple Minds' last year and so far we have taken part in two charity pub quizzes here in NI. There are four of us in total in the team. We've done well so far, but sadly not won outright yet!
They were going to go for something rude but decided on 'Simple Minds' instead. I was relieved about that. It does make sense though - 'Belfast Child' for example:
It was to sound like the c-word when it was said by the Quiz Master. It had something like 'hunt' in it. I wasn't on for it, naturally! Big Fact Hunt, that was it, I think. If you say it aloud a few times you'll get the effect they were going for!
Questions of note from a popular culture perspective were "What was the name of Sherlock Holmes's landlady?" (Mrs Hudson) and "How many actors have portrayed James Bond in the films (excluding David Niven in Casino Royale)?" (Six, of course). We ended up coming second overall. I think we only lost out by two or three points, which was frustratingly close. Oh well. It was very good fun though and happily £925 was raised on the night for a charity for children's cancer, so it was for a very worthy cause. Win or lose that's what it's all about in the end analysis.
