I remember when they got up to the crane part being on the edge of my seat, holding my breath until Bond got down to the ground then when Bond burst through the wall people were cheering. I'd never experienced anything like that at the cinema. Incredible memories
Negative is the obvious, the ending of NTTD. I'll never forget people booing and moaning the ending on opening night, then seeing people leave in absolute silence like a funeral before the film even finished.
I agree it shouldn't have been used in NTTD, but it certainly wouldn't 'ruin' the song for me.
It's too closely associated with Majesty's to be spoiled.
Excellent memories of your first Bond film in the cinema @Jordo007 and what a film to start with! The Parkour chase is exhilarating.
It seems the NTTD ending is proving 'popular' in the negative department...
You thought Rosa Klebb's demise was going to take the no.1 spot?
I mean, it probably wasn’t going to leave any of us with an upbeat feeling ;)
There is no no.1 spot. I'm just interested in fans 'deep feelings' on Bond scenes regardless if they're positive or negative.
I'm certainly not surprised. I should hope Bond's death was always going to evoke deep feelings from fans...
I had my picture taken with it before i went in... :D
I think i uploaded it to the 'post a picture of yourself' discussion...
Negative experience would be NTTD’s ending like others have mentioned.
Not a bad Christmas seeing that trio of films!
Was that your first viewing of them?
It was for TLD and YOLT - I remember seeing FRWL before because I was so obsessed with the video game at that time but it was this particular viewing that really stuck with me. In many ways I’m glad I got to see the full reveal of the Pleasence Blofeld in YOLT before ever seeing an Austin Powers movie - I’ll never forget how unsettling I found him as a kid even though these days I much prefer Savalas and the Dawson/Pohlmann version.
Thank you my friend, watching a new Bond film on opening night is special, especially when it's a brilliant film.
@007HallY I wish I didn't feel so strongly about it mate
We can't help what we feel! For what it's worth I'd have said the first 'negative' feeling I got from a Bond film was seeing the end of OHMSS. Very similar feeling to the end of NTTD (just without the intellectual aspect of Bond specifically dying).
Sorry to derail the thread, but had you read the book before seeing OHMSS. I had no idea the ending was coming, it was heartbreaking. It's still impactful on every rewatch and even after I've read the novel a few times
I hadn't, no. So it was completely unexpected for me too.
