    And if anything is crying out for a new cut/ deleted scenes it's Quantum of Solace! Plenty hit the editor's floor if I'm not mistaken?

    At least Skyfall had a director's commentary - surprised the Spectre one didn't.

    That's what I love about the Blu Ray boxset is that they had all those Inside Looks and extras taken from the archives and previous releases. The way the menus are set up it feels like you have so much to delve in to with each film.

    So you're right - the Craig era will have to wait to get a loving retrospective look - maybe they'll even talk him into doing a commentary track or 'inside look' style mini-documentaries after he's retired?

    I must say, I like the full slipcase from the Kimchi exclusive more. It's beautifully crafted with embossed/debossed parts and matted and shiny parts. I have no# 100 out of 3000 :-D!

    Those additional things are nice to have I guess but the Steelbooks in both are just the same and that is a crying shame.

    I really like the simplicity and almost 'Danish design' of the "SPECTRE" steelbook. Plain, simple. And while others find it 'boring' or 'uncreative', I actually love it.

    For instance, I love these ones. Also "SPECTRE"-esque simplicity:

    That's why I couldn't justify getting it, especially for something like SP: knowing I'm shelling out a good bit of money for a slightly different case isn't reassuring.

    Design-wise, I think those US steelbooks, which includes MR and LAND and DAD, pretty boring design-wise. They just took the design from ordinary cheap single editions and copy-pasted them on the steelbooks. Moreover, the photography on those steelbooks is so heavily photoshopped.

    Then again, it's my opinion hehe. Do you have them @Creasy47?

    Definitely not. Way too cheap-looking, especially for the price they're at now. If I'm going to double-dip for a steelbook, the design has to blow me away for whatever the price is.

    You are correct Sir, there are the Canadian Steelbooks, 6 of them.

    But their artwork is so hideous that I wouldn't want them for free.

    @BondJasonBond006, perhaps they were North America releases in general and not solely Canada, as I've seen these available for in-store purchase in the past. Either way, they may have been "worth it" at one point, especially when you consider that LALD has only one steelbook variant, but for the $30-40+ they go for now? Absolutely not.

    Search for 'BLURAY STEELBOOK' on Ebay, tick 'highest price on top', and you'll be stunned :-P.

    This steelbook craze has always interested me. As a man of the arts I can appreciate a nicely designed cover, but when it comes to film purchases, I'm paying solely for what's inside the package, as that's the magic and the reason I desire to have it.

    So, whether it's a $50 steelbook or a $5 bargain bin copy of a Bond film, the film itself is the same, and there's no reason whatsoever for me to get the former when the latter exists.

    I understand a collector's sensibility exists here, but a collector I am not.

    @Gustav_Graves, oh I know, some of the prices I've seen for limited edition movies/OOP Criterions is ridiculous. The Criterion Collection's edition of 'The Man Who Fell to Earth' starring David Bowie was OOP for a while and selling around $100-150, and once he passed away, prices skyrocketed up to $400-500+.

    I am particularly fond of these steelbooks, they all belong to the Sony PopArt Project collection that is ongoing.
    I own all 27 titles, I love Pop Art, always have. Furthermore the films they choose for this collection are all truly great and belong in any good film collection in my opinion.

    I photographed 15 of them, I'll post photos of the other 12 at a later time.
    Have a guess which artwork presents what film :)

    @BondJasonBond006, indeed they are! I own the 'Desperado' steelbook, one of my favorite action movies. I believe there was one of those pop art steelbooks for 'The Fifth Element,' and it looked great but the disc itself contained a pretty inferior copy of the movie, so I couldn't justify getting it.

    I got The Fifth Element as well and yes the the disc is only good to use as a beermat.
    Sadly the same goes for Evil Dead. Beautiful steelbook but the movie is butchered and about 10 minutes shorter than it should be.
    But oh well, at least they look good on the outside...

    What's odd is that shortly after these steelbooks were released, they unveiled the 4K version of 'The Fifth Element.' if only they had waited to add that disc into the steelbook instead of the inferior quality one.

    This beauty just came in the post! I'm starting a steelbook collection as I've fallen in love with them. Currently have Goldfinger, DAF, OHMSS, FYEO and I've ordered Thunderball. I'm hoping to eventually get the rest of the Bond steel books. I've also got The Birds on order and I've preordered the Groundhog Day steelbook that comes out at the end of the month. Got my eye on a Psycho steelbook too.

    Edit- I've just noticed that the rating logos are actually stickers and you can peel them off. Looks much better.

    I really advise you to use these protective sleeves:

    Be careful. Those people who accidentally bought the first edition of Ian Fleming's "Casino Royale" back in the 1950's, now realize how valuable they are after almost 70 years.

    Imagine what will happen to these steelbooks in 60 years from now.

    Re Goldfinger, yes so sad although I'm not too fussed as I managed to grab it for £10!
    Might have to get my hands on those sleeves!
