    @NSGW, DAD won't suddenly be a great movie one day, so the best thing you can do is watch it in an attempt to block out the truly poor stuff, while subsequently highlighting and focusing on the bits and bobs that you really enjoy. I have a blast with it every time now by doing that.

    I have always thought that in the hands of a more skilled director, the opening 20 minutes or so could've been quite compelling stuff. I like the idea of Bond being captured at the end of the opening sequence for a change, as well as the effects on him after being held prisoner for a year, they just seem to forget it all too quickly. You're right though it can be enjoyed once you accept it for what it is and what it isn't.

    Funny, I find the first twenty minutes to be some of the strongest in the film, and typically have no qualms with the PTS at all. The "saved by the bell" line is a bit cheesy, but the rest of it is fine for me.

    I think the effects the torture and scorpion venom have on Bond seem to be forgotten "all too quickly" is because it's more than likely countered by all the drugs MI6 gives Bond upon his return.

    If you want to see a side-plot like that immediately disregarded, watch Bond go from incompetent to skilled marksman at the snap of a finger during Severine's death scene in SF, or broken down and tortured to expert marksman at the snap of a finger during the torture sequence in SP.
