And another one to cross off my list. Just listened to all the samples and they all sound fantastic, which is hardly surprising. 'Double Derval' in particular had my ears instantly perk up. Barry at his absolute best.

instantly ordered ,shame the two mono stems couldn't be placed in chrono order ,i suppose those two may have deterioated in their stereo formats beyond use or just plain lost.one question for neil if you read this "do you fly here often ?" 0.27 ,track title is eluding me where is this track in the score?

From the track title I'd guess it's when Fiona gives Bond a joyride in her Mustang.

yeah i think thats correct, just studied the new cover it's good in continuation with ohmss but personally i'd have prefered something that used bond battling frogman like the original album also it's a missed chance to add lyricist don black's credit to the font.

Perfect choice. TB is one of the greats for me. From the slightly mysterious underwater cues to the spectacular action beats, this score has it all. Can't wait.

Thanks for the link @mtm. Amazing score. I remember on one of the underwater cues there was this little reocurring sound that reminded me of sonar.

Edit: just seen that @mattjoes already posted this news, so thanks as well.

Another great Barry score! Looking forward to hearing the work @nsb1234 did!

Hearing the brief "Thunderball" cue in my rewatch of OHMSS really got me excited for revisiting this score, and movie, so great timing. :)

It's going to be wonderful hearing all the unreleased material for the first time; and the cues from the 2003 release that were put together in super long tracks, separately.

I think of TB as Barry’s first Bond score that is truly 10/10 “legendary”. FRWL and GF were very good, but it’s TB where he really took it to the next level with creativity and variety in the tracks. Might be my second favorite to OHMSS. YOLT and MR would be the other two that complete my Barry “Rushmore” of favorites.

It's funny, it's one I admire but have never really loved or listened to all that much: YOLT I've kind of held more affection for though and played to death. And yet TB is clearly full of great stuff, I look forward to giving this release a spin as I think it's a score which could be put a new light after its initial soundtrack release.

The 2003 album also has some sound issues. The more quieter tracks are really quiet and the louder tracks are superloud. I have to play deejay while listening to that album, quickly putting the volume down when a louder "badadaaam" happens at the end of a quieter track. Looking forward to a release where this isn't thecase, since it's definitely one of my favourite Bond scores.

I remember going to see it in the NFT as it was then (BFI now) in the late 90s and in the cinema the junkanoo sequence has that urgent whistle in the score as Bond is being hunted, and it was absolute torture- really deafening! :D

Speaking of least listened scores, from John Barry, my least listened overall are FRWL and YOLT, though lately I've been listening to FRWL much more than before. Of course, YOLT is a terrific score, but for whatever reason I don't revisit it too often. I especially like the mechanically-constructed, doom-laden cues heard when Bond infiltrates the volcano. Stuff like James Bond - Ninja and Countdown for Blofeld.

TB is the most shrieking Bond score. Those loud trumpets doubled by piccolos. Very loud, aggresive stuff.

    Amazing news once again.

Just listened to "The Execution Branch". What a shame it was mostly removed from the movie (Fiona's motorbike attack scene).
Generally speaking silence can increase tension, but I just watched the scene with the music and it made it incredibly more exciting.

The most shrieking Bond scores are Arnold's first three, IMO. But I understand what you're saying.

It's the most thrillingly BOMBastic of the barry bond scores ,a musical statement of the title "THUNDERBALL"!, with hindsight if john hadn't done this score (thankfully he did,i wouldn't have it any other way)and had his name been prominent enough at the time (1965) i could see mr. williams being given the assignment .

Now besides the bombastic aspect, TB has some superb almost hypnotic underwater music, and the Shrublands music perfectly suits the mysterious astmosphere there.

For me, Thunderball and The Ipcress File are Barry’s nearly identical twins in terms of arrangements and musical motifs. I absolutely adore both.
While I have the Japanese cd of Ipcress (without the dialogue snippets, which is a plus imo), one of my biggest wishes is to see LLL give it the same treatment as the Bond series.

Although I love Ipcress, is there much in the score which isn't either a version of the theme or that sort of low, murmuring piano noise?

A little yes,but to have the complete atmospheric score would be fantastic you either love this kind of score or not I for one do.

Yes. I absolutely love Barry's score for the Ipcress File. Also, yeah...the score is mostly different variations of "A Man Alone". I think only "Alone In Three-Quarter Time" is slightly different, but still bears the DNA of "A Man Alone". But all in all, I really love the score.
