I am not sure what is going on in many aspects of tactics and line ups, it already feels like desperation hit and hope football.
Indeed!
Didn't watch the game, but someone pointed this out afterwards. Very strange. I get that signing for a big club might be difficult for any player, but surely it would have been better to let him take one of the first five.
What did he say?
I just made the one transfer and sold Palmer.
He doesn't look like a manager that holds back when interviewed. That's refreshing in one way, but not so much in other circumstances.
His honesty does leave him open to criticism, even last season I felt he maybe spoke a bit too much at press conferences etc.
Yes, there's a balance needed, if he wants to protect himself from criticism. United have one of the best possible fixtures this weekend though, so if they want to make a statement after the midweek game, this is the match to do it.
The media in the UK will look for any opportunity to go in on managers and players, Amorim needs a better PR team lol
Makes me think of all the criticism Arteta has faced!
Not sure about that team selection. It's a game against a promoted team so they should be fine. Still no Šeško in the starting eleven though…
Sesko midweek did not look sharp, he got into good positions quite often though his touch let him down.
Me selling João Pedro after GW1 was a huge mistake.
Chelsea have finally struck an agreement with United to sign Garnacho for just under £40 million
Xavi Simons has been given Tottenham's No.7 shirt after completing his transfer from RB Leipzig for a £51.8m
Arsenal agree Piero Hincapie deal for eighth summer signing before transfer deadline
More to come... ?
They do need to give him enough minutes to get into match fitness though. Given the start of their season, Amorim might be careful to utilise a player that's not yet at his best match fitness, but still, they need their star striker playing.
Glad I kept him myself. I even put the armband on João Pedro this gameweek because I wasn't sure about any of the other options in my team.
Agree Sesko needs game time, I think Amorim is in panic mode though the reality is we are struggling in front of goal its all a bit hit and hope and frantic.
Cunha got injured, the international break came at the right time for MU I usually hate these breaks but we have serious issues to resolve, we have to buy or we are in trouble.
It looks like we may sign Villa keeper Martinez... finally.
We have another week until the deadline, but make sure to keep an eye out for potential international break injuries; early transfers can be risky!
It's rare that I find an international break as welcome as this one. Saka will be out for a while too, so a few week's break between the games couldn't come at a better time.
Not going well for me either. Put a lot of eggs in making a long term plan with my -4 before the gameweek 3 deadline, but now I'm more likely to wildcard my team. Haven't pushed the button yet, as it's not a good week for a wildcard, IMO. But I might just have to do it.
Saliba is out for at least a month so gotta replace him.
Very much so!
Saliba out now, with the games Arsenal have ahead of them, can be season defining. I expect they will fall behind even further without him…
Haven't been able to watch any of the England games after Tuchel took over. Have they been particularly bad?
I have watched a couple Tuchel is efficient enough I can't comment on last nights game though the games i watched he is clearly trying to determine what his best team is, which makes sense he has not been there long in international management terms.
Tuchel is giving youth a chance which is encouraging.
Are Norway still maintaining good form in your group.
That's my takeaway from what I've seen too. The average age can't be that high, looking at the names that have played games under his management. Seeing as many of these players are likely to feature for years to come, I think it's a clever move. It's not like these young players aren't capable of delivering. England has a lot of talent to choose from.
Norway played a friendly on Thursday. I wasn't particularly impressed, but a friendly isn't going to give much indication of form. The qualifier against Moldova on Tuesday will be very important. In previous tournaments this has been the type of game where Norway have ruined their chances of qualifying, so I hope they don't think this game will be easy. They have likely never had a better chance of qualifying, so they need to secure the three points in the games leading up to Italy away in November.
