I think George Lazenby tells a few lies or inaccuracies in some of his interviews! The evidence:

    May 2017

But before you go, one last question: who do you think should be the next James Bond?

"I haven't seen a Bond movie since mine."

    http://www.smh.com.au/entertainment/movies/george-lazenby-on-becoming-bond-and-why-he-turned-down-a-fortune-to-play-007-again-20170512-gw3qcl.html

But in a previous interview he mentioned Craig's Bond films:

    August 2012

Lazenby, who played Ian Fleming's MI6 agent in 1969's On Her Majesty's Secret Service, shared his thoughts about Daniel Craig's Bond in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly.

"He's a fantastic actor, but [his movies] are more violent, aren't they? It's the way our society has gone," said the Australian actor.

"You can't have someone who's got feelings now. Bond has to be able to shoot someone now and kiss a girl three minutes later. When I did it, it had more heart. There's no heart to the new Bond."

How would he know there's no heart to Craig's Bond if he's never seen another Bond film? Hmm...

I think he likes to exaggerate!

Don't forget the famous video promoting the casting of a black actor as Bond, and good ol' Lazenby's actor choice in that very video was Clive Owen. ;)

Watching Becoming Bond right now. Hilarious. And what a nice surprise to see a friend of mine, Adomo, playing Peter Hunt! So happy for him. I believe his stage name is Adam but he was a buddy back in LA. Really great guy.

Sorry to spoil your morning for you, mate, but Dalton would fold both Craig and Lazenby to twenty good lappets and wear them for pocket squares.

Having said that, apologies to George and his fandom for doing the opposite of what the thread stands for. So, here's to George. A great one-timer.

This may say 'Appreciation' but we don't discourage healthy debate in any of the Actor threads, so please feel free to take opposite views.

In my mind Lazenby got a quick grasp of film acting, and did a pretty good job, all things considered. His acting in the casino scene as he watched Tracey making a fool of herself was every bit as good as any veteran would have achieved.

Has anyone seen this old Sony commercial from 1977 with George Lazenby as a thinly-veiled James Bond being introduced to Sony hi-tech gadgets in a clever 007 spoof? If not, go to 7:14 on the video to see how a clean-shaven Lazenby would've looked circa TSWLM era.

I've never seen that before. Still more subtle advertising than what we've seen in the last few films. ;) Going by his cameo in The Return Of The Man From U.N.C.L.E, George still could have been Bond even as late as 1983.

That's Naomi herself aka Caroline Munro from 8:43 to 9:14

Dalton's a better actor, but OHMSS blows away both of the Dalton films, good stories that I appreciate but lacked the all out action and sexuality that OHMSS delivers big-time. There's a youthful confidence to George's film that has that the Dalton films don't. Like them, but not in the same realm as Majesty's.

Interesting. Watched that without sound unfortunately, but looking at George from a purely physical aspect I'm not so sure he looked the part. He did in OHMSS, but in the commercial, slightly heavier and with longer hair, he is a little bit disappointing.

I'm sure he'd look better with a different haircut. That 70's hair style can make anyone look wrong for Bond. I would have liked to have seen him do another though.

Happy birthday Georgy boy. Probably the only actor whose fame revolves around only one film. Unless someone has another....

If you are talking Bond actors, yes. but there are other examples out there otherwise.

No, talking any actors. Can't think of famous actors who are famous for only one film. I mean GL made other films and got good notices in Saint Jack, but at the end of the day it's all about OHMSS.

You have Brandon Lee and The Crow for instance. It is probably not on the same level, though.

No but it's a good example. I never thought of actors who died young and left a one film legacy. James Dean had three films, which is close.
