Bond 50 Gun Barrel

I just was seeking fan feedback that since its EON 50th year anniversary, would it be a fitting tribute to showcase Bob Simmons gun barrel walk through at the beginning of Skyfall. Note this in no way would undermine Mr.Craig (and I do recall that Sean Connery did not film this for Dr.No.) but it would simply pay tribute to the classic spy genre that we've all come to idolize throughout these decades.
Daniel Craig sequence can possibly placed at the end citing 'James Bond Will Return'...
I've seen what a stirling cleanup Lowry Images have done of the original gun barrel sequence & it may be rather appropriate.
What do the members and fans say?

    I want Daniel Craig to do it with a Golden Gun Barrel perhaps? ;)

    No, not Bob Simmons, he swings his gun like a discus, completely unnatural. I would prefer Craig, but with a slower stride - by now he should be a settled agent and not the rookie from CR, with confidence in a slower walk. By the way, I strongly dislike cheesy and too blatantly obvious tributes to previous films (DAD).
    A golden barrel would be a nice little touch, though.

    I appreciate where you're coming from @Rambiritch, but I agree with the others. Having Bob Simmons would not be the right decision. It would draw too much attention right off the bat for the wrong reason. It should be Craig. And a much better version than the one from QoS.

    I agree. All I want is a proper Craig gunbarrel. No CGI bullet. Just Craig, walking turning and shooting, with hopefully the Casino Royale gunbarrel design. No gimmicks, even though it's the 50th. This is Craigs movie. His third Bond film, and he deserves a proper gunbarrel.

    It's a Craig Bond film so only he should be doing the gig. Leave the Simmons walk on where it belongs in the past. And like others have stated, lets have it back where it belongs at the start of the film.

    I think it's not needed a great Gold gunbarrel. Just some golden tons.

    I'm all for the gold gunbarrel. There's no question Craig should uh, 'execute' it, but what if his walk ended with a kneel like Lazenby? Or he does a little roll into a kneel and shoots as bullets hit the wall above him?

    I think the best way to honour the history of the franchise and Binder's huge contribution to it is to have a gunbarrel as close to the original as possible.

    Would agree with all the above.

    I would say the classic Bond theme from DN would be the most appropriate but if not then the TLD music would be very nice and give it a classic feel.

    I would suggest the Kleinmann updated barrel used in the Brozza films but when it shimmers as he starts to walk have that shine in gold.

    I'm tempted to say have 'Albert R Broccolis Eon Productions Presents' briefly flash across it as a nod to DN but to be honest I think it spoils the effect of the GB overall.

    Craig wearing a hat would be awesome as well.

    Is it DAD that the bullet from Bond's gun actually goes down the barrel of the gun aimed at him? That's pretty f@kin' impressive shooting! Robin Hood eat your heart out!

    Yes, a lot of people criticize the CGI bullet, but I love it. I'm not saying I want to see it done again in future, as I think it works fine for that one film. Personally, I've always wanted to see the gunbarrel drop to the floor with a thud after Bond shoots.

    The CGI bullet was just pointless. But you can't have a go at it for making no sense, because none of the gunbarrels do. Let's look what happens.

    Ok, Bond shot him. Now there's blood falling down in front of it, which makes sense I suppose, but wait, why is the gunbarrel still standing there?

    See, none of the gunbarrels make sense.

    And they should have a normal one for SF. Just put it at the start where it belongs, and do the gunbarrel. Please, no more little twists like the bullet, or putting it before the title sequence or at the end. Just do it normally.

    Yeah, even as a kid the blood coming down the inside of the gun barrel jarred, (it doesn't make sense that blood could find its way into the barrel) but it is just so iconic…plus a lot of my mates didn't know it was looking down a gun barrel! I knew what it was straight off as I (and my father and older brothers) had a air rifle and was used to looking down the barrel to make sure there was nothing stuck in it before use.
    Still don't like that bullet though! And in some of the Roger Moore teaser trailers he walks up to the barrel, gun must have been the size of an air hanger!

    Actually, if you think better, the Blood can not be exactly from the barrel. It can be a customized sniper scope, and the guy who's seeing it takes the shot and theorically, his eye starts to blood, as the Gun also starts to shake side to side.

    You all are intellectualizing this WAY too much. :)) It's just a stylistic sequence. It always was. No use in rationalizing it too much.

    After the red wash comes down you notice how the gunbarrel wavers and starts to drop down. I always thought that was the would be assassin lowering the gun prior to dying after being shot by Bond.

    Anyway we seem to be getting off topic here. I would just like a traditional gun barrel sequence at the beginning with a slow, steady walk, turn and shoot by DC. Am so looking forward to this film.

    So there we go. DC will do it, keeping it simple at the beginning of the movie, with classic 007 theme in tow.Can't wait. Only bummer that it releases in South Africa end November 2012 (thanks SONY Pictures!!!); one of the last places on earth to premiere, barring the Dominican Republic methinks!

    I am actually in with your proposal. The one thing I do miss is Maurice Binder's original gunbarrel. And for three Bond films in a row that gunbarrel has been tampered with too much....

    All I really feel is necessary is a regular gunbarrel with an updated design by Kleinman. The Brosnan design is getting dated and the CR one is a little too stylized to work outside of that context.

    Why updating constantly. Actually, the old Maurice Binder design was more or less unchanged between 1962 and 1989. I kinda find that....nice you know. Now I am a very progressive minded person, but when it comes to James Bond I think it's good to stick to the formula: Never change a winning design.

    Actually, I was watching the 'Bond on BluRay' trailer. One thing that struck me, where the gunbarrels at the start. The people who made the trailer did a striking job by adding the old Binder-design to Craig's 'gunbarrelwalk' from 'Quantum Of Solace':


    So, apparently the gunbarrel designs from the past two Bond films were just not....iconic enough :-).
