    Long story short, I'd actually put more faith in Sneider mentioning this than I would the majority of other 'scoopers'. He's been accurate on a lot of stuff in recent years. I mean, he's the same one who (as far as I'm aware) broke The Batman 2 cinematographer news just yesterday. And I can remember lots of tidbits in the run up to Superman he had before others. His sources in the industry seem legit.

    The only angle here that makes me doubt the story is whether they have actually reached a "preferred choice" stage of casting at this point in the process. Denis only finished shooting Dune, what, a few weeks ago...?

    Like I said, I don't think this is all inaccurate as such, and we're not dealing with rags making up sensational stories like ATJ doing a gun barrel. Just a lot of second hand stuff from 'insiders' about a film in its very early stages, of which very early/general information has gotten out. In practice, however, I think they, and we, know little.

    Yeah to be honest i don't really put much into this report especially considering that no one knew it was going to be daniel craig until it was like officially decided a couple weeks before the announcement. I am excited we're at least getting something though think we'll get an official announcement in 2026

    To be fair, I don't think that's necessarily true! And I'm not pointing the finger at you or anything, because it's something I was way too young to remember at the time, and something I only sort of got an insight into recently with an archived thread (with a rather misleading rumour/some bad takes on this all in hindsight) more than a month away from Craig's announcement. Fascinating reading.

    I can imagine for non-fans Craig would have been a surprise. But I think his name was being thrown around quite a bit for fans and he seemed to very much be in the rumoured last few. Some there even seem to believe i
    he'd be good or at least passable! I think we're now into an early stage of this film essentially.

    But as the process went along daniel craig eventually became the favorite. So im just saying that this early on i don't really trust that their is any real "favorite" just my opinion of course.


    I think it's a case where the casting process hasn't started yet, agreed. Anyone can drop out, get rejected, or refuse. I don't think any 'bookies favourite' or whatever matters in the slightest.

    But I don't think there's any sort of pattern here in terms of who's rumoured earliest. It could be Turner or it might not at the end of the day. But he makes sense as someone to be considered.

    Can’t agree more regarding casting. I’m warming to Callum Turner, but he’s not Bond yet. There are a lot of factors in play before the role is cast.

    If Bond 26 starts and after the titles M tosses a dossier across his desk and it's straight into the mission the cinemas will erupt in universal applause. That's literally the simplest thing that fans have been asking for, and yet they refused to do it.

    I don't think the majority of audiences care about that specifically. They just want a gripping Bond film. GE, TLD, nor CR give us that, and if anything that sounds more like SP. If they go that route that's fine, but it depends on what they do to with it. I think out of all the nostalgia for Bond movies, the M briefing scenes aren't necessarily that high up (although in the right context they can work in that way - SF's ending being an example). I think it's always worth trying to play around with those scenes to make them interesting though. You can tell even by the mid Connery era they looked to shake up that aspect of the formula. I'd also argue from MR to AVTAK it became a bit repetitive/tired seeing Bond in the Moore era immediately go into the briefing with a bunch of large jowled ministers, going through the motions with the obligatory Moneypenny scene.

    A good, exciting PTS/opening will do the trick though. But there's a million ways to do that. Knight is quite good at writing big openings though and introducing his characters.

I'd argue Craig was actually a safer option than people realise (I mean, he'd even had two Bond 'auditions' with Layer Cake and Tomb Raider. He was an experienced actor who had a few years on him which gave him more gravitas than the younger candidates. And unlike hypotheticals like Hugh Jackman he wasn't attached to another major franchise nor was he too famous). In theory, however, there aren't any safe choices with this sort of casting and any decision will be a gamble of some sort. If Turner's truly in the running he'll simply have to prove he's the right man.

    I really liked Pattinsons Batman. Agreed on Craig some people didnt like his look but as an actor he was strong. Good enough for Bond with pretty easy.

    I'm not sure if I'd enjoy that either. It'd be something of a missed opportunity to establish a fresh, interesting dynamic between a new M and Bond too.

    I think you’re right, I think it’s also possible they have an idea what they want to do with it (it seems like Knight has a brief and the character is more or less established) and they have a thought about an actor who cold do that, and they might even want to pin him down. I could see a casting announcement coming earlier than we might expect.

    I tell you what, it’ll be an assuring thing if they do decide to go with a 35 year old like, say, Callum. I’m really not into the young Bond for younger audiences angle. So, if it turns out to be Callum Turner, I’ll be at peace and filled with hope for this entry.

    It's the only option. Fans don't consciously know it, but they watch a Bond film for masculine competence.

    Absolutely made up. This Oasis rumor has come up every single time with the past few films and I have no idea why. The producers are going to pick someone who is massively relevant (which we're way too far out to even know who that would be), and that sure as hell isn't Oasis.
