The film version uses mostly take 3 and cuts to take 4 for the ending while the album uses take 3 with a fade out, because a buzzer started going off in the studio! Maybe a train was coming.

One last, thoroughly geeky question. There are two versions of the bugle call in the track of the same name. Was there any indication on whether one was an alternate of the other, or if perhaps they were meant to be heard at different moments of the scene?

No, they just did two wild takes and we included both. The shorter one is the one used in the film.

I watched MR today and ended up doing something a little tragic and playing in the score on my phone to see the differences! Some of the cuts I hadn’t quite twigged before, like the trims to Vennini Glass and I Bid You Farewell (thanks to Mr Bulk for his naming of the tracks which makes them really easy to place!). Launch Program Commence remains majestic, and eternally puzzling why it’s not in the film.

It’s quite funny how they often didn’t get messed around with in the edit, just dropped in and out, but usually keeping the timing Barry had established.
The only one I couldn’t quite figure is the Jaws Lends a Hand: does that play on directly from Reunited? I couldn’t quite work out where it’s cued in. Also, how do you guys think Globes Destroyed was supposed to play out? It mostly fits but seems to end before the climactic moment, was the picture re-edited after the score you think?

I think Jaws Lends a Hand starts after Bond tells him the shuttle can't disconnect and asks him for help. I overlayed it over that part and it fit there.

Ah okay, yeah you must be right, thanks. I guess it starts with some dark chords which probably come in as the film cuts to a shot of the station exploding a bit, right after Dolly whispers in Jaws' ear. It's a very odd cue though, I can kind of see why they left that one out- it reminds me of tracks from Barry's Beyondness of Things period much later on, when he went a bit sort of pastoral.

Really hope GE is just getting a delayed 30th anniversary expanded CD. Not liking we haven’t heard anything of it.

I'm a little concerned as well. GE and AVTAK are the two expansions I've been wanting most after OP and MR's expansions released.

I want other Bond scores. But the 3 Bond scores I want the most are TSWLM, AVTAK & GE.

I'd be inclined to give it a patient fortnight or so before having that sinking feeling in your gut of disappointment.

You ought to be looking at Black Friday, that is late November. That's when announcements tend to happen.

I’ve said it before, but they’ve done enough of these Bond scores now that I can’t see any reason why they wouldn’t plan on doing all of them (or at least the ones they have tapes for) eventually.

The only thing I could see potentially getting in the way would be the Amazon switchover.

I don't think Amazon would want to upset James Bond fans, they're trying to win over with Bond 26...by halting the release of priceless Bond scores. I just can't see Amazon doing that.

I, for one, am deeply grateful for La-La Land’s remarkable run of Bond score releases. Whatever the future holds, I’m content. If more are coming: fantastic. If not: well, I won’t complain; what we’ve already received is extraordinary.

It honestly baffles me when people say, “You gave us this. Great! Now give us more!” In the past three years, we’ve seen more Bond score releases than ever before. If La-La Land chooses to continue, wonderful. But if they decide to take a well-earned break, good heavens, let them.

How so? These Bond scores certainly cannot harm the popularity of Bond.

I think we’re at risk of overestimating the significance of film scores within the vast landscape of cinema. The Bond soundtrack releases appeal to a very small, niche audience at best; most people neither know nor care about them. The vast majority of viewers that the studio hopes to attract for Bond 26 have zero interest in owning a film score. And Amazon most likely isn’t concerned about selling a few thousand copies of albums from thirty years ago, either.

Well, can't argue with that @DarthDimi I also agree that La-La Land are a blessing to Bond fans. I just hope for the best and more Bond scores.

I'm not sure there's anything wrong or baffling about folks being excited for more; they're great releases. It doesn't mean anyone's ungrateful for what's already come.

What's a priority for one team may not be for a new one taking over. When you get a change of management it's not unusual for a campaign from the previous one to get canned, or just lost in the mix-up. Regardless, Mr B has hinted elsewhere that they're continuing so it doesn't seem that there's anything to worry about.

    It’s probably a bit of a double-edged sword.

On the one hand, it must be quite frustrating for the people involved to have put the time and effort into creating the latest release, only to immediately be bombarded with a chorus of, “Great! Now can you do this one please?”

On the other, it’s a testament to how good these releases have been that people are dying for more.

Personally, while there are certainly Bond scores left that I’d like to see get the La-La treatment more so than others, at the end of the day the ones we’ve had thus far have all been varying degrees of wonderful and my main wish is simply that they keep going.

I’m not gonna begin to claim I have any idea how it all actually works, but I have had experience where other media franchises I like have changed ownership and it’s led to some companies losing licences and others keeping them.

La La has already released a Bond soundtrack under the new London Operations / Amazon banner, so I’m pretty confident we’ll get more. As long as people keep buying them, they’ll keep releasing them.

That's true, although Thunderball was in production when the change happened, so I guess folks are a little nervous that they may not have commissioned any more going forward from that, but we were assured there's nothing to worry about. There was also a little potential clue that DAF and FYEO are in the pipeline.

Yes hopefully we will get released on Black Friday in November AVTAK & Goldeneye but you never know we could get a surprise expanded score like TSWLM, fingers crossed for any of these Bond scores. All I know is it’s certainly a great time to be a James Bond music fan. But do agree I think we will get DAF & FYEO in 2026

Not for me, thanks. I don't understand going back to vinyl, but I'm happy for Bond fans who do.

Neil once again many thanks , this is a fantastic vinyl release & instantly purchased, LLL Records are smashing these Bond Vinyl & CD releases, keep up this incredible work

Vinyl isn’t my thing either, but I imagine for people who are into it, this particular score’ll be a very welcome release.

If nothing else it shows the Goldfinger vinyl probably sold well and there’s demand for this sort of stuff, which can only bode well for the future.

Nice companion to the Goldfinger vinyl artwork too.
