  Scott has done two films that I loved in the last decade - 'The Martian' and 'American Gangster.' 'A Good Year' was pretty enjoyable but nothing outstanding; everything else from him was awful in my eyes, or I've yet to see it. He hasn't made a true masterpiece since the 80's, in my opinion.

  It just didn't deliver, I remember thinking if he can pull off another ground breaking Sci Fi film that would inhabit the world of Alien but not keep referencing it then we might have had something special.
  
  The decsion of what type of film it would be was changed, initially it appeared to be an Alien prequel then they said it wasn't, I got excited by that.
  
  In the end the film wasn't brave enough to be a an origin film that didn't need to reference the previous series. The film should have been about the engineers and no blatant references to Alien.
  
  I loved the idea they were developing a biological weapon to wipe out the human race and that they had many attempts at this. Obviously the Xenomorph's were one of those and yes the other would bear relation to them but the film as it went on couldn't but help reference that series and quite blatantly.
  
  I got the impression this was the start of a new series and we would get to Alien which it appears is where Alien Evoloution is going but instead they couldn't wait and thought the audience would walk away disappointed if you didn't show something familiar.
  
  The irony is that is where most of the criticism came from. We wanted something new and fresh and were open to seeing something unique, instead we got a hotch potch of half baked ideas and lazy signposting.
  
  It couldn't credit us with the intelligence to deliver something new instead of recycling the old but then again that is Hollywood all over.

  Ridley Scott is one of the great visual directors of all time but he picks some awful projects and scripts to do.
  
  I just watched Dangerous Days the exhaustive doc on the Bladerunner BR, if only that guy was still making films instead of the person we've had for the last 2 decades putting out substandard product.
  
  Ridley Scott has made 2 outright masterpieces and they are Alien & Bladerunner anything else is just die hard fans delusions.

  Laughed so hard at that, I love Ricky Gervais...though I will say that I haven't watched the original 'The Office'; I'm sure it's great and I'd like to at some point, but all I can think of when I hear those words is the awful American version.

  I'd call "bullshit" on that, but they've only gotten bigger and better as time goes on, and Cruise IS the man when it comes to these stunts, so I totally believe it. Can't wait to see what they have in store honestly, it's one of the most exciting parts of the production. I still wonder if they have plans to re-use that glass bridge stunt they had planned for 'Rogue Nation.'

  So we're going to see Cruise in 'Jack Reacher 2' in October 2016, 'Mena' in January 2017, 'The Mummy' in 'June 2017, 'Mission Impossible 6' in November or December 2017 (similar to 'Ghost Protocol') and 'Luna Park' in early 2018. Not bad, not bad at all.
  
  I wonder if he can squeeze the filming of 'Edge of Tomorrow 2' somwhere in 2017 between all the promotion work of the 3 films he'll be releasing that year.

  Fresh off his Oscar for 'Bridge of Spies', Mark Rylance will make it 3/3 in the future Steven Spielberg films, as after 'Big Friendly Giant' this summer, he has joined 'The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara' (release in late 2017) and today confirmed he will also be in 'Ready Player One' (release in early 2018).
