Fantastic & epic score , locations , Arnold and Sandahl did a fine job but JEJ steals the show as Thulsa Doom.......one of Arnies best imo so I strongly disagree ;)
Mèh. ;-) It's not a bad film but IMO it doesn't hold up to the first three. I reckon they shouldn't, perhaps, have made this film. :) But it's here all right and I can - to some degree - enjoy it.

Not as bad as critics make out, my very low expectations meant I actually enjoyed the films. Of course they could be better, but after hearing about a new reboot of the series, it will be interesting to see the direction it takes as both films got certain things spot on.
One of Scheider's more underrated films/performances, despite the sleazy tone. Glover is perfect as one of those villains who are so cocky (calling everyone names like slim and sport), that you can't wait for Scheider's character to bring him down a peg or two, or in the case of the film...

I've left out The French Connection on purpose, as fantastic as that film is, it belongs to Hackman. And I need to re-watch The Marathon Man, as the last time I watched it, was before I got into Scheider's work.
I really enjoyed this one. Though I have gripes with some of the pacing this was a really interesting film set in just a two hour span of time. I don't want to say much about it because it is best to go into it alone and let it surprise you, because you never really know how it'll end up to the final moments. I will definitely have to look into Gary Cooper's filmography soon, as he did impress as a real man's man hero for the ages. Not the best western, but a darn good one. Highly recommended.

Scheider was a very good actor so i might have to find this film.
Great film. Sly stealing the show from his more illustrious co-stars. Loved it years ago, love it even more now.
Dismal and disappointing sequel to the vastly superior Richard Johnson/Bulldog Drummond adventure Deadlier Than The Male. Usually when a fun film has a slipshod sequel, it has a different behind-the-scenes crew but SGD had the same director/producer/writer combo(minus 1. Jimmy Sangster wasn't around this time. Perhaps he's the unsung hero of the 1960s Bulldog Drummond series?) as DTTM. Whereas DTTM came close to succeeding at imitation Bond and in fact being as good as some mid-range official EON series entries, SGD barely makes it to the level of imitation Flint/Helm/UNCLE territory. The slick and classy production values of the first Richard Johnson/Bulldog Drummond film are conspicuously absent. And why on earth did they dub Daliah Lavi's(the Detainer from 1967's Casino Royale) exquistely sexy and exotic voice? I also wonder how it got a G rating. It should've been a PG(or M as it would've been at the time). It's not hard to figure out why there's not been a single Bulldog Drummond film made since this one. A few good lines(like this exchange between Petersen and Drummond-
"History repeats itself. Napoleon dreamt of the entire universe thronging to his door. Now I shall fulfill his dreams."
"Dressed as the Duke of Wellington?"
"Well of course my dear fellow. Never back a loser.") and seeing the inspiration for Austin Power's fembots are among the saving graces. Bond vets James Villiers(Tanner in FYEO), Virginia North(Olympe from OHMSS) and Joanna Lumley(English girl from OHMSS) also appear.
I'm giving it ** out of ***** and that's being generous. For those who haven't seen a Richard Johnson/Drummond adventure, stick with Deadlier Than The Male instead. Some Girls Do makes the average entry in Dean Martin's Matt Helm series look like From Russia With Love by comparison. @-)
On it's own, I thought SGD was ok. What did you think of title song by Lee Vanderbilt. Like DTTM, I thought it was catchy.

The title song wasn't bad. The lyrics were from Bond vet Don Black. And like the trailer, better than the film itself. Did you see SGD 1st or DTTM 1st Major? Also, who was your favorite Drummond girl in SGD? Mine was Daliah Lavi even though her talents were put to better use in the 1967 CR spoof and in the 1966 Dean Martin Matt Helm film "The Silencers"-
I had to watch this for a film music analysis project. Overrated, nothing special.
Think of Taken, but Van Damme style and 6 Bullets is what you get, execpt that it isn't Van Damme's daughter that is snatched. Using the same director as Assassination Games, this isn't quite as good despite some good moments. In short, average Van Damme.
Love that film and the film it's based off of (Rear Window).
ALL 3 HOURS AND 22 MINUTES. NO MEDAL TO SHOW FOR IT. After this film, every other that follows it will be nothing to watch. All jokes aside, while I am by no means a religious man, I have to respect the depth that this film went to, from a revenge plot to a theme of healing, which you never think about until the end. The scope and length of the film is startling, and the ambition of this pictures is probably why it has such lasting appeal. You might not find this in a best film ever list for me, but it deserves respect for making a non believer go along with the story's religious undertones. The film as a whole has important messages, but I give a warning: it is a long film that requires full attention. This film will be one that requires a few more viewings to gain the full scope it offers.
