The 5 film Craig 4k set went down by almost half here in the USA. At least on Amazon

I didn’t know they did one of all 5; I’ve got the set of the first four.

They do they have the 4 set and a 5 one the 4 one doesn't include nttd and the 5 set does

I have the four film one. I was tempted by the five one just for the cleanliness of having all the films in one box, but instead I finally found a decent deal on the standalone releases with the slipcovers. The Connery steelbook set had reminded me how much I prefer to have single cases versus many discs in a slim case barely hanging on for dear life!

I really don’t understand this cover design. At least the mashed up posters for the 6 film set was unique, this is just weird.

    The worst offender:

    Diam
    onds
    Are
    Foreve

I'm all for minimalistic, but this must be among the worst cover art ever presented for Bond. The letters cut off, staggering some titles but not others, etc...

    Not to mention 'GoldFin!' 😂

I don't mind them, but what I'd love to see is the classic illustrations rearranged to make a 'new' image.

This would help enjoy some sooner and cut the price down if you can't get them all right now

Honestly I think they're rather cool, embracing the retro graphic design of the films but. in a contemporary treatment. I find all of the new covers really quite artistic. DN, YOLT and TB are the pick of them for me.
I wonder if it's just coincidence that they rather echo the stacked arrangement of the NTTD logo.

I have mixed feelings about the covers myself. I like the simplistic concept of them, but the broken up single words like for GF and TB is awkward. The DAF one looks straight-up ugly to me all around, though I rather like the way the others look besides the word cutoffs. Most days on my shelf I’d only be looking at the spines, anyway, which are all pretty good besides DAF’s. Hope this means everything else from OHMSS through NTTD gets individual releases (I think the Craig ones already did, but rereleases in this style would be nice for uniformity).

Have to agree with @mtm, they look rather cool. I love typography though, so seeing the various fonts all big like that is a bit exciting. Although stylistically very different, they made me think of designer David Pearson's covers for Penguin Press’ collection of John le Carré’s George Smiley novels, where Pearson used typography of that era, including type which is not available digitally and was pieced together from different sources.

I do feel however that the design of these 4K covers are "almost there" – like they are just some finishing touches or details from being even better.

I know the demand for less physical media means usually expecting less in terms of extras and special packaging, etc. But this is about as sloppy as they can get with about zero care. I will credit at least they got the typeface consistent with the original marketing.

Anybody venture a guess as to why it's not worth the effort to put the original poster art on the covers anymore? If I'm not mistaken, they haven't used it since the remastered VHS releases from around 1993, at least in the U.S.

From what I've gathered (based on the excellent resource of https://www.007homevideo.com/), you are correct that that was the last time the original posters and/or key art was used.

There are a couple exceptions (the Zavvi GoldenEye Steelbook and the Casino Royale Collector's Edition, for example, which both used their poster counterparts), but it's a shame new artwork based on the original posters has never graced a complete set of the EON films.

To this day, the first way that I owned the films - the Ultimate Edition DVDs - is the best artwork for Bond home releases IMO. There really aren’t any others I would call exceptionally good-looking, but most of the rest are simply serviceable. With these new ones, they’re not perfect or even great, but I’d rather have this simple approach than it be too much.
