    TB

I like the Warwick version of MKKBB (Bassey butchered it) but TB is a classic. The most bondian song ever when that was something cool.

I often switch to Kiss Kiss Bang Bang when watching the film its so good. The reality is TB has two of the best Bond title tracks ever, Tom's track just wins by a whisker.

If we were talking about Tomorrow Never Dies vs Surrender there is an outstanding winner regarding those choices.

As we were discussing OST edits in another thread, I wonder if MKKBB would've been edited had it been inclded in the OST. The intro is incredibly long. I think it's only to give the title enough time to show up on the screen.

Apparently they recorded the Bassey one first. Then they found it out it was too short to play over the credits. They went to re-record it but Bassey was no longer available. They got Dionne to do the second version and this one was matched up to the timing of the credits. Not sure who but someone decided the lyrics were not to begin until TB showed up on the screen. That might not be entirely accurate as TB sings a bit before the title of the film appears.

Then it was UA that wanted the title of the movie to be in the song. Barry had to pivot and he and Black wrote TB very quickly and got it recorded with Jones. It is an interesting piece of history. There have been other submitted theme songs, but I believe this is the only time 2 theme songs for the same movie were recorded and then used. Though MKKBB was removed for TB.

Would you rather the theme song be Kiss Kiss Bang Bang OR retain Thunderball?

Both great songs from Barry but I gotta stick with the bravado Welshman's rendition of TB. If James Bond could sing he would sing like Tom Jones. Plus I love how it's like an anthem to Bond himself.

1965 and Barry is scoring another Bond adventure. He decides to eschew the title of the movie in favour of something unique. He writes, with Leslie Briscusse, Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. He then features the instrumental through out the film.

The title of the song coming from a nickname given to the character of Bond by an Italian journalist.

Indeed. The year after TB was made an Italo-Spaghetti-Eurospy film was released using that nickname:

I missed this one a few days ago but I wanted to answer anyway:

Since it's that time of the year of weddings, why not do this would you rather. This one was submitted by @SIS_HQ

Would you rather attend Bond's wedding in Portugal OR Felix's wedding in the Florida Keys?

Bond's wedding has you hobnobbing with M, Q, and Moneypenny. You'd also get to brush shoulders with members of the Union Corse and of course Marc-Ange Draco. You would wish best wishes to Bond and Tracy. Add in the outdoor feel and celebration in Portugal and this wedding has a lot to offer.

    OR

Felix's wedding which has a tropical vibe with a hot tub and lots of revelers on the dance floor. You get to hobnob with Sharkey and members of the DEA. You would pay your respects to Felix and Della. A nice outdoor vibe to this wedding as you party under the Florida sun.

Which wedding would you rather attend?

Definitely Bond and Tracy's nuptials. Plus, I've never attended a wedding in Portugal before and it looks beautiful.

Yeah I must admit I never quite shared Barry's enthusiasm for that KKBB nickname, I think it's a bit rubbish! :D

The Giuliano Gemma film is a spy spoof, probably one of the better ones, although it loses it's way in the second half, as these sort of films often do.

Running out of ideas and not knowing how to wrap things up in a satisfactory manner, the makers substitute frantic energy in it's place.

By the by, that movies theme song is "Love, Love, Bang, Bang", which is performed in 1960s Girl Group style and not at all appropriate for a spy movie.

Here's a cool video of Tom singing Thunderball, complete with all the James Bond trimmings, back in 1987

Wow does Tom look awkward there, maybe he needs the electricity of an audience to bring out his energy. Pretty cool clip though. I was getting TMWTGG vibes with the ladies doing all the physical stuff. LOL!

That's wonderful. I used to visit Castell Coch as a kid so it's a thrill to see this. As I recall Spielberg and Co wanted to use it for the castle in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade but it leaked to the Welsh press and plans were rapidly changed!

Interesting thoughts and ideas on what song fits the movie better. I do enjoy Tom Jones and his bravado and electric delivery. I do adore the instrumental version of Mister Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

Okay shall we stay with music for a second. Lets look at another movie that had multiple theme songs submitted. This movie was rushed to production to follow up on the success of LALD.

Yes I am talking about TMWTGG. Alice Cooper submitted a song and even released the song for this movie. So my question is...

Would you rather Alice Cooper's version of TMWTGG OR keep Lulu's version?

This song was submitted too late to be considered as they are already signed Lulu for the song duties. According to one source that is why this was never even considered for the film.

Lulu's song usually shows up in the bottom of the rankings of many fan polls. It is an okay song but really isn't something you would likely play regularly. It feels a bit lacking, but this might be the fact that they rushed this film out as they wanted to capitalize on the success of LALD.

Which song would you rather have over the titles?

Lulu's version, please. Cooper's version is enjoyable for a rock song, but it lacks the Bondian feel, Live And Let Die & You know My Name were able to capture...even as rock songs.

I deplore TMWTGG, but Lulu's song is one of the highlights.

Lulu is a great singer and performs well in almost any style, but I'd rather they had given her a Bond song that allowed her to show her "To Sir With Love" aspect.

IMO the pop rock style of TMWTGG works better for Alice

I've always felt "Best Of Both Worlds" is more what I would like for a Lulu Bond song

Some parts of the AC song seem to anticipate QoS. Lulu for me.

I really like Alice Cooper, so I'm going with him. I'd say the song just just needs a little John Barry tweaking to give it a Bondian sound.

I would like that! I have nothing against Lulu, but it would be fun to hear a really rocky version of that song.

Lulu's version. I like the song a fair bit. I remember gaining new appreciation for it back in 2007 while collecting the UE DVDs. Much like the film, there is a slight air of dagginess to it though, as if I expect to hear that slide whistle pop up in the song - specifically following the lyrics, 'just before the kill'.
