    Guessing you prefer Fleming-style Bonds and good old-fashioned espionage flicks? I can see Brosnan's efforts and Moore's entries outside of his typically lauded three don't stick well with you. On the other hand, Craig and Dalton size up very well.

    Any material closer to Fleming and taking Bond more seriously gain greater respect and enjoyment for me, yes.

    An American Bond.......god no!

    Yeah, he reminds me more of a grown up Wally Cleaver than Bond. However I do love the B-movie noir vibe in this TV production. Also being a big fan of Peter Lorre elevates it substantially for me, and I find it far more interesting and cooler than the films I placed below.

    Me, too really. Honestly I like it far more as a spoof of Bond and the '60's spy genre than the Austin Powers films. It's got a great cast with David Niven as Bond, along with Terence Cooper, Peter Sellers, a great Le Chiffre in Orson Welles, great sets, music and great Bond girls.
    Too bad as a film it's kind of hard to follow. I tend to enjoy it more just having it on in the background and tuning in to specific scenes.

    There are parts of CR '67 that are pretty enjoyable. The Mata Bond stuff is all thoroughly watchable for me. But there's a good deal of godawfulness too. And it might possibly be the most schizophrenic film of all time. You switch movies about six times before the credits roll. The babes go a long way to help, but not enough for me to watch it more than once in a blue moon.

    CR 67 is utter s***t. It's disappointing that a classic actor such as David Niven would star in such incoherent trash and irritating that one has to sit trough hours of the prat that is Peter Sellers hogging the screen.

    Unfortunately, after the introductory sequences, CASINO ROYALE 67 begins a downhill slide. It gets progressively sillier and more incoherent until it's impossible to keep any of the plot elements straight. Worse, with only occasional exceptions, the humor ceases to be funny, and the whole production degenerates into absurdity.

    Despite an impressive cast that includes such notables as Niven, Orson Welles, Jean-Paul Belmondo, and Jacqueline Bisset, CASINO ROYALE 67 is too ridiculous and muddled to be of more than passing interest to real Bond enthusiasts. The few good aspects of this farce (Niven & Welles) are vastly outweighed by the bad.

    We did get a good fantastic soundtrack out of it so not all bad.

    Oh yes for certain. It is one of the great Bond classics IMO, and definitely Roger Moore's finest hour as 007. It bugged me FYEO was also so low.

    One thing I am very glad about is the fact that OHMSS has become acknowledged as one of the best Bond films, even though it used to be a disliked black sheep. I myself once underrated it when I was really young and first started watching the films. Now it is part of my Top 3 of CR. OHMSS, and GF.

    When did OHMSS start receiving widespread respect? I don't recall it being especially considered as a classic in the 90's, but in 2002 Michael Parkinson remarked that some fans celebrated it as one of the finest Bonds.

    I like it. SF, FYEO, GE, and LALD I wish were higher, but otherwise I can get behind most of that ranking.

    Thanks chum. FYEO is a tricky one. Though I do love it, especially Sir Rog's performance, I honestly couldn't put it any higher.

    Every time Pepper comes on screen, LALD just tanks. Shame, because I actually find it to be one of the better, and certainly more unique, entrances in the canon.

    With CR they set the bar so high - a Bond film could be so much more than mere entertainment - that the succeeding three films have suffered. Not too mention that all of them have flaws in some way or other. Also minus points for SF/SP regressed the character of Bond back to the style of the previous entries, as opposed to the semi-realistic, visceral Bonds of CR and QoS, which felt fresh.

    I always like to keep them tied as their competitive releases in '83 is what had really gotten me into Bond when I was a kid.
