    I’m actually someone who rates AI (the Spielberg film that is) very highly too.

    I mean, fair enough if many of his films aren’t for some of us. But he’s one of the most renowned directors of all time whatever one thinks of them.

    I believe this, and a long in the tooth master is still a master. A Bond film with his blocking would be awesome, even now. Plus he has a natural effortless optimism and positive spirit (it's what's made him so successful at blockbusters throughout the decades), and Bond has been a touch cynical for a while now.

    Yeah but still. You dont see Disney removing Star Wars or Marvel out of their lineup. I mean I have physical copies of all the films but since my living room tv is on the fritz regarding my hdmi ports not working, streaming is the easiest way to watch the films

    No, you're correct. Disney have all those films at your disposal. They don't seem to remove any content. (Nor do they have any annoying adverts)

    Money can be the only factor regarding the Bond films. As you rightly state, 'They own them!'

    I think Amazon Quietly understands that they will only get one chance to make a good first impression. People cared about Jurassic World or The Force Awakens because they were the first entries in a while and the fan base for those series WANTED the new movies to live up to rest, but that goodwill was burnt through FAST, and just 5 years later both franchises were floundering. With that being said I think Amazon will be targeting the primetime Christmas release window in 2028, around December 8th. Movies released in December typically have good legs, and Amazon will be thinking Bond can ride the boxoffice into the new year.

    It's being speculated that Dune Part 3 could move into 2027 to avoid Avengers Doomsday and the release of GTA 6, and that could also effect the timeline for filming Bond.

    The thing you've got to keep in mind is that if there isn't enough humour or levity in Bond 26 it will be on Knights head not on Villeneuves. You can only direct the script you have in front of you, and it's Knight job to make sure enough of the Bond flavour is woven in.

    If you take a look at a lot of the Bond directors, they weren't picked because they had previous experience of directing popcorn action, Amazon are just following that trend. I also believe the only 3 truly great Bond films of the past 40 years happen to be the first entries of each of the last 3 actors, which bodes well for how they will approach this new reboot.

    So they didn't hire Villeneuve because they thought he was right based on his previous movies/had expressed interest in Bond beforehand... nor from his pitch that he gave to producers... but because they were following trends?

    Not sure I believe that's the case ;) And it's just as well. It means there's at least some form of logic to him getting the job, and we don't have to look at any weird mystical patterns like the new actor's first Bond movie being the best of the last 50 years or whatever.

    I agree that subjectively he is a great director, and (nearly) always enjoy seeing his latest film. However, apart from Jaws, I personally never feel desire to rewatch any of his films.

    Hopefully. We'll see when we get the next Bond actor announcement, which will be the big one. I'm going to guess it'll be towards the last quarter of 2026 though as I can imagine it being a long process. I'll also guess by then we'll know the main stuff.

    Could of course be wrong as always!

    Yessir, they can. I’ve seen Daniel Craig on stage, Al Pacino, Mark Strong, Michael Impererioli, and more, and they were all fantastic. I’ve been very lucky, or I perhaps caught them on a great night, but no-two ways about, great actors usually can play on any canvas.
