The last good set of Bond movie posters were for Casino Royale. They even had a montage version for CR too.

Well, at least for this one there is an image in the background but still, disappointing. They also have the same or at least an incredibly similar font for every Craig Bond film. I miss the varied more unique font styles they used to use for each new film.

Do we start complaining about......fonts as well now? Really.....

It's not even true. I find the font type for "SPECTRE" truly wonderful. All previous three Bond films had century Gothic title fonts, so "SPECTRE" gives us a welcome change. And if you talk about the font type of the credits, those have been the same since 1997's "TND".

By the way, I think the font type of the title logo for the three films "AVTAK", "TLD" and "LTK" were all the same! Same with the fonts for "DAF", "TMTGG" and "TSWLM".

So this font style argument is a bit bullocks.

Spectre uses the Gothic font for its logo.

Yup, Gotham for the main title, Stainless Extended for the other text.

Still, it does have a more graphically exciting touch, with that 3D effect (like it's laser cut like a diamond). I find that truly original.

The Spectre of death looms behind Bond...

Everyone is keen to point out the Samedi resemblance, but without acknowledging that it's in honour of Dia de Los Muertos.

    It's not Samedi.

I realize that, having seen the trailer, but I see a fair bit of commentary on social media by people who think Bond is Samedi or that an illusion to Samedi is being made.

This is potentially the problem with evoking the past in these posters - i.e. it misleads. Having said that, if it gets the masses talking, even misguidedly, then I suppose it's all good. That's the whole purpose behind marketing material anyway.

We're such a nostalgia fueled society these days that people expect there to be homages left right and centre. You only have to spend a day on this forum to realise that people are obsessed with making connections that have no substance and are in no way conscious references.
  • what an awful poster, are they even trying anymore. any of us on here could easily do a better poster than that it is not something I would ever hang on my wall. it is like they have done it in Microsoft paint. abismul.

Agreed. The posters used to be one of the things I loved so much about the buildup to a new Bond - I'm an avid poster collector. Now they're one of the least interesting ones. The minimalist thing seems to have taken over - and while they're clean and simple images, they're not exactly memorable or something you'd put in a frame.

Probably why I haven't heard of a revised edition of the James Bond Movie Posters book! Nothing of note to add!

I told you before...there are many people out there who haven't even seen a white tuxedo. And probably there will be quite a few young new Bond fans who will say on premiere day: "Huhhh?? Why is that gunbarrel at the start now?? Weird...".

If done properly, 'retro' can truly work, and re-inspire fashion again. Just look at Galahad's double breasted suit in "Kingsman".

On top of that, what's nostalgia for many 'classic western' countries (Europe, Australia, USA, Canada, New Zealand), is probably "wowww-yy!" for many Chinese. And would you not let them enjoy some nice elements from old days?

One last remark...fashion constantly repeats itself. If humans were really that original, we would have gone to work in these outfits:

Perhaps the above will happen somewhere in 2115. But we still live in 2015.

What's so mysterious about a white tuxedo, @Gustuv? To suggest no one has seen one since GF is rather odd, especially when Jonah Hill & C Tatum are both seen wearing one recently in the very popular 21 Jump Street? Plus, Jason Statham was seen wearing one recently in Spy, alongside a host of celebs seen in pap shots. You make the white tuxedo sound as rare as a Sasquatch sighting in the mountains of North America.

I also find your comment about "new" Bond fans not knowing that the GB goes at the start of the PTS rather disingenuous. How do you know this sweeping generalization to be true, or are you insinuating that the vast majority of audiences are now uncultured, hence their awe at a white tuxedo? And how do you even quantify this hypothetical statistic and translate it to ticket sales, which I guess is what you're alluding to when you raise the subject of the ignorant masses? I'm all for people voicing their own views, but let's not resort to using imaginary people to shore up our own comments. And how do you know whether the Chinese won't get a different poster, or that an even better designed poster could pull in an even bigger audience in China? Neither of us know the answer, and I wouldn't be so presumptuous as to make a guess.

It's ok to like the poster. It's also ok to dislike it.

Those are much, much better than the previous one. The banners in particular have great vibrancy to them. Nice one.

I've never seen Craig look more Bondian than in that last poster. I'm now willing to get passionate about him staying in the role for a while longer. It would be a shame to lose him. Loving the one with the mask too.

Now these are quite creative and Bondian at the same time.

    Very nice indeed.

So...like Skyfall, there are two main release/theatrical posters after all. Like there were two versions of the March teaser poster too (the colour and the black and white one).

Since it's not specified if they're domestic, or international and whatnot, wonder how Sony will split them up. For the teaser poster, in the US they used the black/white one for the poster displays and the full colour one for the big banners.

TL;DR - this is one hell of a disorganised poster campaign :P

I would much rather they abandoned the previous poster and used the ones just posted and the SPECTRE gunshot design.

Slick and stylish. The other posters are fan art standard by comparison.
  • when will a poster come out for purchase or free in a newspaper I wonder. ???

Are these new more attractive posters official or fan created too ?

If those banners and posters are fan created and not official, I need to compliment the creator and say well done. But ill just wait and find out here first if they are official ?

I very much like these new posters - Craig seems more relaxed and confident than in the last one-sheet, Lea looks like a proper femme fatale (I've been avoiding spoilers - and trailers! - so I like the ambiguity. Dunno if that looks she's giving is a dangerous one or not!) and I appreciate the vibrant background this time.

It's still a cut-and-paste job but it's FAR more visually interesting!
  • They are official

Nice! They are so much better than the previous ones. Far more attractice and exciting. I'm really getting excited for spectre. Looks like its going to be Craig's best.

CR is still the benchmark for me. SP looks to be potentially better but we'll see.
