    You asked. Painface.
Some truly wonderful grimacing. Really, really trying hard to...what's that word? Ummm...act.
Some people think you can slip on a tux and act. ;-)

that's not so bad. I slipped on a tux the other day. hit my head. Brosnan never did that.

Poor old Pierce. I am beginning to feel sorry for him. He really needed a RADA refresher course didnt he? Spent too much time on a Malibu beach and stagnated abit.

    Oh well.

    Good traps?

Favourite is the keelhauling in FYEO. Watching this on the big screen in 1981 was exhilarating as there was no way out. No gadgets, just a nasty death being torn to pieces by sharks (although I was perplexed at what sharks were doing off Greece).

The "we're not dead yet" is rather tender and emphasises the predicament. There is a shot where Melina and he dive as the boat goes over the top of them and you are wishing for it not to catch their feet and best of all is the paravane rope snapping and it flying over the Triana and hits a member of the crew who is booted into the water. And how they got the shot of the shark biting his goolies I dont know.

Also the elevator/trapdoor on Atlantis. A nice stylish idea which Rog avoids by splaying his legs. Confounds the audience.

Ah yes. I love that scene, particularly the few seconds of music just after Moore quips: "You did want me to drop in."

The unnecessary slow dipping mechanism and ill-tempered sea basses.
    Oops, sorry. Wrong movie series.

Oh, and this be compilation of the pain face.

I would of said the elevator on Strombergs sea home, that was quite neat

not sure about the torture seat in TWINE

got to include the bridge over the piranha pool in You Only Live Twice

probably other bits that wouldn't fit into this category such as the stairway on the aircraft blimp on Zorins skyship, and the G force simulator in Moonraker, even that little room they had with the shuttle take off above it when Moore and Chiles nearly get roasted by a take off, of course Bond has a special watch with an explosives charge attached to it so they make an escape

I love Moore's face when he quips 'Bang on time !'.

I only watched it today and didn't notice any Moore face features, even when he kills Drax at the end with the wrist dart (what the hell was he doing wearing that in outer space anyway, sure it wasn't present during the python scene when Moore goes in the water), he seems very placid and just goes on like he's at an art gallery, not in the middle of a do or die battle with Armageddon on the line. Of course Bond just happens to have the right gadgets at the right time to escape any nastities, as always

@Baltimore_007: Of course, he's Bond! He will always escape, no matter what!

How about Blofeld's idiotic attempt to kill Bond in PTS. All Bond had to do to escape was disconnect Blofeld's remote control over the thing, and It was all there in front of Bond!!!

This has. turned from a discussion about death traps and turned into a thread about PB's acting....

Yes, you are correct. Here, I'll get things back on topic:
One of my favorites has to be in GE when Bond and Natalya are tied up inside the helicopter as the countdown commences until the missiles fire back at them. What a great trap! Good way to get rid of the evidence and kill the opposition.

and there just happens to be an ejector seat handy that Brosnan is easily able to activate in enough time

sometimes you think that the Bond series can never end as 007 simply cannot die

not that I want him to, but even so

I was about to say that, @Baltimore_007 ! The ejector seat button was just too handy.

all I did was suggest we get back on topic. now which was more convenient for Bond, the ejector seat in GF or GE?

    Goldeneye I would imagine :O

funny how when in Monaco when they steal the helicopter, Jansenn shoots two military personnel dead with loud effects on a boat filled with people and security and no one even notices

one of the very best things about Bond is how absurdities come to the fore time and again, intentional or otherwise

Yeah, sometimes they can be a bother, and that one particularly raises some questions! One that always gets me is when Bond punches Hans against the fireplace wall, and Hans just simply stands there as Bond steals the key from his back pocket. It's as if he wants Bond to get the key!

Villians always think that since Bond had an extraordinary life he deserves an extraordinary death. Their big mistake is not in sticking around (for the most part) and watching Bond die.
Best: The crocodile farm in LALD
Worst: Helga's plane. I agree with the earlier post. this was a stupid and expensive way to kill someone. Should have shot him when she had him tied up. Anyway this screw up cost her her life.

Seeing as my last thread was shot down before it even took off ill go ahead and post it here..As i been watching my yearly Bondathon I've noticed that our hero gets captured or tortured in some form or other in each film. I've decided to list all capture scenes to give examples..
DR NO:Bond and honey held captive on Dr no's base
FRWL:Grant holding Bond and Tatiana captive
    Goldfinger:The classic laser table scene
Thunderball: Held captive by fiona volpe
    YOLT:The volcano scene
OHMSS: Being found out by bunt and locked up in the cable cart room
DAF:Held captive on Blofelds oil rigg
LALD: Quite a few times the crocodile farm etc
MWTGG: Taking captive by Hai fat and the dojo scene
TSWLM:Held captive for a brief moment on the Liparus
    Moonraker:Captured in the amazon
FYEO:Bond and Melina held captive by Kristatos.
Octopussy: captured by Gobinda and held captive in Khans palace
AVTAK:Quite a few times once posing under a different alias and then along with Stacey sutton in san francisco city hall
    TLD:Held captive in Afghanistan
LTK:Found out by Sanchez and held captive in the drug refinery
    Goldeneye:Inside the Satellite Dish
TND:on carvers stealth ship and in CMGN tower
    TWINE:In Istanbul by Elektra king
    DAD:Tortured In north korea
    Casino royale:The carpet beater scene
    Qos:Put in custody by mi6
    Skyfall:Silvas island

In my opinion it seems to be one of the series many Recurring themes..Id like to discuss many things on this topic like for example is it necessary to the films to have 007 captured in each one?

He HAS to be captured to show he's not perfect, and to show he can regain the upper hand after a setback. It's required by law.

    I totally agree with @chrisisall.

BTW, my top 5 of "Bond captured" would be :

    5) Goldfinger
    4) FRWL
    3) DAD
    2) Dr. No
    1) LALD (crocodiles farm)

Very good response...sometimes though i Believe it could be just a point to find out the films main antagonist's motives.I do wonder how a bond film would go if he was to remain uncaptured.

@karl007, Bond wasn't necessarily captured by the villain in QoS, and we found out his motives in a different way.
