Temporary Guardianship Document

Moneypenny brings a box of "personal effects recovered from Skyfall" to Bond's flat. He finds a "Temporary Guardianship" document.

If you pause and examine the doc, it is transfer of Guardianship of James (age 12) from someone (last name Bond) to Hannes Oberhauser. Why would this doc be found in Skyfall? James's parents were deceased. How did Oberhauser come to be James' guardian? What's the connection?

Bond was with his Aunt after his parents death. She died. Oberhauser was Bonds skiing instructor when he was younger. Basically best friends with his parents. No known family members so he took him in.
  • So, by examining the document, I see Charmain's signature as "Legal Guardian". I will assume she was ill or dying at the time this Order was issued and also that Max Bond, James' uncle, was also deceased.

I think it will be revealed that Bond's parents were both members of SPECTRE. This is a twist that's been a long time in the coming and the temporary guardianship documentation means there is still a lot to learn and figure out about Bond's past that we need to know before he can move on and be the Bond we watched in the first 20 films. Also and I may be wrong, but I think Hannes Oberhauser was an in between tempy parentyl setup between Bond's parents and Aunt Charmain for those two fateful summers in which he camped with Blofeld as a boy.

Thing is after the step brother thing all canon is out the window so anything is possible.
In P&W's world Hannes Oberhauser could have been shagging Monique on the side and turns out to actually be Bond's dad and he faked his own death and is actually running SPECTRE from behind the scenes.

I'd appreciate it if you could avoid lumping me in the same boat as @IGUANNA if you could old chap. Whilst I am obviously being facetious he probably genuinely thinks those are cracking ideas.

Actually, @IGUANNA is on to something that may make the whole Austin-powers-like brotherly rivalry crap more acceptable: it will explain Blofeld's issues; explain Bond's early training; and may also explain how/why MI6 found him and took him. Granted, none of it sounds very Fleming-like, but EON backed itself into a horrible corner with this Blofeld-Bond childhood relationship, and IGUANNA just provided a way out.

The day we start treating @IGUANNA's ideas as serious considerations for Bond scripts is the day I never watch another Bond film.

I'd sooner have Tamahori back, a return for Jinx and the same comedy FX company who did the DAD CGI. With Newman writing the score.

Unfortunately, the last film effed up the entire franchise with its hair-brained Blofeld-Bond connection. So I am not sure what EON can do to repair the damage. What he proposed makes a lot more sense than having an implausible "coincidence" explain that connection.

What you're suggesting is akin to the great idea the CIA had in the 80s 'Let's arm the Mujahadeen. They must be better than the hated Soviets. What could go wrong?' And here we are.

So Bond's parents were working for an organisation that was founded by a future teenage acquaintance of their son. Well, I say teenage, presumably he'd have to have set it up at primary school to be in the sort of position that affords an international recruitment drive. Jesus wept.

No Hannes founded it and Franz topped him and nicked the family business after his old man has already recruited the Bonds. Makes perfect sense.

And how about Andrew Bond slung one up a certain Mrs White at a particulary raucous SPECTRE briefing and Mr White is also Bond's half brother? And therefore Madeline's his half neice? This is dynamite stuff. Someone send it to EON.

It would be better for all if we could take the plot line from SP and drop it in the bottom of the crater left by blowing up Blofelds lair .

I think it would be quite a shock to reveal that Andrew Bond founded SPECTRE in the 60s. It would throw Bond's whole world upside down and make him question why he's even alive all over again.

And What about this.... bare with me.... dead M is revealed to be Madeleine's mother ?

There are so many possivilities moving forward it makes my brain whirl and scream with excitement. :)

The overriding sense of doom thanks to the foster brother plot twist in the world of Bond lead me to ask a few people I know who watch Bond films but don't qualify as massive fans what their opinion was.

Me: So Nicola (wife), did you enjoy Spectre?
Nic: I did yes, more than Skyfall. It was more like a proper Bond film.
Me: What did you make of the foster brother plot twist?
Nic: What? Oh for God's sake don't ask me to remember anything about the plot. They're all the same to me, apart from Skyfall.

Me: So Simon (my brother in law) Did you enjoy Spectre?
    Simon: Erm..it was ok.
Me: What did you make of the foster brother plot twist?
Simon: Eh? What?.......So, is Idris Elba the next Bond? Says so in my paper.

Me: So baby girl (my daughter) Did you enjoy Spectre
My baby girl: It was alright, but I didn't understand it if I'm honest
Me: So, the foster brother plot twist isn't on your radar?
My baby girl: Hold on..are we talking about that James Bond film you made me watch? I thought they could've had a prettier girl in the role. That's all I really remember.

Me: So Meg (son's girlfriend), did you enjoy Spectre.
    Meg: loved it.
Me: What did you make of the foster brother plot twist?
    Meg: I.....what's a foster brother?
  • @NicNac Yes that is nub of the problem. The vast majority who go and watch a Bond film are not concerned with details nor do they think about Bond the rest of the year. My cousin still thinks the Craig era must be a prequel because of meeting Blofeld for the first time even after I explained it's a reboot. Most are happy to pay for their ticket, have 2 and a 1/2 hours of fun and forget about it the day after. That's why you need people who care about respecting fleming in the important roles, including Bond actor. That's partly why I have a lot of respect for Dalton. P & W clearly do not care about the source material.

@thewizardofice exactly and he is still here.

What is the definition of a perfect troll? @Iguanna's troll status is well known but he is a long term member - he treads the line between provoking people's ire and getting warnings expertly. That is my point. It was a compliment.

I think sadly and unforutnaley in 20 years time Spectre will be remembered as the one that made Blofeld Bond's summer brother. For me however, it means a lot more than that and I will remember it forever. In the meantime there is nothing wrong with concocting fun ideas to one-ip what we see so far, some of them quietly brilliant some of them brilliantly quiet, and I defy anyone who takes umbreon with my ideas to present their own creative juices please. At least I am not a Brony....
