What am I doing wrong? Am I a bad parent??

My 13 year old Son is not a Bond fan. :O
How could this be?
He recently (two months ago) asked to see DN for a second time- this gave some me hope...
But then he said he wants to see no more Bond movies.
I feel like a failure.
At his age I was practically devouring Bond movies.
How can I fix this?

    Why not introduce him to one such as TND, QoS, or DAD (terrible suggestion, I know) that is heavily action-oriented? Maybe he will enjoy more of the film and want to get into the others once he learns the world of 007. Introduce him, actor by actor.

    LOL and here I was expecting to see some drama filled sob story! ;)

    Dr. No may not be the best one to start with; there's no nice way to say it: Dr. No is slow.
    Has he seen any others yet? Maybe for kids this day in age Casino Royale would be the better one to start him off with-- since Craig's movies are the 'current' ones and more people his age are into them. Might be a fun experiment at the same time; seeing the newer movies first and working your way back!
    I bet if he sees the newer movies that his younger peers are more likely to be into and enjoys them, he'd be more inclined to want to go back and see the rest.

    After all-- my first Bond movie was GoldenEye, back when that was the newer one.

    I had a hard time to convince my own son of Bond's merit. I made the mistake of showing him some Roger Moore outings, which he really didn't like.
    Since then, he saw Skyfall, which he really enjoyed mainly because Craig's Bond was human. He bled, he failed in saving M's life. He was believable.
    I showed him The Living Daylights, and showed interest to see License to Kill.

    Keep trying, you never know!

    Beat him! Rejecting Bond should not be tolerated in any household. Time to whip out the belt.

    I can't think of a worse movie to introduce Bond to the uninitiated than Dr. No. So, no, you are not a bad parent. You're just a bad Bond promoter. :-)

    Especially for the young ones, you have to give them the quick-cutting action-packed films they're used to seeing. At least at first. After that you can start to introduce them to the older, more subtle Bonds.

    Maybe start him off with the action filled ones to see if he reacts to that.

    Don't start him off with LTK, CR, QoS or Skyfall as they are a little too deep for those that don't know the films and character or who aren't prepared for the content ahead.

    If he doesn't like the action then try the more serious films as I listed above, or the classics like FRWL, GF, TB, OHMSS, and some Moore, just to gauge what he reacts best to.

    No need to feel like a failure, though. It may seem horrible, but the important thing is that your son finds something to be just as passionate about as you are with Bond. That's when you know you have done right by him, to teach him a sense of adoration and appreciation that he can have for something, no matter what it may be.

    He already told me that Craig looks like a 'bad guy' and he will not watch one of his films.

    I think that might be a better venue... Dalton's Bond is my favourite, perhaps the apple might have fallen nearer the tree...

    He watched a bit of TMWTGG while I had it on; he said it was just 'bizarre'. That one won't work. :))

    I just showed him this thread, and he told me he's not a fan of fast paced action shoot-em-ups.
    The Living Daylights is the way to go I think. :-?

    watching Bond Movies

    Tommorow Never Dies is the best introductionary movie..

    GoldenEye is the movie that got me into Bond at age seventeen. Tomorrow Never Dies nearly got me OUT of it...:) My twenty year old stepson hates Bond, but he's very much his mother's child. Since I got her to like the Craig outings, I hope to tempt him over with Skyfall when he comes home for the summer this year.

    Yeah you can't always start with the classics. Look at Dr. Who. My wife and son HATED it till they saw Eccleston's/Tenant's episodes respectively. You gotta show them what will appeal to them and hope they develop a love that will cause them to go back and appreciate what came before.

    I showed him the first Tennant episode, and he's been a solid fan of most of the series since!!

    I don't like TND because it misses all it's own opportunities for greatness.

    I like Pryce as Carver, I love Michelle Yeoh, but I feel like more attention was paid to the wrong characters. Teri Hatcher over Yeoh, that boring blonde guy over the superior Dr. Kaufman...it just went in all the wrong directions for me.

    Didn't somebody's head pop through the bottom of an F-18? Yeah...I haven't seen it since the theater.

    Compared to the awesomeness of GoldenEye...it left me flat.

    You really need to put in CR to sway him from hating Dan. Tell him not to judge before he sees him as Bond, and maybe he will watch. The film has so much to offer that is crucial to Bond, like a great theme, music, PTS, Bond girl, villains, locations and more.

    Between LTK, CR, QoS and Skyfall, he's missing some of the best Bond has to offer. There's no hope for him at this point if he doesn't go for Brosnan or more Connery. I'm guessing he likes action over plot too, yes?

    Show him the Dalton flicks or Goldeneye. Not as slow as DN but not tons of action like TND either. Also the best 3 of the series for my money.

    I think TLD would be an excellent choice. Good story, characters, great action, a nice balance. TLD and Goldeneye.
