He might drop out for some reason or another, it’s not unknown in the movies and has happened to Bond a few times even. It’s early days: I really hope he does make the film and I think he probably will, but there’s always a chance of situations changing.

If the new Bond film is anything like the new gameplay from First Light then.............no thanks.

I know what you mean. But First Light is a video game. Dennis Villeneuve won't make a video game-like James Bond film, rest assured. Nor will Knight write one. To ease your concerns, I advise you to watch the making off video for Blade Runner 2049. I get really excited each time I revisit it. Top notch artists, those were. And now, with a proper writer, we'll get something special. Patrick Gibson would also never be Bond in a film made by these fellas, IMO. It'll all be special, in that I truly believe. If...no one drops out in the meantime ;)

I'd say the odds of that are about 50/50.

We're on a James Bond fan site, and even we have only from one page worth of things to talk about regarding Bond 26 in the past 2 weeks! Development is moving at a snails pace, I would not be surprised if Villeneuve decides he can't wait on making his other projects and leaves the production. Simply put, there's no way they are going to make the film on the schedule they originally planned for.

No way will Villeneuve drop out, it's a dream project for him, plus he has a great writer in Steven Knight and top producers. And I don't think development is moving at a snails pace, not with those producers driving things, I suspect it's advancing very well now.

Very reassuring to hear from you, dear @ColonelSun. I agree, there's a ton of things moving along very fast and very far away from our collective eyes and ears. I, for one, can't wait to hear about the cinematographer and production designer. These two always seem to be of great importance for Villeneuve. When do you think we'll know some more, about the crew, I mean? Even if the script is being written as we speak, I believe Villeneuve's crew is independent from that particular development, right?

“Where Hollywood’s Biggest Film Franchises Stand: Marvel’s Diminished, DC’s Rising, and Everyone Is Excited About James Bond”

I love this headline, and the tailwind.
