    Yeah it came to me when I started thinking of Bond on boats. It is a complete shot in the dark other than many of clues fit the character.

    1. I'm not on the port, and I'm not port side. I'm located starboard (right) side
    2. I don't know if I like ships yet, and I definitely did not used to be a sailor. I'm too young for that!
    3. I won't stray too far in this state. Mum's got me on a leash!
    4. Bond looks at me as I walk past him. Bond actually looks twice
    5. There's water/balloons, but I'm not at the circus. I'm on a boat with a balloon
    6. We're not taking the stairs? But there's no elevators here! I go to walk down the stairs of the ferry
    7. I'm about to go one way, but I'm swiftly guided in another direction. Mum directs me away from the stairs
    8. We can assume that I'm with one of my relatives. The adult is assumed to be my mother

    Additional clues would have been:

    9. I have another connection to this person with me. see clue #3
    10. I don't pay the ferryman - or even fix a price! I'm on a ferry and too young to pay
