Fairly impressive it stays looking like him when he moves his head. Often in these things they turn into someone else.

As inevitably happens whenever I pick up the latest expanded score album, I ended up watching OHMSS the other day.

Absolutely no disrespect to Lazenby - who I’ve always thought got way more hate than he deserved and in some ways was better for this film than Connery would’ve been - but if the timelines had aligned differently and they’d made this film with Dalton, I think it would’ve been the ultimate Bond movie.

Can't play the video, as it's set as private. Would be great to see it!

Is this AI doing its job on a photo or what are we looking at here?

AI indeed. Perhaps one day we can use AI to create a full, proper revenge sequel starring Lazenby.

Having just returned from OHMSS in (glorious) 4K at the cinema, it has set in stone my feeling it is the best Bond film, very deserving of my number one spot, and wont be even remotely challenged until Casino Royale comes along.

Diana Rigg is phenomenal. Whatever they paid her, she delivers 100 times more.

They should have hired Telly Savalas for Blofeld from the beginning. And I like the others. John Barry was robbed of a Oscar nomination for James Bond in general, but this music score not getting one was the biggest crime.

My somewhat unpopular opinion is that despite how iconic the appearance of the character has become, Pleasance's performance as Blofeld in YOLT isn't his best work, to put it politely. Savala's casting kind of follows in the Pleasance mould (ie. menacing bald guy) but weirdly works a lot better in the film for some reason. Probably because Savalas seems to be putting the effort in and has more natural charisma.

    Completely agreed about Barry.

Pleasance was parachuted in after filming had become. Jan Wenrich had been cast and scenes shot with him in the role. In a few pots you can see hair on top of the un-seen Blofeld. Gilbert and the producers realized they made a mistake and so Donald was thrust into the role. At this point there wasn't room for normal prep or rehearsal so he did the best he could with what he had. He is a small frame person and next to the tall Connery he just looked weak. After audiences heard Eric Pohlman booming voice I think the expectation was a man of heft or presence. To then see Donald Pleasance must have been jarring.

Savalas matches up with the voice of Pohlman. A shame he wasn't brought back for Diamonds but perhaps the producers knew he wouldn't fit the tone of the script and so Gray got cast. There was also the fact that Connery's salary meant less for other things and maybe they couldn't afford Savalas anyway.
