That was fun, I like the entusiasm. You should do another in the cinema, come November. Good luck. :)>-

Thanks for that, on some of my other videos people say I'm enthusiastic I don't know why it always takes me by surprise. thanks for the comment and it could be fun to do that idea you said too.

    Cheers.

It looks like Mr White has been living hidden in this place for a long time without seeing daylight. That would explain his eyes.

Not so sure about CW being Blofeld anymore. Could well be another actor to cameo at the end setting up B25.

He is Danish. Maybe the only booze he could get hold of in that place was metanol.

This trailer got me thinking. What is SPECTRE copying that is popular at the moment? Another Nolan rip-off. I don't think so. Nolan started the superhero craze but those films ended in 2012. Then it hit me. Have you noticed that every film franchise has been creating their own cinematic universes lately? It started with Marvel and now everyone is at it. Star wars, X-MEN, Transformers etc.
Perhaps SPECTRE is the bond riff on cinematic universes. I don't mean we'll see stand-alone film's without Bond in them ( e.g. Moneypenny: the movie), but it does seem like they are trying to pull the most iconic elements of the bond franchise into one film. MI:6 VS SPECTRE, FIGHT! :P

Is it me or is Waltz also at the Funeral scene, with his back to Bond?

I have heard/read it before, but I don't know if it has been confirmed in any way.

It sure does look like his figure at :46 standing in front of Bond.

On set and on film are two different things. I did see pics of him in Rome (I think so anyway), but does that mean he is at the funeral? He seems to make his acquaintance with Bond in the meeting, in any case.

Oh, and glad I am not the only one thinking said meeting looks and feels like Eyes Wide Shut.

Exactly, this has nothing to do with Bond or his past as written. I suggest some pick up a Fleming book?

... absurd and totally un-Fleming. I hope this doesn't play out like some here have suggested. Though @timmer, whose judgement I greatly respect, seems to think it's a great script and could be up there with the "original classics" so I won't judge it yet myself. As for the teaser: I'm not too impressed. As a plus, at least Craig looks good.

Because so many of the Bond films up to this point were faithful to Fleming's vision? Even the ones that were supposedly based on his novels?

I'll have you know that Fleming left a detailed outline of the Moonraker script in one of his journals. Right down to the double-take pigeon. :P

I'm not sure why it didn't grab me like it has everyone else. Am I missing something, or seeing a different trailer to everyone else?

I quite like the shots - Very Nolanesque, and like seeing some new Bond scenes, but the whole Bond on another personal mission, and linking SPECTRE to Bond's past has nothing to do with Fleming. Why can't they go back and use some untapped Fleming material, inside of rewriting Bond history.

Feeling a bit underwhelmed to be honest. I thought unearthing Bond's past was enough for SF, but I don't really want to see more of this again. I was hoping for a straightforward Bond film for once - action packed PTS, Bond gets briefed by M to go after SPECTRE, and Bond is on a mission for Queen and country, not another revenge, personal motive angle....again!

I hope I feel different after watching it a few more times, and I hope the next trailer gets me more excited on first viewing.

I think the people who are disappointed are equally assuming too much, thus enlarging their disappointment.

Yes, there's a connection between the Bond-family and the Oberhauser-family. But saying that Franz Oberhauser and James Bond are now immediately "foster brothers" goes a bit too far for me. I like to believe that their connection goes entirely via their dads: Andrew Bond and Hannes Oberhauser. And that Bond actually uses or fully exploit that connection for the sake of the mission. Not for the sake of personal revenge.

One other thing. To say that this is completely non-Fleming goes too far for me. I kindly advise you to read Fleming's novels in this chronological order:
--> "Thunderball" (set around 1959, 1st entry in the SPECTRE-trilogy)
--> "Octopussy" (set around 1960, background history on the Oberhauser-family)
--> "The Spy Who Loved Me" (set around 1960, SPECTRE-side story, henchman "Horror"? Hinx?)
--> "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" (set around 1961, 2nd entry in the SPECTRE-trilogy)
--> "You Only Live Twice" (set around 1962, 3rd entry in the SPECTRE-trilogy, background history on Bond's family)

And it's thát sense of continuity and chronological order that's actually very Fleming-esque. Don't forget that in the 1960's there was no real luxury for EON Productions to focus on continuity, as there were a lot of financial risks involved in producing the 1st Bond film. One hád to adapt the easiest Bond novel first.

With the initiation of the new Bond timeline (2006, "Casino Royale"), the Bond producers finally go full-circle with this. They can finally focus on continuity, the way Ian Fleming actually did.

I firmly believe that in "SPECTRE", Bond is indeed going on a mission, and doesn't get that emotionally involved anymore with this background history. At least not in the way that was done in "Quantum Of Solace", because in that film Bond completely lost sight of his mission, and was using revenge as a means of justifying his mission. Not very well-thought of agent 007.

I also think you expected too much after seeing the "Mission Impossible" trailer. Don't forget that that film has a rather bumpy publicity road. Paramount/Skydance hád to go full-throttle with their trailer, by adding lots of action in it. But sjee, we never had a trailer for a Bond film at such an early stage. THIS is what I call teasing, and therefore I expect a more action-rich trailer around May or June.

It's not entirely right to assume so much about the film if you only have 1min37sec of movie material. And off course we're comparing a lot with previous Bond films. But isn't part of the franchise success that they keep re-inventing it? That they are using familiar material in a different way? You can go the easy-way and make a Bond film by all of your wishlist numbers, but I find that from a creative perspective rather boring really.

Looking at this trailer makes me also think that EON Productions is craving to compete with "Avengers 2" and "Furious 7". Two movies I find the biggest competitors of "SPECTRE" this year.

I am very happy about the use of the short story Octopussy to build the plot on. And if people are worried about the connection between Bond and Oberhauser, let's not forget that Blofeld used aliases in the past. For all we know, Franz may have been dead for some time already. And let's not forget that since Blofeld is Bond's nemesis, there will be a dimension in their antagonism that will be personal. How they will play it is the question.

The only part of the trailer which I find quite disappointing is Naomi Harris. She is not of the same caliber as the other actors in that teaser and that's quite apparent to me.

The trailer reminds me of the early part of the SF teaser, prior to the thumping music bit (which I loved). In that early part there was dialogue and similar music (including the conversation during the psyche eval) - then it goes into the techno blast music.

That last bit isn't here but what is here has a more foreboding element and suits the SPECTRE concept better. Can't wait to see some action clips from this. It's going to be great.

There's a 1GB ProRes version on the press kit. IMO just hold out until Apple Trailers posts it and when theatres get it which is when I'll be able to pull the mega high quality footage and 5.1 track off it and make a proper Blu-ray quality version out of it.

If they send it to theatres in 4K I may be able to knock a 4K downloadable version together too.

Aaron, I assume that's from YouTube and for downloading/keeping purposes quality of their HD isn't that great tbh...like I.said above ,wait for Apple iTunes to post or for me or whoever to do a proper download version from the file sent to cinemas.

At least I have Lea & Monica to look forward to - Naomi doesn't quite do it for me - just find her a bit annoying.

I'll throw in my opinion, and I don't find her that attractive (but she surely is better than Monica Bellucci).

I'm so glad I'll watch the movie dubbed in italian so that the actors performances won't be a problem, since italian voice actors are amazing.

I don't think they would be that heavy handed with the connection between bond and this oberhauser figure so early on in the film if the huge reveal is exactly what we are lead to expect. It wouldn't be shocking at all if they spend the entire film implying it.

This only further strengthens the red herring\alias angle that many have suggested, and supports the idea that perhaps this will lead into B25, YOLT STYLE CLIMAX!!!

    B-)

I love the teaser but it tricks you... has a QS feel/connection with lake and White's dialogue. But the trick is right after that ...the music to what you expect is an action montage but goes into that ultra moody creepy Eyes Wide Shut scene.

Btw Kubrick was one or is one of my favorites ..wish he was still here. I remember that as per Sir Ken Adam Kubrick consulted informally on the photography/ lighting on the tanker battle in TSWLM.

Having read what everyone is saying here subsequently to the trailer, I must admit I would feel disappointed if Waltz wasn't Blofelt. Especially as I feel that its just perfect now
